You really can't blame a keeper for a 2v1 when the big lump at centre half has played everyone onside.

First goal, he should be dealing with easily.
Nonsense, the ball looped onto the bar. I don't know why we think everything should be saved. There is no way that is on him unless people are looking for mistakes

fecking woeful.

For someone so insanely passive it’s incredible how often he’s caught in daft positions.

I don’t know if it’s a body language thing or I’m judging due to previous errors but you constantly get the feeling that he could do better with the goals conceded.

Today was another one that looked like he could’ve got a hand to the ball.

I think it’s underplayed how much he’s costing us now. So many games are practically golden goal due to the struggles at the other end.

Not at all to blame for the second goal. First goal - this is another goal that we concede because Onana is going to ground far too readily. Lacroix's header is one typically a keeper stands up on their toes to tip over the bar, but instead the acrobatics mean he's in no position to attempt a save on the rebound. Bad keeping, and we need to give Bayindir a chance (which will happen anyway next game since it's a cup tie).

Absolutely right. I was going to say the same but you’ve summed it up much better than I would.

He's not going out to claim it so he really should be doing better there, that ball shouldn't loop over him like that.

He didn't do anything wrong today, the first goal was not on him and whether he should of tipped it over is questionable. I guessing people forgot the outstanding save to keep us in the game at 0-0....?

Reminds me of every player that the fans decide they are done with. It's like Fred, the fans took a forensic look at everything wrong and then underplay the things he done right.

It's now got ridiculous now where every goal is supposably saveable? We now have gone to the extremely where we are saying that he should be saving shots that weren't even going in just in case it comes of the bar?

People seem to have forgotten the outstanding save to get us in the game but that doesn't suit the narrative eh?

Henderson also made a few outstanding saves.

Goalkeeper who kicks the ball sideways out of bounds and never ever saves a shot not shot in a close proximity.

Onana is overweight not athletic to be a goalkeeper . There’s no excuses to be overweight when you’re a professional footballer . Slow in ball even when we losing he keeps the ball so long unacceptable .

Caught under the ball for the first with such awkward footwork and poor positioning. It's incredible how inconsistent he can be.

Whilst I won't blame him for the second goal, I'd want a bit more effort rushing to the first player before he crossed or even the second. It's a 1% or less chance but he always gets caught ball watching rather than closing space. Fundamental issue.

The second goal looked ridiculous live from east stand. He ran backwards and allowed them to walk it in. Had to get out to close the angle.

Can't comment on the first, was having a piss.

No blame for the 2nd goal, and not sure how he would have performed for the the rest of the game, but Bayindir comfortably tips the first one over. He's like 4" taller than Onana, and far more athletic, with much longer arms.
Raya wouldn't have conceeded that, and he's about the height of my cat

His vulnerabilities, particularly on crosses and corners are having a negative impact on the team. Amorin should look at promoting Bayinder to first choice.

Disagree. Nothing to do with positioning or footwork. The header looped up and hit the bar, something we have seen a million times, if you you are lucky, your defenders react quicker than their attackers. As said, never the easiest to save shots that don't look like they are going in. Pushes it over, they score from the corner, I'm sure people would have said something about that too?

The second is a gamble and if you see it, he actually gets a hand to it.

You didn't mention the outstanding save at 0-0....I guess that doesn't count?

I deliberately skipped right to the posting section so as not to be influenced by other posts.

I say that there first goal was his fault, he should have been able to tip the header over the bar.

Watch the goal again. Yes it was looping but it was straight over him in the middle of the goal. Other instances where's it's 'acceptable' to be beaten is when a keeper has gone to meet the ball/near post and it's gone to the far post. Onana's poor footwork meant he wanted to go near the ball, didn't anticipate Yoro getting beaten and then dived under the ball. He literally dives from the same spot instead of moving his feet.

Great save at 0 - 0 but so what? He's let in far too many fundamentally bad goals in the past month that it doesn't matter. He needs consistency and unfortunately for us, he's too inconsistent with his overall technique and reading of the game.

I think most goalkeepers would have tipped it over to make sure it wasn't going in or hitting the bar. He tried, but didn't get there. That's how I saw it.

No decent keeper lets that in. It was a "good" save and he pushed it out of danger, full marks. But don't make it out to be anything special.
If he let's in one like that again he may as well pack his bags.

Yep and the shirt was too heavy for him too. Not saying Onana is good enough but let's not look for mistakes that werent there today.....

Not getting a touch on the header for their first goal is woeful for someone standing that close to the goalline.

Most keepers cover the goal, the rest is a complete lottery. If it isn't tipped over, not sure they are blamed cause it hits the bar and the striker scores.

Wasn't that save....

I was sat right in line to see how high it looped over him for the first goal. No keeper is getting to that. Just unfortunate.

What I don't get is in the warmup he's pinging inch perfect balls to the halfway line that would have Scholes blushing. In the game he won't pass beyond the penalty box.
