Think Williams still commits himself too high up the pitch at points, but it's so good to have a proper overlapping FB on that left.

I'd make no changes now, but if we don't step it up within 10 mins, I'd be getting greenwood on for Mata.

Anyway great goal by Grealish. Wasn't even that mad at conceding it, but what did annoy me is that Villa continued to dominate the game from there. It wasn't just a case of world class strike against the run of play.

Iirc the initial shot has to be on target for the goal to be given.

As he hit the post the shot will be considered off-target so that's unlikely I think.

No we have no control over this game is because of poor coaching plain and simple.

Fred either passing out wide or hitting long same as Andreas. When they're passing to either Williams or AWB more often than not they don't have anything on, so they either take on their man either by themselves or with James, Rashford, Martial. Problem is 9/10 it's not going to work because that's how football tends to work, you need to be very cohesive to break teams down at will. Were not. We're not even remotely cohesive, in fact we looked completely devoid of any pattern. The only consistent part of our play is being able to break on the counter. Not single player in this team has a clear idea of their role in the team. One man who unlocked defences all his career is Mata, yet he has absolutely no role in this team. Everything should be going through him. He's our most intelligent attacker by a mile yet we resort to getting it out wide despite having very little wide attacking threat in AWB and Williams. Just watch the game objectively and see how fecking disgraseful our play is. I've seen League 2 teams look like peak Barcelona, so I'm 100% sure this down to coaching.

So far this isn't on Ole. Perreira isn't good enough but, we have no options, don't think Garner is ready. Rashford is having another nightmare. James in and out but, Martial and Rashford need to get in the box, especially the former.

If we don't have McTomminay back on Wednesday, we are screwed.

It's not just tackling. A CM has to be able to receive the ball, needs a good consistent touch and good passing. That's really where Garner is so much better than Pereira. Proper CM.

Missing players is a valid argument for underperformance only if we're playing a side that is superior or our equal when we're at full strength. Alas, we're playing Aston Villa, a recently promoted side that (if we're being honest) ought not make us struggle at home even if we're missing a couple of midfield players.

Think part of that is Periera playing that CM role. I like him further up and he can put in a lovely cross, but him trying to defend is crazy. He should be in Mata's role and Garner or dare I saw Williams should play next to Fred. Shaw should be in LB

We're being outplayed by Villa at Old Trafford, but hopefully Ole will actually change something here and take pereira off. Preferably Mata off for Lingard as well.

Periera as RW or AM isn't as terrible as you make seem. He can play a thread or a wonderful cross but to think he can play anything deep is insane. I do agree Garner is at least in his known position there and should have started. Or as I've said above Williams could have slotted next to Fred, or dare I say Tuanzebe.

Our defence is completely isolated which is worrying when we have someone inexperienced like Williams and Lindelof without much pace. Matic would have made more of a screen for them this match despite the hate he gets. Without McT and Pogba it’s very tough to set about them.
