He's the profile we've lacked in attack for so long, a forward who can dribble in tight zone s, is quick, plays with his head up, can press, intelligent etc.
We always had pace like Rashford and Garnacho. We never had this profile who can knit play together in the final third.
He is what I hoped Sancho would be at United.

To be fair, we have not even seen the best of him yet, always just flashes. He has the ability to also play quick with his intelligence.

Once we are fully up and running in our system, I expect to see alot more from him.

I have to say though, I worry about him going up against a quick and direct left winger. His defensive positioning is still not ideal, I could see him getting caught out by a martinelli a bunch of times against Arsenal
He's too intelligent for that. Martinelli might catch him once but he will learn from that and it won't happen a second tie

Did we ever get these in depth positional interviews with ETH? Genuine question because I never watched any of his press conferences because he was boring as feck
I stopped listening to him at the end , the same repetitive thing week after week and bringing up 2 trophies in 2 years

Yes, even though he has developed a bit and got a bit stronger over the years he has been close to this player we are seeing now for a long time. His footballing iq, his quick feet, vision, balance, anticipiation, weight of pass, wand of a left foot… most of it has been there since he was a teenager. Was a bit weird to see him thrown back to the U21s for a short spell. Even weirder that van Bronckhorst thought he was not good enough to play for Rangers. Dutch managers are just an odd bunch i guess…
Compilation below is from a wide timespan, even some moments from Atalanta.
Just glad that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves. Not many players in the prem with higher ”edge of your seat” factor than Amad right now.

Yeah, shame he never got proper run of games. Good to see him getting lot of trust from Amorim. He will be our player of the year, him or Mazaroui.

Right now I'd say the leading candidate for club player of the year is Onana, who has quietly been outstanding. He's made a few saves already that would raise the eyebrow of De Gea and has been a steady contributor with the ball at his feet.

Has there been a better keeper in the PL so far this season? I doubt it.

Onana has to be in the mix as well so far, which offers mixed feelings

Tbf, experienced PL fullbacks can be rinsed by Martinelli if he has a good day. I suppose the idea with this system is that he has the support of the RCB which makes it easier for him.

If Garnachio made passes to a team mate as often as Amad i think we would have almost doubled our goalscore this year so far...

We tend to play a back four out of possession so Mazraoui will be the one facing Martinelli.

Arsenal 2:0 Man Utd New
Thought he was decent when he managed to get near the ball but we did an awful job of finding him.

Your best and inform players should always play.

Great skill and strength when he skinned Zinchenko.

The only player who got on the ball and made anything happen. No way he should be playing so far away from goal. You don't use your best forward at wingback.

He should have started instead of do nothing Mount and couldn't believe he was stuck to RWB even when Antony came on.

Couldn't understand that either, although they seemed to be playing almost level with eachother, with Antony inside a bit. Which is mental, you obviously want Amad more central.

He's still underrated in my opinion, I don't know but something about him maybe he's too meek puts him in this position.

He was high enough but should have that freedom to roam instead of Antony. Our players forcing all the play from left and not getting the ball to him was criminal.

I know he’s been playing well but I think he has to start in the front 3. None of the rest have his tight control and ability to beat a man.

Just looks like a brilliant player where he absolutely has world class potential, explosive, and can dribble past anyone.

Looked threatening when he had the ball but we didn’t get it out to him enough

If Gif Lord was still around I’d get him to do a replay of that pass Rashford attempted out wide to him that he hit at 100mph

Think he’ll get an opportunity there.

Amorim has been very clever with his rotation. Not just player rotation but trying them in different positions.

We’ve had
Garnacho WB and 10
Rashford Striker and 10
Zirkzee Striker and 10
Bruno 10 and 8
Mazraoui WB and CB

Just think with a fully fit squad (yoro back and Mazaraoui at WB…it frees Amad to play centrally behind the striker.

I’m looking forward to it

I think he will once we get our back three sorted meaning maz can play as a wingback (and should hopefully see amad further forward)

Liked his performance but yeah should be playing behind the striker. Guess Amorim will try many different combinations before settling for one next season, with these and some new players.

Mistake not playing him the full 90 against Zinchenko.
I presume it was due to the tiredness and cramping he had towards the end of the Everton match. It was probably felt that he could only play 45 minutes of this one, and Amorim chose the second half. In hindsight it probably would have been better to have him in the first half while we were having decent possession and control, but obviously that's easy to say with the benefit of hindsight.

Of course, it does raise the question of whether we should have taken him off earlier in the Everton match.

When did Garnacho play WB? I thought he's only been a 10 so far.

We need more players like him and less of Rashfords and Garnachos. This team needs as many technical players as possible and we have so few of them. Sell each of the counter attacking frauds.

Amad is a victim of his own success, not a fan of the way he's being managed. Because he's surprised most people and adapted well to a position he shouldn't really be playing on paper then he'll potentially be stuck playing there indefinitely. He's our best attacking player, he shouldn't be spending most of the game defending his back post. He'll have good games but I'm convinced we'll get far more out of his talent if he's played in attack.

Is that really going to be the case for most games under Amorim? Asides from Arsenal, City and Liverpool away, you'd expect our RWB to spend more time in the final third than the defensive third.
