Alex Sandro

From that Castles piece it says the price is £22.9m, what made his price drop so dramatically from last summer? They were asking for about £60m at one point if I remember rightly.

22.9m is the price Juve signed him from Porto.

Sorry, but this opinion has really been catching on the forum of late, and is absolute crap.

Our full-backs are far from great, but to say Young and Valencia are not allowed to get forward is complete bullshit.

How often do they overlap and get to the byline to make simple cut backs like Walker does at City, or Marcelo and Carvajal?

I'm not sure that's tactical. Young always comes inside onto his right foot and Valencia can't dribble past opposing fullbacks to save his life so he always passes sideways as soon as he's pressed.

And you decided this based on an 8 minute video?

Also comparing goals and assists for full backs, is and has always been completely stupid.
Productivity is part of the game of a modern fullback, of course I have stated many times in this thread that it's not the whole picture but can tell you something. Young has been supporting attack this season all the time while being defensively very solid, which could be backed by the statistics I posted above at least in comparison with Sandro and obviously all the games United played I watched.

I am not basing it on a 8minute video only,I saw his highlights form last year too and mainly I took the video as an example of his best pieces of attacking play put together in a compilation where he didn't convince me as much in a combination with a couple of games from Champions league, think it was an away game to Sporting and a loss against Madrid where he didn't convince me to be the world beater people talk about but yeah I know it is not a big sample so I looked up some statistics which might help in this case.

And I would like to hear from all the people who are criticizing my posts here how many games they have actually seen. I was being totally honest but surely there is a lot of posters here who have time to watch 20 Juventus games per season like the other poster to be totally convinced by the lad n addition to 60 games of United and other favourite teams in different leagues. Certainly if he's at least as half as good most of the experts on Juventus here say I want him in United shirt next year. Just send them the 60m already, peanuts! And of course they will want Darmian in exchange or value him at 20m euros, something has to sell the papers these days, yawn..

What's the point if he won't be allowed to go beyond the 16 yard box? Pretty sure he'll spend most of his being made to cross from deep, then most of the wankers on here complaining that he can't cross.
I'm not sure how he's supposed to cross from deep on his left foot.

Yeah he was class at Wembley against Spurs getting caught to far up the pitch allowing Eriksen the freedom of the pitch to set up Ali.You simply cannot compare Young to Sandro.

Because they, and the team as a whole do not play identically to City doesn’t mean they are instead waiting back in their own half. That isn’t true. Ashley Young for a start has created many goals this season, probably more than Walker.

yet you brought nothin into discussion:rolleyes: thanks for constructive critique. It is easy to get excited about players from other teams which you saw playing maybe in a game or two yourself which has almost identical stats to Ashley Young in a defensive set up team.

So for you again:
Ashley Young - 3006 mins = 2g + 7a
Alex Sandro - 3100 mins = 4g + 6a

btw A. Sandro 16/17 is on 3g+7a in his arguably best season
15/16 he's on 2g+5a
Is he a 60m upgrade on Young again playing in a more defensive team? Certainly we need a player there, should we make the move for Sandro though? And how many full games have you watched him in (which ones?) and basing your opinion on, I wonder?

If he was playing for Vasco da Gama you could play this who has ever watched him card. Not for a player who has played for Juve for three seasons a side that is in the business end of the CL every season.

Yawn is right. Your posts are terrible.

Darmian + Cash for Sandro would be amazing, Darmian has been near useless except for a few last ditch tackles in the EL final.

The Times, eh?

This shall be The One thread for the summer - I can feel it in my Kermit

@VanGaalEra @ChaddyP

Now, who was the third lad from our epic summer of PP?

I am just desperate to see a LB that's actually left footed .

I have seen a lot of Juventus this season, but can’t say that I’ve ever seen enough of Alex Sandro to comment on his true ability. I’ve seen him glide up the pitch like a winger, I’ve seen him be severely out of position many times as a consequence.

Intertingly, he’s 27 and hasn’t played a lot of games to be honest. Since he came to Europe, he’s played 25, 26, 28, 23, 27 and 22/23 games in the league - why is that? We can’t afford to pay 60M for a guy that spends 1/3 of the season on the sidelines or constantly works to get back from injury.

Come on guys. Let’s give Shaw one more chance. I can feel this is his season.

Sandro didn't stand out the games I saw this season. I hope he can recover his level.

TBH, I was more impressed by Tierney when I watched Celtic. Also, I watched Sessegnon, good player but he didn't play as left back.

#ManchesterUnited, ready the offensive for #AlexSandro: Juve's third party is Mourinho's Goal 1 for the left lane. To beat the competition of the #PSG. Manchester City and Chelsea are the other Premier clubs interested, but United wants to speed up. #calciomercato

So much for Ashley Young’s 50 games next season (thankfully). That said, I’d take him over Valencia at RB.

Although the interest shown by some other clubs doesn't make much sense
PSG - severely hampered by FFP, about to buy Mbappe for 160 mill, the last thing they need is a 50 mill plus Fb
Chelsea - have Alonso, bought Palmeri just a few months back and looks like Roman is tightening the purse strings
City - already have the costliest LB in the world plus a very good backup in Delph

@Rozay maybe as backup to new LB and Valencia

Yea but 50 games?

Maybe as a RB, rotating with Valencia if we are not buying a right back. Shaw to rotate with Sandro.
Shaw is most probably gone, especially if we are looking at a large rebuild with 4 plus players coming in.
Shaw is one of the few players we have who would fetch a decent amount

If it’s true that Jose berated Shaw for being ‘too far forward’ is Sandro really going to be in Jose’s plans being an attacking LB?

He had no injury problems. He just did not perform this season and in many games Asamoah was preferred to him.

I don't think Sandro is a priority.

Young has done a great job this season, while Demetri Mitchell has been amazing for Hearts on loan and deserves a chance to take over from young.

There are other priorities to spend the money on and I'd look to replace Valencia at right back ahead of left back. He is in slow decline and it's a position we lack back up for (as in attacking full backs).

Yep a kid who did well in Scotland is just what we need to take us back to the top.

We should be buying talent based on performance. Not age and where they're from.

This "kid who did well in Scotland" is meant to be a real gem of a player.
