Unreal take thisI would expect every PL keeper to make that double save atleast 95% of time. I also expect 99% keepers not to blunder that cross/pass where Ugarte saved him.

I'm still extremely sceptical. I think people were too harsh on him last year when he was being made out to be completely hopeless and the worst in the league and are now being too quick to forgive and forget this season. I think in the long run he will prove too unreliable for us but I am very much enjoying his current form, and I do like him, so hoping he maintains it long enough for me to have to reassess.I have been critical of him but he is in good form and if he can sustain this he will prove to be a good signing after all.

Reasonable points here, I think. I'm quite sure you are right with the bit at the end.I dont think so that is the case at all. They are just waiting for Onana to make a mistake (like every goalkeeper will once every so often) and will all come back with some variation of 'told you so'. Even last season when he improved from his terrible (mostly European games) start, people were nitpicking the smallest thing that could/might/maybe would have been the better action by Onana to prevent a goal even if the goal was prevented.
None has been forgotten or forgiven. It might even be worse since Onana is proving 'the doubters' wrong and it is never nice to be proven wrong. It is just that you cant really talk bad about Onana with the way he has been playing. The main criticism has been that his long kicks are not good eventhough with better finishing he could have had multiple assists by now. He put Dalot 1 on 1 with the opponent their goalkeeper last PL game for example.
Now you only have the really dedicated ''Onana outs' who even refuse to praise Onana for a fantastic double save and those will just claim any goalkeeper, or atleast 95%, would make those double saves. But i have no doubt that this topic will be filled with negative comments saying that Onana should be kicked out of the club the moment Onana makes a (small) mistake.

very solid... some players need timeOur best player this season, says a lot about where we are at.
Just want to say that he has been excellent this season. Also he is clearly great on the ball so hopefully Amorim can get the best out of that too. Pep stopped pressing him in a CL final FFS so his ball playing can be a real asset.
On the bolded bit, no matter how good of passer you are, you need movements ahead of you and passing lanes being opened up, especially if you are in GK or CB spot, maybe in CM/AM you will need to thread one through the eye of the needle as it gets more congested in the defensive third of the oppo, but for your GK, players must move consistently, make runs behind defenders, so there is options to pass to, last year Onana didn't have these movements ahead of him most of the time, this season there is a slight improvement especially with the runs from behind or FBs/Wingers being in an open space on the flanks so Onana can loft one there, he's always been an excellent distributor of the ball for a GK but he still needs movements ahead of him for his distribution to work. His distribution has been much improved this year, not that there wasn't flashes of it last year but he is just a lot more confident with it this season. With the way Amorim likes to have the goalkeeper step in as an auxiliary 3rd CB in build up while pushing one of them on into the midfield to create superiority, he could be a very valuable building block going forward.
You watched a very different match to me. It amazes me how so many people still don't understand why Onana delays in possession on occasion. Also, his distribution was very good.Vs PAOK he slowed the game down even more than Jonny Evans
And his distribution, absolutely shocking
We need a better keeper

I know. Guess I shouldn't try to understandIf this weeks world events are anything to go by some people just have an unshakeable agenda regardless of any evidence to the contrary

There's loads of times he claims a ball and looks to set a quick counter, but nobody makes the move.
When he has the ball to feet, if he wants to move it quicker the players around him have to react quicker and make the right angles. Utd don't have the right midfielders dropping and rotating between the lines to do that.
He's been very good this season in many aspects of the game. But, people still don't like him because he had a few bad mistakes last year.
Can’t believe you haven’t made a connection with Onana struggling to play it out from the back / distribution and the lack of movement and ball being treated like a grenade in every other area of the pitch. Issues that predate him by years too.Vs PAOK he slowed the game down even more than Jonny Evans

His distribution absolutely is not a mixed bag.His distribution is a mixed bag
