Television Better Call Saul | Includes Breaking Bad Spoilers

I really don't get how the first two seasons got such critical acclaim. They were incredibly slow and dull for the most part, and the new characters (Chuck and Kim) were largely crap and forgettable. It was so fecking average that I can only assume it did well because of the rep of its big cousin.

And it looks like S3 is getting rave reviews too even though it's apparently still just as slow.

I feel like I'm one of the few people in the world who like this show despite not being a fan of Breaking Bad. I mainly started watching as I like Bob Odenkirk, and the pace of it is perfect for me, almost glacial. I also like Chuck, but each to their own, eh?

Watched the first episode of season 3 last night.

So the big cliff hangers of the last season were effectively diffused; Chuck's tape recording is useless from a legal perspective & Gus is still episodes away from being found. Instead we watched with baited breath as a word doc was changed from a full stop to hyphens to semi colon. Are they deliberately fecking with us, dangling certain story lines then switching back to the workings of a legal practice. Still I'm hooked at this stage.

This will be cancelled before the best parts if it carries on much longer. It's too slow, even for me I'm the most patient person but this is starting to take the piss.

I bet there's good 1-2 hours tops worth of television from season 1 until season 3 the rest is completely shite if I'm honest.

Argh, why didn't I take my own advice and just wait until the series is over. Second episode was super and I'm now dying to see the next episode and have to wait a whole week :(

I actually fell asleep during the first episode. Genuinely. Somewhere around the long montage of Mike dismantling his car peice by peice for some reason, though after the riveting opening explaination of how to strip tinfoil off a wall properly.

All I could think when I woke up was how amazing it was it'd taken me until the 3rd season to do so.

This is the type of series where they should have released all the episodes at once, it's already slow enough as is then having to wait a week for the next episode. :boring:

I love this show, but I think I'll save up a few weeks worth of episodes.

Found the first couple of series pretty frustrating but it seems like things might be starting to pick up now going off the first couple of episodes. Mike's arc is definitely far more interesting than Saul's though.

great 2nd episode, it looks the show will start picking up pace now.

Is it me, or Gus looks old as feck? I felt so nervous about Saul being to obvious while spying on the guy with the bag :wenger:. And finally it looks Saul's fecked with his good lawyering practices and will now start being the Saul we all saw in BB.

Is it just me, or during his arrest scene about 10 mins in, there's a more upbeat track and after that things seem to noticeably speed up – Kims shower scene for instance.

On a side note: There must have been an easier way to sprinkle "something" onto the lorry without wasting so much (just seems a crying shame that's all ;))

I am almost the same, I enjoyed BB but I am finding this more enjoyable.

I like Bob Odenkirk myself too and I find Kim very pleasing on the eye.

It's getting better and better. I thought Mike was not going to work with Gus and Gus was just going to disappear again for the rest of the series. I was so mad when he said "our business here is done"

It's all coming together...

Slowly...

That was probably the best episode of the whole three series. It actually had enough material for an entire episode which made a nice change.

Caught up on the first 4 episodes of S3 tonight. Still enjoying it - Mike is an absolute legend.

I thought for one blessed minute there we were going to get an entire episode without Chuck or Jimmy. Unsurprisingly the ep that's the most tied to the mythology of Breaking Bad is the most fun.

I wish Gus was my boss.

Really good episode.

Yeah, I hate Chuck too, only thing about the show I dislike(altough it's big part of the show tbf).

Can someone remind me what happened to Mike's son?
I vaguely recall him being being killed by some bad cops. Was any aspect of his death related to the drug dealers?

Like BB, it took its time but it's getting better & better.
Mike's a genius & I can't wait to find out what Jimmy & Kim have up their sleeves.

How many episodes left this season?

That's more like it! Since the hike in tempo of the music around the shower scene in the last episode the speed of the story-telling has picked up considerably.
Great episode helped a little by some BB storyline cross-overs.
Think that we're getting close to the moment where we find out why James McGill lost his law licence and had to start practicing under a different name … much better now. In fact you could say: 's all good, man! ;)
