You can’t be serious. Liverpool literally have 0 “Slot players” yet everyone here has said ETH needed a full squad and bench to implement his “style”.

We have exactly 1 player who was signed very late in the window. Everyone else has been here for weeks. This constant need to excuse everything in year 3 is fecking exhausting.

I didn’t say we WOULD get handled (we won twice last year), just saying if we did that would be fecking damning on ETH considering the guy across from him has made due implementing a new style relatively quickly with no signings.
Going off memory alone here but I think it was 2 draws in the league and 1 win in extra time in the FA Cup.

If Liverpool's bald Dutch manager schools ETH by giving a possession masterclass, it would be a quite ironic.

I don't think ten Hag is too fussed about possession. He's said countless times that he wants us to be a transition side.

I predict that Liverpool will have the majority of the ball, whilst we'll try and hit them on the counter. Actually, I reckon it will pan out similar to the game against City in the FA Cup and Community Shield game.

I predict it will be the same formation, comprised of the same people, as the first two games. If Mount is injured then I guess Zirk could come in for him.

I'm hoping that Ugarte is able to come straight in. But based off the slower-than-Christmas pace this signing is taking, I am not confident that he will even be registered in time, and even if he is then I am not confident in ETH throwing him out there (even though he did it with Mazraoui, to positive effect).

And, as much as it hurts me to say, I think based on the first two games so far it should be Ugarte and Casemiro in the middle. Casemiro has been much better than last season so far, at least until the 55th minute or so, at which point Kobbie can come in.

I would also go with Amad and Garnacho on the wings, but I am confident ETH will keep rolling the Rashford dice.

What I think we will see:

    -------------------------------------Onana------------------------------------
    Mazraoui-----------Harry----------Martinez------------Dalot
    --------------------------Casemiro-----Mainoo-------------------------
    Amad----------------------------Bruno------------------Rashford
    --------------------------------------Zirk-----------------------------------

What I would like to see:

    --------------------------------Contest Winner--------------------------
    Mazraoui-----------De Ligt----------Martinez------------Dalot
    --------------------------Casemiro-----Ugarte-------------------------
    Amad----------------------------Bruno--------------------Garnacho
    --------------------------------------Zirk-------------------------------------

Our best 11, with everyone fit:

    --------------------------------Contest Winner--------------------------
    Mazraoui-----------De Ligt----------Martinez------------Shaw
    --------------------------Casemiro-----Ugarte-------------------------
    Amad----------------------------Bruno--------------------Garnacho
    ------------------------------------Rasmus--------------------------------

And, except for one glaring problem position, I think that 11 is quality and could cause most teams trouble.

Hang on, Liverpool have had zero transfers coming in this summer, zilch, nothing.
They have a new manager that "hasn't been backed", like we used to scream, hasn't got a single player that's of his choice, not one. On the other hand, we have spent 200m on players for ETH this summer so far, just over 600m on players for him over the last three years. But we aren't feeling confident?? Why is that, I wonder.
What’s happening at Pool isn’t good. We seem to be pulling our shit together and Pool is having issues. Enjoy it whole it lasts.

I hope Ten Hag doesn't start Maguire and Rashford. I agree with them starting in the last game as it was a winning team. We need to see De Ligt and Garnacho start.

I have admired Maguire's attitude and think he's been relatively decent since captaincy was taken from him. I just want to see what De Ligt can do with Martinez. Rashford, breaks my heart so he does. Really hope he finds form this season but from the last game's performance he doesn't warrant a start in my opinion.

We have done well against Liverpool last season. Hoping more of the same and a win can kick start a good team spirit!

I think I'm okay with Rashford starts as long as Garnacho is on the RW, Amad seems like he'd be better if we had more possession and I want a team that can quickly counter and create. He had too many instances in the last game where he was releasing the ball too late or too slow on something which slowed our attack. In a game like this where we might not have the ball as much I want a faster transition team. Maguire needs to sit and come off the bench for this game, of he starts he's gonna back up way too much I can already feel it.

Fair enough, not going to argue against that. That's true, I know he had a family member that died so maybe that didn't help him or he just needs more experience. The only thing is with Amad, although he wasn't great he still made a moment. Maybe he's capable of that even if playing bad, time will tell.

Maguire - yes I'm the same, you do get that feeling. I think he has to start De Ligt and Martinez - two players he's signed and both are fit - you'd think it would be Ten Hag's mission for that to be the centre half's paring.

Maybe "happy" isn't exactly the right word, but when you are a pessimistic bastard like myself fully expecting us to get tonked 3 nil, at the absolute worst possible time to get tonked at home by a rival, ie right before a two week international break, then a Draw can be seen as slightly positive.

"At least we didn't lose! 3 points out of a possible 9 is horrendous!" That sort of thing.
Fair enough. 3 is less than 4 after all.

If it helps, the last few times we've been expecting to be tonked by the big clubs, we've managed to pull off a win or at least a draw. Hope I haven't just jinxed it!

    De Ligt in for Maguire.
    Garnacho in for Rashford.
Zirkzee in for Mount(because he is injured).

Our pressing game has looked a lot worse when Mount is off the field. Bruno in the 10 role and Zirkzee up front? Or maybe Rashford in the centre.

I quite like the idea of starting with a Garnacho/Rashford/Amad front 3. Liverpool really struggled with that in the cup match last season.

No effective high pressing up the pitch without Mount. Funny that he is injured for the game for which we need him for most.

It's obvious what we should play with Mount injured, who cares if Ugarte is straight off the plane.

Maz - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Casemiro - Ugarte - Mainoo
    Garnacho - Zirkzee - Bruno

Pack the midfield and physically bully them. Try for some actual decent crosses for Zirkzee. Garnacho/Bruno on the counter.

Liverpool are going to dominate possession regardless of Mount playing or not. Zirkzee coming in makes us more of a goal threat, so it is good for us.

I don't think he even had a pre-season as Enrique banished him. No way he starts tomorrow.

Even if he hadn't kicked a ball for 6 months I'd still rate him way better for this fixture than anyone else we could put out. Unless we play Maguire in a back 3.

The alternative fit players are limited to Rashford, Eriksen, Evans, Antony and Amad.

We don't want him there undercooked and then risk a long-term injury. If we are really going to pussy it up and go with a 4-man midfield then I'd play Collyer alongside Casemiro with Mainoo & Bruno as the two attacking mids in front of them.

I imagine this game will go like this:

We start Rashford and Maguire, 3-0 down at half time. Changes made in the 65th minute after conceding another.

Garnacho and De Ligt come on, but so does Antony and the match ends 5-1.

After the match EtH says we were very unlucky and played well, Ste Howson and half the Caf agree with this and that he just needs more time and a few more ex Ajax lads in key positions.

I wouldnt mind that to be fair.

Say all this knowing Maguire and Rashford will start come what may.

    Mount injured so I'd go

    Onana

    Dalot
    Martinez
    Maguire
    Mazzy

    Casemiro
    Mainoo
    Fernandes

    Rashford
    Zirkzee
    Amad

Maybe de Ligt could play but it's a gamble in a match where Liverpool always turn up. Hopefully give Ugarte 20 minutes and Garnacho can come on as an impact sub.

Yeah, I think that will be the team, although I think he's thrown de Ligt on in the last two games to get him up to speed quickly to replace Maguire. I hope de Ligt starts over Maguire, but doubt it. Amad should benefit having Zirkzee there, and Rashford really needs to put in a good performance.

Some seem to forget that Liverpool have 5 world class players (Alisson, TAA, Robertson, Van Dijk, Salah), and 4 top class ones (Konate, MacAllister, Diaz, Nunez/Jota). Though its not Slot's team, it is far better than the mediocracy that we have in midfield/attack. Our 3 shouts for world class ( Shaw, Martinez, Bruno) are inconsistent/not in form.

Amazing that peopl3 are suddenly depicting Mount as some kind of key player for a bit of closing down!

Will be interesting to see if we actually start Zirkzee or whether we go with the 3 wingers with one notionally up front.

Good odds if you fancy a flutter on Utd 3-1. Scousers 10-11 favourites with the draw at 16-5.
I think I’ll have a crafty tenner on Utd, 3-1 in a two horse race with us at home is rather attractive.

Silent domination, his impact will even grow greater in the coming weeks. The longer he's absent, the better he becomes.

Because the alternative in this game is a 4/10 Rashford.

Need to get Ugarte registered by noon tomorrow to get him involved. No chance he starts but a good option off the bench once Casemiro’s legs fall off.

What will we do with Mainoo's legs?
