I'm sorry, but that stuff about Mata not defending must be total BS. I looked at Sneijder in the World Cup and he is miles behind Mata in terms of what he provides on the pitch, including defending. Rooney either plays striker or gets dropped, simple as that.

I disagree.

He's been at the club for 10(?) years. We have a new midfield, and the defenders are either young/ not leadership material/ new. You need someone whose been at the club for years and knows our, dare I say it, identity to keep our style.
