Feck knows why McNair seems to be ahead of Thorpe, shame Mata's sitting out aswell, should be RvP on the bench. Either way we should be winning this but no doubt we'll at least make it hard for ourselves.

People wanting Rooney to be dropped are mental, we need his defensive qualities more than ever at the moment.

I'm disappointed Mata isn't in instead of Van Persie, but I'm not surprised.

How many more chances for RvP ? Mata is the man in form, and he's on the bench. He might be gone, no smoke without fire.

Van Persie is a better player than Mata when in form, therefore Van Gaal will be more patient. Not really that surprising.

No reason to change the attack after last week, they all looked pretty good together for most of the game. Sucks for mata but that's the situation he finds himself in, if he wants to play while doing nothing defensively, he better start getting di maria levels in attack.

You know we can only field 11 players right? Which one of Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney and RvP would you drop for Januzaj?

As I said, we should have sent him on loan if we didn't plan to use him.

I have no idea why so many people seem to think that Mata instead of Van Persie is the solution to our problems. I actually think our attacking play and movement was very good against Leicester so I have no problems with us keeping the same for this match.

We are not balanced this way playin roon falcao and rvp. Get to 4-4-2 ffs and drop Van persie. Januzaj (or whatever) Herrera Blind Di Maria Rooney Falcao. How feckin hard can it be??? And just to add you stupid, ignorant swedish commentators (not including Glenn Strömberg) DI MARIA is our best player not the 3 you talked about

Glad Luke Shaw is at left back, We are going to concede today though surely, Rojo and Mcnair at the back, just too inexperienced

    You can't play them all!

RvP has not been good lately, but let's not forget what he's capable of.

Really don't like what LvG is doing with Mata. Since he's been here he's been extremely productive. Last season, through pre-season and the start of this season as well. Usually in these situations I would say it's up to him to step up and win his place back but I can't even say that because he's been performing well compared to the rest of the team. What has Van Persie done since January?
I just hope this isn't a sign of a more permanent issue in LvG's mind but with every game it looks like it is. Wouldn't want Mata to leave at all.

Those three strikers should never be on the same pitch together.

Rooney will help them out more than Mata would have, though. I think it's the right call.

Yep, Rooney is more willing and more capable of dropping deep and put in a defensive shift.

LvG logic, we have too many number tens, lets play none and use all the strikers instead.

He scored in the last game, so why drop him?

Well Mata scored the week before and was generally better too. Actually Mata has 8 in his last 10 games.

Well Mata not performing last week either didn't help his case.

As a Sub for Di Maria in a odd position for him when the whole team was collapsing yeah.

I like RVP but his perormances have been mediocre for a while now.

    Some people always complain.

Why change a forward line which worked last week?Mata and Januzaj will get their chances, its a long season, and they have to take their chances.Mata is a bit too lightweight to be playing againt westham. Also why do people make a fuss about RVP and LVG's relationship?LVG didnt think twice before subbing off RVP in the world cup. This man has a huge set of balls. He doesnt do favouritism.

Got 11/11 players right today :)

Would rather Mata (or even Januzaj) than van Persie, but oh well...

Am I the only one who is happy to see McNair instead of Thope. Thorpe is 21 and has barely played any professional football in his career, he blatantly isn't good enough.

Agreed on both, maybe LVG thinks Rooney > Mata in that position and RVP>Rooney?

West Ham and their team full of 6ft 3 cloggers should have a field day against our inexperienced kid at centre back today. They'll have been preparing the aerial bombardment all week.

I guess people will always find a reason to complain. Now is Mata, tomorrow Adnan, then someone 3rd.

Attack wasnt the problem last week, quite the opposite, so why not start the same attacking trio.

And how long till 'Will Mata leave' thread? Maybe its already out there.

Should've sent Adnan on loan if we didn't plan on playing him.

Disappointed Mata isn't starting either - he is the future of our attack, if we let him leave for the likes of Falcao and RVP who only have a couple of years before they start declining, it will not be good for the long term.

He was never going to start for us this year when we bought the likes of Di Maria and Falcao. Imagine he will come on at some point.

McNair starts, so what's wrong with Thorpe? Seems to be our most talented CB and now Blackett and McNair are ahead of him? Is he a little bit overrated? He looked decent the few times I saw him.
And again Rooney behind van Persie and Falcao, that's disappointing. After we switched to 2 strikers, I really thought this we have to play Rooney and van Persie together on the pitch instead of a real number 10 is over. But now with Falcao, it looks like we have to play all 3 of them. I really hope Mata won't be another Kagawa.
