Ultimately it's a 2 game sample, so it doesn't really matter much. But they're 3rd in xG and 1st in xG. In what world is that average?

We can beat them, like we can beat anyone. But the facts are they're creating a lot of chances and not conceding many so far.

I’ve only seen the second halves of both their matches and in both they looked strong but apparently were conversely very poor in the first half both times. Hopefully we can get a fast start and take our chances to put them under pressure.

I'm sure the 3 of them will play the full 90 but if there are any midfield injuries vs Liverpool then I guess we'll have to throw Collyer into the deep end. Or maybe Martinez as an emergency DM.

Mainoo has looked fairly gassed towards the end of both matches so far. Ideally we would sub him with 20 minutes left if at all possible. We can’t overuse him.

Mainoo has never not looked tired towards the end of a match he started to be fair.

I love the lad at least equally to how much I assume I'll love my first son but it's something he needs to work on.

I'll just be open minded about the game, not sure what is going to happen but I'm hoping we win.

I would bite your hand off for a draw tomorrow, the mood is going to be so bad for the next 2 weeks if we lose

It's odd because it's "just" conditioning. That's the easiest thing to work on, that's just repeated effort. Wonder where he'd be in that regard without the Euro

Who knows, starting in midfield based on how we play is a big step up in intensity considering how we play compared you youth matches.

Probably wasn't expected that he would play so many matches.

Just back from my local an hour or two.

If United win I'm owed 6 drinks. If they lose I owe 6 drinks. 6 different lads. 4 Liverpool, 1 Arsenal and one poor fecker Chelsea fan.

Anyone else guilty of this?

The big one. Very interested to see what happens. A manager who is in his third game in charge and was given no support versus a manager who is in his third year in charge and was given unparalleled support. Ten Hag has the home advantage, and he is familiar with Slot. Winning here is not just expected, it’s mandatory.

    Liverpool 2:0.

    Liverpool 2:0.
Liverpool are a lot more settled and don't need much tweaking in terms of squad or tactics. Seeing the game as 3 games vs 3 seasons is not fair.

I’ve come back from the future and I won’t spoil it too much but United win and you need to see it

The Father Ted episode when Ted ruins the raffle car. The morning scene when Dougal slaps him.

We once had a player called Ted McDougall.

Some very pessimistic posts here, which is understandable. For no obvious reason, I am actually looking forward to a United win and think we will do it.

Mount will be a loss here as our game will be based around pressing high. It will be interesting to see how Ten Hag shuffles the pack in the forwards but I guess without Hojlund we are limited. I wonder if he will use Antony due to his work rate and ability to help out defensively.

The rest of the team will likely be the same however we could see De Ligt start for the first time based on Maguire having had a niggle. Otherwise it will be identical to what we’ve been doing.

With no Ugarte or Mctominay it’s highly likely that Eriksen and/or Collyer see some minutes. Don’t expect to see Casemiro and Mainoo to last a full 90, especially in a game of this intensity.

Ten Hag needs to be smart with his substitutes here as we usually start well and fade whilst Liverpool start slow and grow in to the game. That said they are going to be a bit different this season. Midfield a key battle and our back four need to have a blinder if we are to take anything from the game.

Will always love the 4-3 cup win last season.

    Classic ten Hag.

Even the glorious winner was accompanied by a lack of discipline. Amad getting sent off trying to score an iconic celebration.

Reckon we will lose today, however. We should then kick on after the international break. A bit like 22-23.

Some very negative people on here. I’m actually quite confident and think we’ll get a win. We usually do well against them at home. It’s playing them away that I hate. We’ve played some decent football in the first 2 games. Still a lot to improve on. I’d start De Ligt and Zirkzee for this one.

It’s what people will judge though. Slots managed to tweak a few things for them already in 3 games. They look more solid defensively than they did under Klopp.

When we are severe underdogs we normally do well. The opposite holds true as well.

Maybe I'm making this shit up but it truly feels that way.

    I fancy us.

    2-1 United

    Mainoo, Garnacho - Salah

Liverpool are there for the taking, I feel something special is brewing to kick start the season.

    4-1 United.

It’s at home so I think we have a decent chance, but just feel like we don’t have a cohesive team with our new signings still integrating and not sure what our best line up is currently.

    Hoping for 2-1 Utd.

Ten Hag knowing Slot & his approach will be a factor today. Will be a tight one with us edging it. 2-1.
Maybe but I don't think he's changed too much of Klopp's way of playing

Odds at my bookmaker are really embarrassing, don't think I ever saw them bad like this against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
3.7 to 1 for United win, Pool are 1.88 to 1 to win

Hope we can cause an upset but it is a blind hope. Can't fathom how we got to a position where we are such underdogs at home.

This has the appearance of a draw or 2- 1 either way. We won’t be overrun.

Liverpool have a very strong frontline.

The midfield and defence is not what it once was. We can overrun and bully them. They are not what all those scouse loving pundits say they are.

We just need to be sensible and not get caught on the break. If we can defend well then we can definitely win this.
Very true. Could lead to a 2 - 3 goals apiece type result. In the later times ETH had Klopp approach figured; hopefully this can continue with Slot
