I like him better when he is playing as a psuedo right winger where he can run with the ball, dribble, press to win the ball from the FB and cause damage.
I think he’s better further forward, but because our squad is so terrible in wide areas, he has to play there.

Maybe next season when Amorim’s given the budget to buy more suited players we will see the best of him further forward.

Maybe that is the reason. All other options we have used there so far - Maz, Dalot, Malacia and Antony - aren't capable of producing any offensive output and in this system you need your WB's to contribute offensively. We have looked pretty toothless from wide area whenever Amad has started as one of the three attacking players. His long term position maybe as one of the #10's but for now I would like to see him play as a RWB.

People keep saying move him back to RWB but that means asking your best progressive/creative player to be deeper. Your essentially saying 'hey I want you Amad to do the same stuff such as link up play, be creative, carry the ball and make productive final decisions in the penalty box from the halfway line and oh Garnacho/Rashford/Bruno will be playing ahead of you, so good luck with getting the ball off them'. The larger issue today was Amorim switching Dalot from RWB where Amad had a decent understanding and link up with in the first half to LWB. Then it was further compounded it by taking off Ugarte so all control was lost for that 10 min period.

Yeah, and also Amad just had a really poor shooting day. Happens. The bigger issue is the lack of quality around him to pick up the slack when he's not executing at the highest level.

It used to be so good. Funny how often that happens here.

It was? There have been multiple games since Amorim came in that Amad came into a position where a good shot could have resulted in a goal. I remember one againt Everton where he didnt even get the attempt on target for example. I think his finishing is actually something he can improve on quite a bit.

Outside of his corner deliveries he was bad today. His workrate was still there but attacking wise he was poor and his shooting was wayward.

He's snatching at his shots a bit, he needs to calm down a little and he'll start banging them in. We know he has the talent.

I thought he was very good today. Only player who could play in tight spaces, only player who could pass quickly.

He has no one to play with, no one to link up with. We don't want him to turn into Rashford/Garnacho trying to solo everything so we will never get his full potential out of him until we get better players around him.

Yea he did quite well. Did well with the pullback for Bruno and put in quite a few good corners. Ultimately he gets marked down a bit today because his shooting was quite erratic.

Definitely gets a break compared to the rest due to playing so well recently but he wasn't at his best today.

I'm more talking about his time at Sunderland.

Whole team was bad today. One good thing to take with us is that he might be the best corner taker we’ve had here in a long time. Good whip and in the danger area constantly.

His shooting has been so poor this season, needs to get that sorted out asap. Should have scored at least 1 if not 2 goals today.

Only positives today were his corners, really excellent
Disagree, but probably agenda at work. Amad our best attacker.

I would argue for general ability on the ball he embarrassed the rest of our squad. The way he moves with the ball, the fact he has the best composure and can quickly do short passes.

This is what many have said our players are not good enough at, and Amad is proving us right.

Good player, works hard, has a lot of a talent. But a starter in a top talk EPL team that only plays with 3 attackers?

No

There is an odd reoccurrence at United, where there is only ever 1 attacker that’s on form at any given time.

November and December it was Amad’s, but it’s unrealistic to expect him to be great ever week.

The other players need to step up! otherwise the opposition just needs to shuffle over a bit towards Amad’s side of the pitch and bingo United’s attack is nullified.

I'd switch him back to wingback against Wolves. Dalot and Maz just don't offer enough going forward. We need some actual quality down the wing if we're gonna stick with this formation.

Disagree - I think he’s the sort of player whose game will elevate the more quality you surround him with, and the sort of player who will help elevate the game of those around him once more talented, technical players are brought in.

Also worth noting that Amorim’s system is not based on only having three attackers. When his system is employed properly and with the right personnel, both the WBs and even the CMs should be providing lots support in attack.

This 100%. Both wingbacks and atleast one CM are always in the mix when they team is in full flow.

Agree. I find it interesting to see so many fans who think they can determine how players would do in other circumstances. It doesn’t take more than one look at Man C to know that players don’t perform linearly but are very dependent on their surroundings on and off the pitch.

The caf would write off Haaland and KdB if they played here.

Wolves 2:0 Man Utd New
Starting to think hes better as a wingback. Gets the ball more and in more space to run with it

Way to ruin a good thing by playing him as a #10. It has also killed our attacking impetus and made us a more defensive team.

Probably has to play wingback by virtue of the sole fact he is the only player in the side who can play there to a half decent standard

Wolves identified he was our best attacking wepon and they were all over him.
Happened against Bournemouth too. Double/triple mark Amad when he receives the ball = we have no idea what to do

Not just the change of role, he is now being targeted as our main threat, teams are doubling him up.

It's compounded by Dalot and Bruno being useless on the left too since Wolves left loads of space down that side because they knew we'd do nothing with it.

Was okay. Was getting 2-3 players attention the moment he had the ball. Its the brain dead movement around him that was the issue

I feel it’s combined with Bruno being the other 10, who drifts around - making Dalot the one who sticks to the wing, whom the teams can safely ignore.

He's been shooting every chance he gets. I hope this run of form doesn't get to his head and ruin it our season.

The problem with Amad, is the positioning of the players around him. Too often he gets the ball on the wing and has almost the winger and fullback pressing him, with another 2 opposition players behind them. So he ends up having to turn back There are not enough bodies around him to link up with. Additionally, Mazraoui as technically good as he is, doesn't have the engine needed to be a wingback. Think Amad really needs Dalot behind him at least providing a more consistent double threat when he gets the ball.

Fair to say that fans have extreme opinions on our players. He is a good player, not great. The ceiling of the squad should be higher, and that includes all of our front 3 or 4 players.
