The guy has proper small man syndrome. Like Craig Bellamy if Bellamy had no ability.
Meanwhile, in Bizarro land:
He's facing tough competition from... every other big money signing we've made since circa 2012Almost cemented his status as the worst signing in PL history now.

I can't decide if Mason Mount counts as an even worse signing. He's our 10th most expensive player EVER. Onana and Casemiro, pound for pound, are looking like utter disasters already Casemiro is at 8th and Onana 15th. But yes Antony is an absolute horror show of a signing.

So exactly like Craig Bellamy thenThe guy has proper small man syndrome. Like Craig Bellamy if Bellamy had no ability.
I think it was subsequently reported as a hoax/spoof, though the fact that it's so believable (despite the backing he's received from ETH) maybe indicates a few things...Yeah, insult the only person in football who has any time for you. Genius move.
annoyingly, as much as I disliked him, he was a still a solid mid table forward. Antony isn't PL quality. So exactly like Craig Bellamy then
I've seen plenty of arrogant players and plenty of terrible players. Don't think I've seen anyone who has both in such abondance.
Yes, he really wasn't bad, I just couldn't resistannoyingly, as much as I disliked him, he was a still a solid mid table forward. Antony isn't PL quality.
Flop is an understatement....The man is a flop.

He was not fancied by the manager in the World Cup either. He is just a bang-average player. He hasnt been selected in the Brazil Copa America squad

Well taken goal on his debut. But have to say I was worried immediately watching him in that game. Looked like he was struggling to take on players and that's what we've been witnessing ever since. Like his work rate and defensive part of play but in attack he's just too limited. Rated his 1st season as solid - giving him benefit of the doubt as first season in PL can be difficult and also because he did look decent in some games. Also being young-ish as well. But second season there's no progress and other than for that goal vs Liverpool he's been poor.Had a great debut scoring against the Arsenal and everyone thought he’s going to be brilliant here, then it all turned to pots. He’s not a bad player by any means but just too limited for the top level as a professional winger
Did he go to Qatar just because he signed for us
Just out of curiosity.....which game did he play extremely well in?Yep. And played extremely well when called upon - some would say should have started over Raphinha. But hey, he’s awful. we should keep the agenda posting going.

I suspect I’m the only one who thinks so, but whenever I watch Antony play I always think he looks like a midfielder on the wing. He’s got loads of work rate, an amazing engine, good close control, is press resistant, can carry the ball well. But he lacks that ability to beat a man, more than one in every ten times. He’s predictable as he always cuts in on his favoured foot.
I could easily see another manager turning him into a really good CM. Particularly on the left of a midfield three. He’d be box to box, could recycle possession under pressure really well, and would be effective at carrying the ball in midfield. I know that’s not what you spend 80m on a winger for, but he only got away with being a winger by playing against much lower tier opposition. There’s actually a good player in there, he’s just under the wrong delusion that he’s a winger. He isn’t. I could easily see him doing a Joelinton,
I watched him in the World Cup and he was marginally better than what he has been at Utd and from memory he played his most minutes against Cameroon which was the only game they lost in the group stage. You don't need an agenda to say he's been awful for United, you only need eyes.
I only watched snippets from the Qatar WC.
How did it look when he played extremely well for Brazil (and what was it, 2-3-4 games)?
Did he dribble past players with relative ease, as Raphinha often does?
Was his decision-making any good?
Did his crosses and passes have a decent weight on them?
Or more simply.... did he look like a completely different player from the one we have here?
Do you think he's going to shine, and be the star of a team like Everton, Brendford, Burnely....?
Let's say that the 80-odd million we paid for him is not his fault - I completely agree.
Let's say he had bought him for 40 million, 30 million even.
Do you not think that such a transfer should make teams from the mid-to-bottom part of the table much better?
I think it should, and I don't see him improving any PL team to a great extent.
He is so bad for United that the couple of posters we have here trying to claim otherwise have become very intriguing to me.
You can say that I have an agenda based on dozens of times I watched him play, but that would be weird. I think I have an opinion.

ETH picked the wrong guy, he had when he joined Sancho, Amad, Pellistri who were all more than adequate to be a huge improvement on Antony. He’s gone next season, he will be loaned out and sold next year!Yeah, insult the only person in football who has any time for you. Genius move.

It's weird I watched him a few years ago in the CL for Ajax and he looked amazing.
I think it's just a case of players come to United and their careers just die. Until they leave and then they reincarnate magically
I get what you’re saying but I think the reason why Joelinton successfully transitioned into a CM in a 3 is two-fold: his ability in one v one takeons, and his strength and size. Antony unfortunately has neither of those traits. He’s also hideously one footed.I suspect I’m the only one who thinks so, but whenever I watch Antony play I always think he looks like a midfielder on the wing.
