moan moan moan - that's all people do here. This place is so depressing sometimes, not sure why I even bother posting here...come to think of it, I probably won't today.

Moaning is a good way for posters to get noticed. Being positive, not so much.

So much Mata moaning going on. We scored 3 goals last week and RvP got one of them.

It's not the attack I'm worried about.

Exactly, so much moaning in here about our attack, no mater who we play their it will still be scary, I'm just worried about how this young McNair will do.

Another poor team selection from LVG. Thorpe should be miles ahead of McNair in the pecking order. Again picking 3 centre forwards when we need a more solid balanced team. An attack without any pace or width. Maddening

Strange that, because the attack did absolutely fine last week. Now it's suddenly not good enough?

Considering how bad RVP and wayne rooney have been so far mata should be in the side ahead of either. Rooney seems untouchable and RVP is in need of games.

I'm normally positive but playing West ham right now is something we could have done without always a tough game.

Why drop RVP when he scored last game and had a good understanding with Falcao?

If anything drop the shite that is Wayne Rooney. Some of you lot are mental.
Agreed. Although we were awesome attacking wise last weekend, i thought our movement was not as smooth as the game against QPR. That was due to Rooney instead of Mata as a 10.
Before start of the season, i thought our best no. 10 was Mata, Kagawa, Rooney in that order. But now Kagawa sold and Mata benched. Hope LVG knows his stuff.

Mata too lightweight to play against West Ham. What the f mate? We're not going to launch air balls at him. We're going to dominate the game at home and he is the one who can open their defense as well as score a goal. He's even more lethal than RVP in front of goal these days. Ridiculus that RVP starts when he is in such bad form.

I stated Mata was light weight for West ham because they have very physical defenders who can out muscle him.Its horses for courses basically, there is no guarantee we are going to dominate today, and maybe LVG thinks RVP is better than Rooney leading the line, while Rooney is better than Mata at attacking midfield.

I wouldnt say RVP has been in bad form,he is finding his feet.He scored a goal last week,is a very important player,a matchwinner. He hasnt had a proper preseason, and he usually takes a bit of time to get going.I think people have forgotten how good this guy is!! Give him a chance today,he very may well give you a pleasant surprise.

The thing is LVG wants his diamond to be fluid, compress the midfield when the opposition have the ball, stretch it when we're in possession. Mata might score 2 but Rooney can score plus will give the work rate too. It's the same reason Mourinho was willing to give up mata for Rooney.

Don't get me wrong I love mata, but whatever we think of Rooney he puts in a shift.

Rooney arguably played better in that position last match and offers more defensively. I don't disagree about RVP but Rooney played good last week

We're at home to West Ham. What you're saying might be true, but he can afford to experiment this setup at home to a bottom half team.

Rooney has been fine, especially in the last game. To say he's been the same as RVP is frankly laughable.

    Rooney deserves to be playing.

Yes it is. Mata should play instead of RVP as he is significantly better at the moment. Messi is also significantly better than Neymar even though Neymar is a fantastic player.

Mata can not play Striker, so its like comparing iniesta vs neymar. Mata is playing better than RVP but they are not a straight swap as the manager thinks Rooney is best behind the strikers, hence the reason hes playing there instead of Mata

Hope you're right. But look at Mata's statistic. He has been amazing so far. He is also a very agile player who is used to the league and it's physical defenders. He is very good at dodging tackles and he won't be put under a lot of pressure.

i'm a big fan of van persie, but we must admit that he showed his best already.
van gaal should bring mata as a #10 and use rvp as an impact player from the bench in the second half.

praying we get 3 points today..

Good team I reckon. I wouldn't be averse to seeing Mata for RVP but as other's have mentioned we look good going forward. However every time I've seen RVP this season he looks off the pace. Unlucky for Thorpe, he deserves a start, good luck to McNair though, excited to see Shaw today as well, we have serious pace on the left which is great to see. Going for a 3-1 win.

It's great to see McNair get his debut but Christ we look suspect at the back. It's not the best circumstances for a young player to make their debut is it? He'll be partnered with Rojo who's also playing his first game at CB in the Premier League and looked more like a League One player last week.

On the plus side, we're playing players in their correct positions at least and it's good to see Shaw get his league debut for us. Hopefully our attacking players are on song because West Ham are pretty decent going forward and we will likely give away a goal or two.

2 goals and 2 assists for Rooney so far
and RVP scored in the last match
    how bad have they been?

People are panicking about the wrong end of the pitch with all the RVP moaning, we'll score goals, no one should be worried about that aspect.
Yep. Very nervous about that defense.

I think Rooney is just as good at the striker position as in the 10 role. At least almost. Especially when Falcao is the poacher next to him. Therefore I think that Mata behind Rooney and Falcao is definitely better than Rooney behind Falcao and RVP. But we'll see.

    Definition of a luxury problem.

Really hope attacking players take their chances. West ham definitely gonna get a goal or two.

Too many strikers. Defence didn't have adequate protection from midfield. Rooney behind two centre forwards is something a ten year old would come up with in football manager. People pretending its fine because its LVG

The people talking about Mata being too lightweight for West Ham, you talk of him like he's a kid. He spent two years at Chelsea giving the rest of the league a collective aneurism, FFS! It is pretty simple. Mata keeps possession better, Rooney "puts a shift in". Depends on what you prefer, I know which one I would rather have had both today and last week, and it wasn't our Captain Not So Fantastic...

Attack did even better the week before as well without RVP giving any real major contribution as well.

Simpler option is to just bench van Persie.

Can't believe van Persie starts again! He has done sweet feck all the whole season! All he does, when hes not offside (which is seldom) is play the easiest pass (usually backwards) then quickly run back into the offside whilst giving no chance to any would-be passer. If Rooney had been performing anything like this everyone would be calling for his head (even more than usual:eek:), but van Persie seems to be above criticism.

All six of our summer signings start as well as an academy graduate making his debut. Completely new Manchester United side.
I have high hopes for McNair. Is he ready though? I'm not so sure.
However the reason I replied to this post is to say that given the recent results and the bad feeling around the Club at the moment, the fact that we have a new team fills me with belief that things are going to improve and fast.
Big difference from the feeling last year as I’m sure you will remember, we are going in the right direction at last I believe. It' frustrating yet exciting times :)
