We're at home to West Ham. What you're saying might be true, but he can afford to experiment this setup at home to a bottom half team.
Not sure I agree. His experiments have us in mid table. With such an inexperienced defence we should be setting up a bit more solidly than picking 3 centre forwards

Can't pretend i've seen Thorpe or Mcnair before, so other than Mata being left out i'm happy with that. Can't wait to have a look at Rojo at CB and Shaw.

Who is the better 10 player? Rooney or Mata?. is Rooney a 10 role player?. Why is RvP on the team when he can't preform?. This team lacks serious balance with 3 strikes and one Di Maria that is only that create creativity. I be really suprise if we managed to win this.

    Not at all.

I bet if you asked most non-rooney fanboys or any non-united fan, they would agree.

Two world class managers in a row have preferred Rooney over Mata. Rooney is also quite far ahead of RVP as it is right now

Hope you're right. But look at Mata's statistic. He has been amazing so far. He is also a very agile player who is used to the league and it's physical defenders. He is very good at dodging tackles and he won't be put under a lot of pressure.
I know man, look at my profile details under the favourite player category : its Mata.

I think its great,we have players like Di Maria,Rooney,RVP and Falcao on the pitch, and others like Mata,Januzaj on the bench, its brilliant!!

I suppose my concern for McNair is that he is making his debut next to a player who doesn't speak any English at all. Could do with a Carrick/Fletcher type in front of him at the very least to talk him through. Rafael needs to be the senior player today.

    Lets smash 'em 6-2.

van Persie has better/more refined technique, I'll give him that. He'll score flashier goals and pluck the ball out of the air more beautifully as a result. But he slows things down, doesn't move, doesn't play well with a partner, doesn't defend from the front as well. And with Rooney in no.9 he'll score a similar number.

Falcao's a better finisher. So I'd possibly agree with this. He's so good at what he does, even if it's not as much as Rooney does. Rooney works well with players who release quickly and move about, so I'd just play both if we have to play two strikers.

Mata's quite similar to Rooney, in my opinion. But obviously he has better touch/control. Barely anything in that one. Mata has weaknesses, as does Rooney.

    Fixed

Jagailka has done us a favour, another good chance to go over Pool.

Who do you expect him to replace? Rooney was fine in the no.10 role against Leicester, Van Persie bagged a goal and Falcao needs match time.
So RVP scored a goal and he can start but Mata has scored 8 in 10 games and he doest deserve to? Replace RVP with Mata is what I would have done.

    Its a good line up.
Too bad Mata is on the bench, hopefully he gets 30min or so in the 2nd half.
Have not seen much of Macnair but good luck to the lad, hope he does well.

All of our 6 new signings starts today, pretty cool.

I'm talking about Mourinho being fine selling Mata but declaring multiple times he wanted Rooney
That's because of Rooney's workrate and that he fits much better into the Chelsea team. He is not a better player than Mata in our way of playing. At least not at the moment.

True. I agree. Like I said in the Van Persie thread, it looks like Rooney's not the only one with special privileges.

Rooney has never had a great partnership with any fellow striker and Van Persie at his best was clearly the better player. Whether he can get back to that level is the question.

    Christ. The hysteria in here.

LVG obviously knows what his best first xi is, and is playing them week in week out to get some consistency.

Armchair fans always know better though. This is reminiscent of the Fergis days and persistent questioning of team selection.

Rooney has been fine, especially in the last game. To say he's been the same as RVP is frankly laughable.

    Rooney deserves to be playing.

In my opinion he's been shocking. Football is all about opinions. It's not having ago at him for no reason he just hasn't been very bloody good.

Anyone got a good stream? Mine's jumping around more than a flea circus.

Seriously, if we dont win, with Liverpool drawing, I give up...
We should win regardless of the Liverpool derby result. We need a win and we have enough tools to do so despite the problems in the back.
