Why not? Amad did it very well and is now returning to attack - maybe it could be the same route for Garnacho. Unlike Rashford, he has workrate to play LWB, and besides he would be replacing a currently underperforming Dalot (so it’s easier to add value in this case)

Amad defensively is solid and on the attack can beat players creating chances. He’s a natural dribbler with good link up play, if he can sort the final third he is a top talent.

Garnacho could play LWB, he should be given a chance.

Let’s see how long it takes for some of the Spanish tabloids to start stirring the pot.

If he isnt in the Thursday squad for Spurs game then that would be very telling.

Hopefully he has been advised to pipe down on SM and just get on with it.

Just wonder what kind of outside advice he gets these days as the Prima Donna behaviour is being inflated from somewhere.

Hope he knuckles down as there is a massive talent there.

That might be the problem, he has no guidance and is on his own and family/agent.

always have felt he will leave us sooner or later. seems he has little emotion attachment to the club (well, like his idol ronaldo to any club), unlike mainoo (who is boyhood fan of course) or amad

Garnacho is just another recent example of a youth player who, in a strong united team, is talented enough to be part of the squad but not quite there yet in terms of being in the starting 11. However, he breaks through at a low point in the team and finds himself thrust into the starting 11. Ideally he'd have spent more time on the bench than starting. If it is true that he is causing issues behind the scenes then we should get rid. He hasn't shown anything at least to me to show that he will be anything more than a good squad player.

I have a feeling that if someone can manage him it's Amorim. He's certainly the one to give chances to every single player who commits. And Garnacho doesnt have that looser mentality like Rashford, and at 20 plenty of confidence left. If he leaves, we can cash out nice money and reinvest, but he's worth developing.

I think the idea of him at wing back in this system is quite exciting. Firstly I think it takes away the option of just purely focusing on getting the ball and cutting inside trying to shoot.

It will force him to use more parts of his game than we have seen lately and I also think he is far better at taking players on from a bit deeper than he is around the box.

As far as the defensive side, he has always been pretty game and I think in this system there isn't a huge pressure for the wing back to be a great defender. He also has the physical stamina to play the role.

It really isn't working out for Dalot on that left side so I'd like to see it tried at least.
Has he ever said that he doesn't like playing wing back? Or has he ever played there?

I hope Garnacho (along with Rashy) take being left out as a reality check and I hope it got under their skin to fight for their place. I think the manager did right leaving them out. Probably the two 'star' players at the club, left side-lined due to standards. The ability is there but they both need to be consistent every day.

Ahh feck, would of been nicer if he was involved against City and then won this...but never mind.

Congrats Garnacho!

Hope he is in the squad for Tottenham and we can move on from the weekend drama.

He's just a kid and a lot of support along with some tough luck is maybe all he needs to be a world beater, given the abundance of talent

He's been overplayed the last couple of years out of desperation. We've not really developed him well.

Not sure where he fits into a RA formation, I don't see him having the defensive strength to be a wing back, and he's not a number 10. Great talent, but if he doesn't fit in the system, maybe we sell while we can get a good fee?
That’s what I think may be the source of some of his frustration. His ego is telling him that he can follow in the footsteps of his idol Ronaldo but he can’t exactly show off if he’s playing LWB. It’s time for him to be humble and flexible

I don't know if he has it in him. I hope so. He's still very young but he strikes me as the type of player that wants to be the main man. His idol is CR7 after all.

He has nowhere near the talent to even compare himself to young Ronaldo, let alone the 2006-2018 Ronaldo.

They say he still didn’t post anything about the derby win. Why could it be, is he not happy that we win against City?
So posting stuff on social media is a problem, not posting is a problem too? We need to leave these players be for fecks sake.

True but it’s a touch disingenuous not to interpret his silence as some kind of statement (much like not celebrating a goal), when he’s previously been very active on social media (I’d wonder the same if Rasmus didn’t post something after a match.)

Depends on how much he's otherwise posting. If he's not posting much on social media atm, then there's no problem. If however he's very active on social media but just didn't say anything about our game, then that's not a great look.

I don't follow him on anything (and don't know what social media he normally uses) so really don't have any idea.

Can you point to a single instance of people saying a social media post celebrating a win is a problem? If not what the feck are you on about?

This is just a really poor attempt to try and construct criticism as unreasonable. You've basically said 'People complain when he likes posts criticising our players then complain when he doesn't congratulate his team on social media, lad can't win'.

Have you seen the reactions to Rashfords post after the derby win? There was even a nutjob going after De Gea after his 'seen this movie before' tweet after the derby

If he wants to join the JLingz, Pogba, Rashford and Sancho School of Media Irresponsibility then it doesn't matter how talented he is, he's on the track to ultimate failure.

What a crap mentality to be leaking your club lineup for some more pounds. I hope they are named and shamed for life.

I still don’t understand why so many are questioning Garnacho’s ability to adjust to different positions/tactics. Over time, he has consistently displayed that he tracks back and helps out the fullback, so why wouldn’t he be flexible in terms of positioning and learning under Amorim? It’s hardly a surprise that young talents will test the waters when they get a taste of being hyped up, it’s up to the club/manager to keep them grounded. Greenwood went from being a hard working player to hardly working, his main interest on the pitch was being at the end of things rather than also doing the «dirty work»

When that’s said, it’s easy to get the sense that it’s up to everyone to prove that they belong at the club, and that Garnacho either displays that or he doesn’t and we aim to get rid.

It’s the best thing Scholes has ever said. I love him as a player, but he’s so thick it’s not even funny.

Lets completely burn this current Manchester United player over something he said to me in private in my role as a former United player and essentially a legend, and then state that maybe it’s not something he’d want you to make public to absolutely everyone.

It’s up there with him sucking toes.

Hopefully all this was the kick up he arse he needed to push on because his game has become somewhat predictable and his deficiencies stand out more when his output isn't there. If he could work on his first touch and decision making he'd be a force. Still time, still young and hopefully mature enough now to use this opportunity to push on.

Come on, it's an offense, but hardly anything he can't come back from.
Captain should be fining him heavily and leave it at that, dealt with away from social media. Keane wouldn't have stood for it. He's still the bar.
