It happens a lot with pacey, unheralded young players. They initially take defences by surprise but after a few games, defenders study them and figure out how to nullify them. I was always expecting James to settle into a hit-and-miss type standard after the first few games - as cool a bloke/player he is, he's just a pace merchant and every other game you will find a defence that can nullify a pace merchant unless he has more to his game.

I'm more concerned about Maguire, to be honest. I was expecting MUCH better.

We have a set of midfielders that could and should follow simple tactics. You don't need world class players in midfield to look cohesive. See Wijnaldum and Henderson. Both were being laughed at before Klopp took over. You need a coach who will teach them how to play. If you leave a player to his own devices in midfield, he'll look like a fool, unless you're a Pirlo, Scholes, Xavi who have a natural gift at doing the right thing at the right time. We have two average midfielders who'd do decent job if coached properly -- that is what I'm saying.

To be honest we were outclassed in the first half, the 1-1 doesn't reflect the game.

It's been ages since I've watched a game were our midfield dominated, or without thinking one of the opposition midfielders would vastly improve us. Happens even when we're playing relegation fodder.

Anyway, I think the second half can only get better.
