that’s interesting. ETH clearly sees something in him to put so much faith in him. Maybe he’s just a unlikable player who is really not that good then…

It's mentality.

Ten Hag overrates a players mentality & work rate over actual ability.

Thats why he goes for players he already knows with high work rate and a good mentality.

Onana, Weghorst, Mount, Martinez, Antony, Hojlund, Amrabat etc all have what?

A good hard working individual with the mentality to not give up.

Sounds great on paper but then ten hag is not focusing enough on a players actual abilities with the ball very well.

This is why he is horrible at signings & Ineos should take charge of that matter to their own hands whilst Ten Hag sticks to tactics.

Every team needs one and the great ones have a few but with a lot of ability to match the effort.

The only way we get a quarter of a return on his transfer fee is by loaning him to a team in one of the weaker leagues ie, Holland, Portugal, France and hoping he does well for the year.

He's had 2 years now and he's proven without any doubts that he's not good enough for any team in the premier league let alone one which has aspirations for winning trophies.

Obviously United will have to subsidize his wages by around 50 percent no doubt but it would send a good message to the remaining players and new signings that underperformance has a price.

Now Erik's staying I would at least give him this coming season to show what he can do with the distractions of what was going on in his personal life affecting him.

Another Tony Martial - someone who might make the odd appearance whilst we spend a absolute fortune in wages, only to leave on a free at the end of the contract.

Both expensive, infuriating, and unsellable players, but for very different reasons.

Antony could only dream of having Martial's ability when he was on form.
