Didn’t Pep make a very similar statement at the beginning of the season?
It's Pep, he downplays everything about his team. He takes Haaland aside and tells him what he did wrong after scoring a hat trick.

It is actually reasonable to panic about where our goals are going to come from this season. Just 2 goals from 2 games, some of our players who can score are dreadful finishers (Bruno) or completely past their best (Rashford). Our defense has to be really good to win, but I don’t see that happening.

Should be a walk in the park, really.

Liverpool just got a new manager and are only 2 games in and completely untested in these kinds of matches.

ETH has had 2 seasons to shape the squad with his liking and would've had time to implement the way he wants the team to play. Arteta finished 8th his first 2 seasons before his team started to play some really nice football and would have more trophies if it wasn't for City.

    ...right?

    Onana
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Ugarte
    Mainoo - Bruno
    Garnacho - Zirkzee - Rashford

You joke, but I think Slot not having experience of this derby will be a factor.

I expect us to win considering we'll be playing on the counter at home.

I doubt Ten Hag dares to bench Rashford and play Ugarte so quickly, but this should be the lineup based on the currently available players:

    .......................... Onana .....................
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    ......................... Ugarte ......................
    ................. Mainoo - Bruno ................
    ..... Garnacho - Zirkzee - Amad .........

Dont know why people are suddenly posting 4-3-3 lineups when we have played a double pivot all season. More so with Ugarte being more suited to a double pivot himself.

It's debatable whether we have improved defensively; players have change but you defend collectively as a team, so not sure. But we simply cannot retain possession in the final third to build any pressure so will be relying on breakaways which I think Slot's team is much more adept at dealing with!

Arne's about to slot straight into us alright. Its infuriating that Pool look to have got a Klopp replacement (not like for like) before we've got a Fergie replacement.

Brighton result was grim, but let's not jump the gun in relation to Liverpool. They've played absolutely nobody and still unfortunately have Salah. United will be their first test this season.

Of course it is, when your manager still continues to start Harry Maguire.

    Onana
Mazrouri - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Casemeiro - Mainoo
    Amad - Bruno - Rashford
    Zirkzee

ETH has a habit of not starting new players for a good few games unless he has no choice. Be great to see De Ligt and Ugarte get a start.

When will people learn that we seldom, if ever, throw new signings in from the start when they haven't played in months? It's never been a thing.

Casemiro, Mainoo, and Fernandes will be our midfield. Mount may play dependent on striker fitness/tactical approach.

Liverpool going to break the 0-5 record during the 21-22 season. Probably will rival the 7-0 score line.

Since 19-20, United are never up for the games against Liverpool other than last season.

ETH is going to be under some real pressure if he loses at all. A bad score line will pile on the pressure even more.

Do not see a draw or a win for United.

Two losses in 3 games. Just like the previous 2 seasons.

We are terrible starters always playing catch up.

Please please please work as a jinx

I think we will continue with the 4-2-4 we used at the tail end of last season and the start of this one. While it is not perfect, our pressing has definitely benefited from the change in shape. The biggest weakness out of possession is Rashford and he isn't doing enough in possession to justify his place. He should be dropped for this match, otherwise Liverpool will have an easy out on Rashford's side to escape our pressure and they have the quality to exploit it and dominate the game. I think De Ligt might get the nod ahead of Maguire. Assuming Mount is fit (we really need to be), I think we'll go with:

    Onana

    Mazraoui De Ligt Martinez Dalot

    Mainoo Casemiro

    Amad Fernandes Mount Garnacho

Assuming Mount is injured or at the very least not 100% so won't start. McTominay almost certainly sold before this match - probably Hannibal & Sancho too. No Shaw, Malacia, or Hojlund and probably not Lindelof is my guess for the other missing players.

    Onana
    Mazraoui De Ligt Martinez Dalot
    Mainoo Casemiro
    Garnacho Bruno Rashford
    Zirkzee

I'd probably say this, although I wouldn't be surprised if Maguire & Amad retain their places. I think EtH was trying to use as many of the players that had more of a pre-season involvement as possible, but given that De Ligt, Garnacho, and Zirkzee have had a few sub appearances and will have had a lot more training sessions they could be ready to start by now as they could all be subbed off after 60-70. I can see EtH going with a consistent selection as well though, given that it's Liverpool and might not be the best time to throw out a line-up that realistically has six players that didn't have an ideal pre-season due to other factors.

I get your point. To be fair ETH has a decent W/D/L ratio against Liverpool so far that's clouded by the 7-0, which was ironically the only time under ETH that I expected us to perform decently before the match.

If we do get thoroughly outplayed and lose convincingly though... yikes, not good for the "you need to give managers time to succeed!!!" crowd.

Liverpool hasn't exactly impressed tbh, we should be able to win at home

I think we will win this game. Expecting de Ligt and Zirkzee to both come into the starting XI. Rashford will start as well IMO, because it's a game vs a top 6 team, and one of Amad/Garnacho will miss out. Other than that, unchanged XI IMO.

    Onana
    Dalot Maguire Casemiro Martinez
    Mainoo Bruno
    Mount
    Antony Rashford Sterling

Let’s go with this, no more Dalot at LB. De Ligt still not ready I think. Sterling straight in there and Antony ahead of Amad. Also Rashford at striker until Zirkzee is fully fit.

    Just kidding
