Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .

Really do wish we could just leave him alone on a dinghy somewhere out in the mid-atlantic, such a despicable twat. Still makes me sick to my stomach that he got what he wanted after all this.

I know what you are getting about regarding the results.

In all seriousness though, it just shows the double standards that some people have. I voted to leave but no way would I dream of expecting free movement of our citizens in the EU but not the same back!

Apologies for the simple and ignorant question but if Cameron didn't want Britain to leave, why did he offer the referendum?

I think he was under pressure from some people in his own party to offer it as part of the manifesto at the last general election in return for continuing as leader.

Among his own party there were MP's who are anti-EU. They've been banging on for years, being a thorn in the side of every Tory leader about how bad the EU is for Britain. They can be disruptive and devisive.
Cameron thought that the only way to shut them up was to campaign on a referendum ticket that would put paid to the EU question once and for all. Similar to the Scottish thing really. He was sure that Remain would win and the sceptics in his party did not represent the views of the country. He didn't figure on a major player of his own party (Boris) coming out for the Leave side. So he lost and had to resign.

To win votes from UKIP at the last election. Gambled the future of the country for some short term gain - there has to be a solid argument for him to be the worst Prime Minister in living memory I would think.

It was awfully timed with the refugee crisis coming shortly afterwards.

"Boris, what is this thing in my hand?"
"I don't know but apparently the plebs bathe their ferrets in it. Keep smiling."
"No Butt Blonde"

To get in power. The conservative party were in serious danger of losing voters to UKIP. The pledge of a referendum kept and even earned the Conservatives voters in the last general election. He never thought that they would lose a simple single question vote.

Yeah like I said to those claiming imminent rate rises earlier, interest rates were always likely to be cut as there was a chance of it happening prior to Brexit.

Not that it's Carney's choice alone but he wouldn't have made that statement if he wasn't sure. Given the economic background the inflation will take quite some time to come through if at all.

I'm amazed BJ can show his face in public after this. He's going to get cunted for a long time and he fecking deserves it.

So following Carney's statement, where by the pound is 'set' to slip and the FTSE 100 is set to do well - when should I buy my bloody euros for my holiday in 2 weeks?

Last Thursday. The thing is you're not on your own. I need Euros also and wish I'd brought them the night of the referendum. No idea when it's gonna rise.

Last November
Excellent idea. I'll just whip out my time machine.

Honestly it was stupid of me not to buy them even last month. I just wanna know if it's going to improve at all in the next couple of weeks?

@Fully Fledged are we going to wait it out or are we going to bite the bullet and buy them now, therefore conceding that the pound is well and truly fecked for the foreseeable future?

I'll wait until just before I go unless there's a spike between now and then.

There might be brief moments when it will improve but who knows when, eventually it will fall further unless they don't invoke article 50.

Just put an order in online from say tesco as they're good or a while I think. You can always just use a credit card if it vastly improves

Currency changes you shouldn't worry too much, it's only as if you were going a few years ago.

That's what I really don't understand about Cameron. He was so fecking confident in his own likeableness () that he even stacked the referendum against himself by not counting people who've been out of the country for 15 years or people who aren't English but have been resident here 15 years. Remarkably stupid.

Didn't also decide against letting 16-17 year olds vote as well?

The FTSE 250, the market index that focuses more on the domestic British economy, is down more than 7% from pre-Brexit levels.
