Television Better Call Saul | Includes Breaking Bad Spoilers

Still pretty average show. Massively overrated by the BB fans, which is understandable.
I've not seen anyone rate it particularly high to be honest. I certainly don't think it's being overrated, at least not on here.

There seems to be a pretty common consensus that it's a decent show with excellent production values so looks nice but has until recently moved far too slowly and the best episodes have been those crossing into the BB world more directly.

It's not like people are raving about it. In fact there's barely much discussion from episode to episode, the whole thread only has 28 pages for 2.5 seasons.

Like BB, it took its time but it's getting better & better.

Walt killed two people in the pilot, burned them in acid in episode 2, choked out Krazy 8 in episode 3 and blew up Tuco's hideout in episode 6. Can people stop trying to pretend BB was a slow starter, let alone anything like as slow as this. It's first season was cut short due to the writers strike, but it was pretty much great from the get go, and Gus, Saul & Mike were all players by season 2.

It has been pretty consistently overrated elsewhere tbf. It gets As and 9s every week on places like the AV Club and IGN.

Everywhere that isn't here seems to rate it extremely highly. Wankers.

I really enjoy this, probably more than I enjoyed BB if I'm honest.

Mostly due to the fact that it doesn't have a character quite as insufferable and loathsome as Skylar.

I really like Saul and Mike. Kim is okay and yeah, Chuck is an idiot but I can deal with that. Now that Gus and his arc is being properly introduced it's just getting better. Very interested to see what Kim and Saul are up to!

Last episode I did pause it in amazement at one point to see how much I'd watched without seeing Saul or any of those other characters though

I basically meant the cooking & selling, for example. Many people deemed it as boring and, to be fair, a few episodes were indeed uneventful..
I wonder whether Jimmy will make the transition to SG this season...

What are Kim and Saul up to regarding Chuck and the court case? At the end of the last episode she said bingo as if they have had a break through or something. Was it getting chuck to admit that the tape was a copy? I guess we will find out more in the next episodes. Hurry up Tuesday.

Chuck said something about how lenient the court is with what they allow as evidence. So he'll play the tape, but they'll show the pictures Mike took, presenting him as a lunatic.

I'm sorry but I can't take Mike seriously at all. He looks about 200 for fecks sake.

S03:E05
Saw that coming from a mile away
:wenger:
Chuck is such an annoying, vindictive, pathetic fraud! :wenger:

Getting nearer to Jimmy McGill losing his right to practice law (probably the end of S03) and finding out why he took up the 's all good, man! moniker.

Season 3 has been great so far and last night's episode was amazing and so well done.

We are not even close to the finale and they served us up an amazing episode so early

A superb episode with no Mike?

Impossible!

Certainly the best non-Mike episode I think.

I don't think we're going to see Jimmy disbarred, it would make no sense for him to be able to get into the bar again just under a different name.

Yeah exactly, they've made the point in earlier episodes about how well he's known by the judges (who can't preside over his case for breaking and entering) so there's no way he could just slip back into the legal system unnoticed. Would guess that the name change is a favour or condition to Chuck or Howard to avoid any connection to their firm.

Great episode, the Mike centric episodes have been the highlight of the whole show but this is definitely up there with the best. Is there going to be a season 4 though? We're pretty near the end game for Jimmy McGill; he sold out his brother in order to keep his career and we can now have a half season of Saul being dodgy in court. For Mike's story there's only really the crippling of Hector that needs to be completed by the end of the season, everything else gets wrapped up elsewhere.

That was very good. There does seem to be a lot more progression this series with characters like Don Eladio, Victor and Huell starting to sneak into episodes now. You'd think Jimmy should complete his transformation into Saul quite soon.

Chuck got owned! After being such a smart arse it was wonderful to see him realise Jimmy got one over him.

Chuck does come across as a smartarse d!ck so good to see him get it. Also great episode without having to rely on Mike and Gus to carry the show. Hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season.

the season is not over yet. i trust Chuck to recover quickly and also Jimmy to mess it up in some way...
Did i mention i think its a fecking brilliant series? And i never was into BB much...
Nah that's Chuck done. Might get himself disbarred for attempted entrapment or his questionable mental state. The firm wont want anything to do with him, Howard already made comments about having to protect the firms reputation. It was a pretty good story arc and the fact that Jimmy discredited Chuck like that is the final betrayal and motive to move onto Saul.

Gus & Mike look a bit worse for wear in this series due to the natural effects of aging - I even seem to detect a gait issue with Gus that seems new.

I enjoy it but as others have pointed out, without BB to precede it not sure I would be that invested in the series. Nevertheless, I enjoy the layered characters which ultimately drives the series

The only person who has been in both series who looks younger in BCS is Huell and thats just because he lost 130 pounds.

If I had not seen BB, I wonder if I would have had the patience to see this through? Some episodes are just so slow... maybe they're deliberately filmed like that to show what like was like before he became Saul? I am enjoying it now though, I just wish they'd release it all at once so I could binge watch. Never as good as breaking bad though.

Great episode! Best in the series imho, it's refreshing to see an episode centered in Jimmy/Chuck without being a bit boring. Slight crush on Kim as well .

 I'd let her give me legal "advice" any time.

Yeah, that was a good ep. Though it was painfully obvious what was going to happen from the minute he said he'd "left it in the car"... but they did it well.

As long as they don't reset everything again, this is on course to be the best season so far.
