Slot is really lucky bastard so far. Easy schedule, gifted goals. Playing nothing special and it could be 3 wins in a row.

To be fair, Liverpool have been impressive today. Solid pressing, superb final balls and clinical finishing. There’s not much more you can expect from them unless you’re existing prime Real or Barcelona, which would not be realistic.

Are you watching the match? We’re lucky to not be 3-0 down and we’ve been ran ragged.
By a better side. Answer the question, realistically with the options we have what can we actually do here. For large spells we were okay but for some shocking individual passes. Rashford starting is the only real negative as he’s clearly finished.

it's a mid-table against one who are guaranteed top four and might push City and Arsenal for a while... I don't see any difference from last season but I'm sure those who normally abuse for saying things like won't agree

Played alright until we got to the final 3rd, but then repeatedly fell apart. Still early but I haven't liked what I've seen from Zirkzee in any game, regardless of his goal. De Ligt and Mazraoui have been good. Mainoo done quite well. Don't think I need to say anything on Casemiro. Obviously by far his worst game of the season and responsible for both goals. Not expecting Ugarte to come straight in for him in next game (not fit) which will probably mount pressure on ETH. Can't say I'm optimistic of a comeback in this. I really don't see where our goals are coming from this season.
    Spot on that.

Mazraoui is best going forward. Back post defending a big issue, but has been for a while at United

If he has to anticipate Casemiro giving the ball away there then he would never be able to go forward again....

Although with this Casemiro version, he might actually have to start anticipating that Manchester United loses the ball when the ball goes anywhere near Casemiro.

Zirkee looks to be struggling adapting to the pace of the EPL, especially against arguably our biggest rival. Casemiro full of mistakes and looks to be carrying some extra timber. In truth ETH’s 3rd season in charge, and we shouldn’t be on the end of another mauling at home to Liverpool, it’s not unacceptable.

They're just so sloppy out there. Some more the others but we give away the ball so easily, both in dangerous areas but also when we're trying to attack as well. We're playing an obviously and annoyingly good team, and you're going to get punished with those errors. When you combine that with absolutely nothing going forward, it's a terrible combination.

Because we shed more players than we brought in. Brought in five, lost FOURTEEN including Amrabat.
    So many games..so few players.

Yes we sold 8/10 rated players at 20-25M and bought 8/10 rated players at 40-50M
lots of money spent and our squad is still 8/10 rated

Individual mistakes again. All of us have bemoaned Casemiro as not good enough and the manager knows it, so what should we expect when he has to rely on him?
It’s a terrible game plan that relies on not creating enough and giving the possession, it only works if you never make stupid individual mistakes. Eth sets himself up for a failure because he’s not good enough for this level, you can call it unlucky if you want

He’s won more on his own than every other player on the pitch combined but my god does Casemiro look washed. He has to come off at half time.

Unless I've been watching a different game than others, how is this on the manager?

We played better than I have seen us over recent times. And we're holding our own, even outplaying at times. Then Casemiro happened
100% watching a different game. Or perhaps this is your first time watching.

What part of this game have we done better?

What game are some of you watching. Have our standards really dropped that far?
Yes, our standards have absolutely dropped, if you expect us to be world class you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I didn't say good anyway, just not too bad.

The gap between midfield and defence has been there since last preseason. It doesn’t seem to change. The midfield isn’t hanging back and the defence isn’t pushing up. Same old story.

I'm glad we're having that conversation about Martinez not looking great. He gets an easy ride and a free pass too often. He's looked genuinely dogshite so far this season.

This is what happens when you don't do your transfer business in a timely manner.

Ugarte should've been signed quickly enough that he had time with the squad and was able to start today. If he's on the pitch today maybe this doesn't play out like it has.

To be fair for the goal when Casemiro got the ball he bombed forward expected it to be a Utd attack , that is what you want him to do. He gets caught out of position because we gave away the ball so cheaply and quickly.
Yeah I’ve no issue with that, Case should have released it early instead of playing like a 92yo.

Fukking hell. I’m not blaming Onana as you just can’t expect a normal keeper to save either shot, but to ignore how incredible Dave was is disgraceful.
I’m not ignoring how great a shot stopper De Gea used to be but you could put two keepers in net for this’s goals and they don’t stop them. Both clinical finishes. Just such a weird thing to level at the keeper, but anything for that confirmation bias eyy?

If you know Case is done and we were trying to offload him, we should be playing more compact if you have to play him, it's the same high risk launch it hot potato football with no short option or a direction to play that way, we play like we only have 10 mins to win the match.

Zirkzee has looked like that time we chucked Hannibal up front in preseason. I don't think it's just the hair, either.

We're still paying for poor decisions made by the previous regime BUT that doesn't excuse EtH - he's the one picking Casemiro when he's clearly a million miles off the pace

Never gonna happen. He's not going to throw a young, inexperienced player into midfield in a game like this at halftime.

We're saying what he SHOULD do, not what we think he will do. I don't expect him to do anything.

Unless I've been watching a different game than others, how is this on the manager?

We played better than I have seen us over recent times. And we're holding our own, even outplaying at times. Then Casemiro happened
We've been shite from top to bottom, which basically everyone other than you can see.

Anyone who watched the preseason game wouldn't be suprised, it's gone exactly the same.

Ugarte will not change much. Our main problem is complete lack of attacking play and he will not change that. We will be just slightly better in defensive phase.
Today it would have made a huge difference if we could have started Ugarte instead of Casemiro. Both goals are Casemiro’s fault.

Whether his presence makes a difference in the long run is another debate.
