Not only is this guy a complete flop and worth at the most 30m even in this inflated market but his fecking attitude is awful. I’ve just seen the clips of when he was asked to play LB and he throws a fit again and starts covering his mouth whilst talking to G.Jesus he did the same in the last match against Palace and got called out by Carragher

Presumably ETH can’t have failed to notice his incredibly poor attitude to being asked to move to Left Back. Hopefully that’s the last we see of Antony this season and I can’t see the new manager next season giving him the same opportunities.
For all the talk about the "same auld players" letting the managers down, it's funny because - outside of Sancho/Ronaldo - it seems like Antony is visibly the biggest player in the squad who gives ten Hag the most lip and seems the whiniest. And he's his record star signing!

One thing which doesn't get spoken about enough is how terrible his shooting is. He's completely unable to put any power into the ball or take a power shot at the goal.
It's always a weak, telegraphed curler to the top/bottom left or yet another curler which is usually off target. He can't put his laces through the ball or generate any sort of power when he's far away from the penalty box. Every keeper/defender in the league knows what he's trying to do when he gets the ball and just waits for it.
Antony has so many issues with his overall game, i think it's incredible how some people at the club looked at him and paid what they did. Ten Hag must've been been really good at convincing them to sign him, because there's no way a proper DOF or even a fan who knows a thing or two about football signs this guy. No chance.

Yeah it is an unusual niche and only part time work. The guy I know has also done some stuff for Van der Ven this season. I'm not sure if it's something the club endorse or whether it's via some sort of photography agency.
I don’t think ETH is very good at judging player ability/performance. Poor conduct seems something he’s much keener to punish.

I wonder what Ajax would have "settled" for - I can't imagine they would have turned down £50m, for example. It still would have been too much, but obviously less ridiculous. Our negotiators really got done

This meme-fication and criticism of Antony is similar to Maguire. Sad to see honestly but that's part and parcel of playing for Utd. I'm not saying all the criticism is unjust but both Utd and oppos fans are so hyperbolic with the insults and insinuation etc.
As for this particular incident, it's means jackshit because we had the exact same scenario two months ago. He was even more visibly displeased and showed disgust when he played at left back against Liverpool at the beginning of extra time. Guess what happened when it came to game time though? Played his role very well, did his job and we won the game. Although Arsenal were in 2nd gear and we couldn't create anything, Antony did his job at left back as well as you'd imagine, no major issues at all.
He's no £80m player and he's been bad this season but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a Maguire-like resurgence next year under a different manager as he does have some good attributes. Of course, it's still a low bar because that's still not good enough but at this point, you got to accept what you got, especially if the player is at least putting his effort on the pitch.

Like you said, it's part and parcel of playing for Utd. If you're not performing to the expectations of a club like United, you will get ridiculed. A Maguire-like resurgence would just mean he's less terrible than he used to be, still not at the levels required, unless the club is happy being mid-table and missing out on Europe every season.
He's got a terrible attitude and seems a bit daft. What is he doing whispering his complaints to an opponent about how he gets moved to left back? It gets even worse when you think about the fact that Ten Hag stuck his neck out to bring him to the club for a big fee and he's proven to be a failure of a signing.
I'm well aware the big if is that we start playing like a proper football team that wants to control possession and can get at opposition teams through progressive play throughout the pitch. In that setup Antony can be a 'useful' squad member the way Maguire has been; I'd much prefer to see Amad or if the next manager fancies it, Sancho there. As I said already he's not good enough but we're unlikely to get rid of him so we have to make our peace with that.
As for the 'attitude', which you're alluding to his body language in this clip, I personally don't give a crap about that. As I explained, it had no effect on the actual outcome of his left back performance, which was decent.

ETH, his previous manager, believed that he is unstoppable and he is needed for "his system". The owners should have faith on ETH, right?
You cannot trust a manager, but also do not trust his opinion about his own players. It is very different about unknown players, then you need scouts. But for his own players, it makes zero sense not to trust your manager. Or else you would need another "structure" to pick up the squad for every match since your manager is unable to evaluate his own players!
I get we want to move away from a recruitment policy that is basically run by the manager, but the fact that ETH rated him so highly after having coached him is absolutely bemusing. He seems to be a very poor judge of talent / player suitability.

We made multiple lower offers for him tbat summer and were continously knocked back by Ajax who made it clear multiple times that they didnt want to sell him, it was only when he forced their hand by threatening to go on strike they gave in and agreed a fee with us.
Ive never seen anything official about this alledged £20m valuation by our scouts and even if its true these are the same scouts who decided Haaland wasnt good enough when Ole wanted to sign him so I would take their opinion with a pinch of salt.
It seemed to be a little bit about that, when Crystal Palace were beating us by doing that.
Scouts aren't flawless, of course, but the point still stands that we seem to have been lacking a real process. It's pretty clear we should have just walked away. We are much worse off having bought him for the insane fee we did, than if we hadn't bought anyone at all.
