Our 11 out there are being out passed and out tackled by Aston Villa. I doubt we would have wanted to swap any of the Villa starters, bar Grealish, before the start of the game.

I could feel how the commentator felt. He just changed the subject because he, like everyone else, got more stupid listening to that.
Oh believe me, I don't rate Fred all that much and have been a big critic of his, but even if you suggest he's semi ok as a squad player. We basically have 3 midfielders at the club which is crazy for the amount of games we play, Pereira is clearly just not cut for this level, it was obvious last season in my opinion and now he's getting a sustained period of games due to injuries it's even more so.
But our complete lack of options right now means he's a default choice unless you give a 17/18 year old a go. Which simply isn't sensible right now.
This Christmas period is going to be rough for us unless Pogba and Scott return quickly.

Our defence is completely isolated which is worrying when we have someone inexperienced like Williams and Lindelof without much pace. Matic would have made more of a screen for them this match despite the hate he gets. Without McT and Pogba it’s very tough to set about them.This is after the whole team being rested on Thursday. He's from the wrong side of Manchester, and he played for a team who had a bitter rivalry with us. It's hardly unsurprising.
Arrangement of players on a field isn't the issue. It's not about how the chess pieces are situated. It's about the moves they make collectively. You can have a fluid 4-4-2 and a static 4-3-3; conversely, you can have a static 4-4-2 and a dynamic 5-4-1. In the end, it's all coaching, automation and fluidity.

He's playing out of position because three of our first choice midfielders are injured. You could argue our midfield is not good enough, most would tend to agree, but no one would have imagined having the amount of injuries we've had in centre midfield.
The problem is at the 10 with Mata. Unless Garner is that much better tackler than Pereira

All of this is on the manager/coaches cos that work is done in training. Its painfully obvious to all but a blinkered few that these performances are symptomatic of work or lack of work in training.
