Lost the ball a lot. A lot of poor touches and didn't look in sync with his teammates.

He wasn’t great, but the issue is he completely carries our attack.

If Martial isn’t on form none of the other forwards can be relied upon. It’s hilarious how little goal threat we carry.

What the feck was wrong with him today? He had the attitude of a prepubescent teenager filled with angst, but there was no one to blame but himself for his shit show today. A mature performance from him today could have given us the goal we needed, yet he showed his true colors today. We can’t count on him when he displays this side of himself.

This.

Thought he had the beginnings of a little understanding between himself and Sanchez. Don't know why we didn't continue with Martial and Sanchez. Why bring Lukaku back who changes the whole dynamic?

Nothing worked out for him today but he kept tying. Good on Jose to keep playing him inspite of that. Would've busted his confidence.

Would love to see him in a proper fluid team. He'd reach new heights as a result.

I watched the first half and he was crap. Not that anyone else was much better. Ridiculous how often how our players are guilty of not being able to control or the pass the ball - the two basic traits needed of a footballer.

I saw on FTD yesterday that Wan Bisakka had only been dribbled past twice this season and straight away I was worried that our left side would be nullified what with no Shaw either

Shows how warm ups mean nothing. He was dreadful, like the rest of the team.

He most likely was, but I don't think it would have changed much. If everyone else on the team plays poorly, he's not (yet) a player that can drag the team to a win consistently.

Peaked too early

Quite poor today. Have a feeling he doesn't link well with the right footed Young behind him. I've noticed that whenever Young plays as a LB, he renders any left attacker we play that day useless, Sanchez struggled last season. Young forces the left winger inside as he cannot spread the play by making overlaps as he is right footed. Second half whenever we were in possession, Martial was too inside as Young had taken over the LW.

Plus he had two good chances that he should have converted especially as he is in form, the Matic pass, the Lingard cross and a shot he attempted towards the near post(he scored from a similar attempt against Newcastle).

There are reports in France that he is still injured and has been for a while.
Was fecking gash.

A little regression to the norm I guess. It was nice seeing him cap a couple of good moves, but you can't make a cake out of cherries.

There's also the fact that Luke Shaw was not there. Without Shaw-Martial-Pogba, there's no stringing together dangerous pass in the opponent's half. Luke Shaw is key to getting more out of Martial.

Yea, literally nothing came off for him. Even the stuff he normally does easily.

1 bad game in 2 months isn't bad. It's not like our team was great, mind.

Ashley Young killed any sort of impetus we had on the left. Players being on the same wavelength is key to any kind of football and it kept breaking down today on that side. we didn't have a right wing as usual so it made it even worse

Looked completely out of sorts. Definitely carrying some sort of issue as alluded to in the French media... never saw him stretch his legs all game really. Couldn’t even control it at times. And completely agree with the posters above; hink he missed Shaw down the left and the understanding they’ve started to forge.

It's not often some kind of excuse isn't being made for Martial's shite performances. It's the LB, it's the system, he's a striker, everyone else was bad so... It's never down to himself.

Did people actually think Lukaku was gonna be benched? That's not happening.

He was as bad as the rest. Doesn’t help him or anybody else sticking Lukaku up top again. Young doesn’t pose a threat on the outside so, Martial had two on him the whole game. Still, he lost possession too easy, especially in the first half. Even managed to dribble himself a couple of times, which was weird to see from him.

Right so just say he was shit then don’t bring young or Lukaku into it they have nothing to do with his own lack of movement, poor passing or failed attempts at dribbling. I

Calm down mate. It’s just an observation. I desperately want us to win games, so I’m speculating as to why our game changer this season was so bad. Young didn’t run past him into space once, it’s a very basic and important move from a fullback to create space. It’s just weird. If it makes you feel any better you can try only focusing on the first sentence of my post.

It was coming off for him today, but he's the least of our problems these days.

Man Utd 1:0 Young Boys
Poor game tonight. Literally every time he was on the ball he held on to it too long and lost it.

I sort of agree and disagree with what some of you are saying. When he had the ball in scoring positions he sort of fluffed his lines. But outside of that I think the rest of his play was alright. Helped us controls the early parts of it and was involved in creating a lot of the moves. Got back and defended a few times and was trying to make stuff happen.

Execution and desicion making at times were yeah poor as were most of the players.

He was terrible. He’ll never be a top class player until he greatly improves his all round game. Terrible passing and poor dribbling. At the moment he’s nothing more than a very good finisher.

Thought that was one of his worst games this season, that's always the thing with Martial he's either a 9/10 or a 2/10, still think he's our best attacker though.

I think he'll always be an inconsistent player.

He's an Arsenal player for me.

Oh well -

Martial on form check.

Use Martial - Sanchez - Rashford Check

Martial on form Check.

Randomly brings Lukaku in for Sanchez Check

Martial does not score check.

Martial does not score again check.

Martial out of form check.

Not taking any blame from him, was a shite match but I really cant blame him - no one is consistent in our matches except i'd argue smalling and de gea,

This idea that all you need to do is play him and he'll be amazing has been disproven so many times. The usual posters desert this thread when he has a bad game, and then wipe these games from their memory when he has a good game.

The lad was great for 5 games and has now been average for a few games. There's nothing wrong with that and ignoring these bad games doesnt turn Martial world class. He's not someone that performs in 9/10 games yet.
