Alex Sandro

Full package left back with valuable CL experience and that's where United also need aim to improve.

Can dribble, cross, tackle. Decent acceleration. Getting some serious Evra vibes about this dude. Plus he can head!

Sign him up

There's indeed a chance his crossing ability will make him even bigger hit than Evra was.

Yep a kid who did well in Scotland is just what we need to take us back to the top.

Get your head out your arse I don’t care where he comes from. Have you even saw this kid? He’s a top prospect much like VVD was when he was up here and he’d walk into our side just now plus he’s a good bit younger. Plenty other players left these shores in recent years from even the lower leagues here to the PL and done well. Then we have guys like Wanyama who did well. Are you really suggesting we don’t sign him as he’s from Scotland?

I really hope we get this guy, i'm sick and tired of playing with no attacking support.

Is there an actual available player to buy around the world that is approved by everyone in the caf? It looks like Sandro is either overrated or the best fullback in the world.

Yeah it's such a weird argument. Most of these best players in PL are from Dutch, Portuguese, French leagues.

Sandro is 27 which is 3 years away from 30 which is basically retirement age.

We're not even talking about the same player, if you'd read on instead you'd have seen that. Take care.

I'm not sure if it's me putting too much expectations on this lad due to the press he gets on this site, but anytime I watch him he's very average. He's not bad, but I keep waiting on him doing something sublime, which he's not really there to do in fairness. I remember feeling the same way when people here linked us with Fabinho and then Morata at the start of the season. There were according to some on here the best things since sliced bread. I'd take Sandro, he could be effective in the right formation, but part of me just wants a new full back and I hope I don't get too desperate. He's a good player but like most he's way overpriced. T

There isn't really any "sublime" fullbacks out there at the moment who aren't already at a big club.

Sandro is probably the best/most complete player we can get right now. He's good at everything and doesn't really have any weaknesses.

Darmian + cash for Alex Sandro would make so much sense for everyone involved. Darmian is very underrated by United supporters and would walk straight into the starting 11 of Juventus and Italy. Serie A and Juventus would suit him far better than Premier League and Manchester United. Alex Sandro has been underperforming for Juventus this season, and Juventus haven't been happy with his attitude and performances lately. I think he needs to move in order to get back to his best level, and we surely need a new left back this summer. Mourinho would love the combination of Brazilian flair and defensive scholarship from his time in Italy. I would say that Sandro is a slightly better player than Darmian, but his playing style would suit us far better than the Italian.

Very few FBs have the wow factor that the likes of Marcelo or Alves have. Sandro is top drawer, solid defensively and good going forward. He'll be a heck of an upgrade but yeah, he's not going to set the place on fire like a marcelo does.

But also he wont be caught out of position like Marcelo is. Pros and Cons.

He's not in the WC squad. Wonder why ?

Not a key member of their squad looking at his career. Its a good thing if we are buying him. Remember that Fernandinho was only a bit part international for them before City signed him. It doesn't necessarily reflect badly on him.

Poor form and or good enough!
When in form like his last years until this season he is better than Luis imo. But theres a perception that he is not giving everything for Juventus in the last months and Tite is a moralist.

Should be fresh for pre-season then

Sandro hasn't made the Brazilian world cup squad. Truly shocking decision that. But from a selfish perspective, if we do sign him, that means we can get him in for a full pre-season.

It's not exactly surprising that he isn't going to the WC looking at who they're bringing.

To be fair, Brazil have the best LB in the world in Marcelo. And like someone else mentioned, they have Filipe Luis as the more defensive fullback.

I’m happy he’s not in the World Cup squad to be honest as it’ll make the signing much easier as he and his agent will be available for the deal to get signed quickly, barring injury to Marcelo he’d have not played anyway so it’s win/win for us.

People are just too desperate, they will tell you they watch regularly 20 games of Monaco, Juventus, Madrid and few other teams across the world every season and think this and that player is world beater whereas they don't really watch those games, some highlight reel here and there maybe. The sensation-seeking and ever-present media won't help, they will hype the players with unreal money quoted because simply they want to sell papers. Then you see the fans of the club with one of the biggest budgets in Europe struggling in some positions but mainly due to a system played and they want something to cheer about, let's take this player let's take that player! I want this and that and they are desperate.

And I agree we need replacements for both side of defence but I think people will be disappointed to see Sandro doing much better going forward then Ashley Young who has also a decent cross on him, can actually dribble past players on an occassion and is defensively sound with the same speed. Sandro sounds like a player who will end up in China, Ac Milan or Turkey in a year or two, don't see him upping our game other than being a good younger option to have.

Now I didn't see hardly enough of Tierney to justify my opinion on him, perhaps the same people catch some 20 games of Celtic every season too, so they could tell, but the kid looks much more promising attacking wise to me, very explosive with great pace and shot and also a great character, he's already a captain of Celtic at 20 which says something, looking much more hungry, unlike lethargic Brazilian, he wouldn't cost half/third of what Sandro costs.

I think we will buy someone completely else though, it's just this media speculation which makes everyone world beater, it drives me crazy.

Not sure if Filipe Luiz is better defensively. Felipe Luiz isn't exactly strong 1 vs 1 defensively and not that tactical astute when it comes to picking right decisions when being outnumbers by runners. Him being part of Atletico team doesn't tell the whole story about him individually since Atletico system provides that extra protection with their false wingers (Koke & Saul).

Anyways it would be good for us if we're really into Sandro. Knocking some fee off WC performance tax, and being fresh for new season

“Sounds like”

This. If we're looking at signing 3-4 players in the space of 1 month from World Cup to transfer deadline, then it would be nice with some time for getting a yay / nay on Alex Sandro, so we can buy or move on in time.

Reminds me of Saha. Couldn't get a sniff of the senior squad, joins United and he's suddenly an immediate requirement for France. Granted, it wasn't solely down to the transfer to a bigger club but certainly seemed on the surface to have a massive influence.

sandro is an excellent FB who is solid at the back and with decent technique and a good cross. He is comfortable across all the left flank (fb, wb and lw). He can be a bit mentally fragile but he is still an excellent player

He is a perfect teacher for sessegnon and a great addition to the team

Amazing that people don't want this guy. What else is out there and available at anywhere near his level? We're lucky he's available and if we can wrap it up quick it allows us to focus on other problem areas. We have a lot of work to do before the world cup starts.

. I would say that Sandro is a slightly better player than Darmian, but his playing style would suit us far better than the Italian.
Slightly better than Darmian? Feck me, sign him up right now!

when was the last time the scottish league produced a world class player?

I feel like this guy will end up being a solid, if ultimately unspectacular signing. He'd show competence at all aspects of the game without setting any pulses racing. Would prefer to get someone like Odriozola for the other side if this goes ahead.

sandro is a slight upgrade to darmian. In fact if you remove his technique, his cross, his versatility and his superior ability in defending then he is practically Darmian
