Lingard did play in the #6. When Ole put Greenwood on for Periera right after we scored our first goal, Lingard dropped into the 6 beside Fred and we were playing a 4-4-2 with Greenwood on the right, James on the left, and Rashford and Martial playing in a strike partnership. To no surprise we then scored 2 more goals quickly as a 4-4-2 is the formation that we should play more often...This is one of those matches where I thought we started well in the first 10 mins or whatever then, get undone by a worldly. Grealish never does that in any other match.Whilst this is a for excuse, it is very difficult to build momentum in a team when your best midfielders are out. The lack of any quality in midfield is showing - they're moving from defence to attack every single time without any opposition, despite all the fouls we're committing. Fred and Pereira are both positionally bad, and Mata is useless in terms of pressing or applying any physical pressure or cutting out passes. We're essentially:

As bad as you've been you'll have a decent spell at some stage in the second half.
We need to defend far better than we did for the goal when that spell starts, started with Mings again messing around on the edge of our box, needless corner to give away.- Status
