They have lost 2 league games in 49 but we are one of those to beat them
We had Pogba last time, I think he guarantees some focus from City. I don't know how we will be able to bring enough focus to City to allow us to focus ourselves on our play.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think we'll get played of the park and with Pogba out we will likely see a midfield consisting of Matic and Fellaini. I just hope we won't get embarrassed.

Has Pogba picked the injury after Jose's press conference? Because Jose said no one was injured after Juvi game!

If Pogba doesn't play the replacement must be Fred.
Cannot play Matic and Fellaini together in midfield against the two silvas we'll get embarrassed otherwise.

I think (or rather hope) Sanchez is due a run in the first team at Lukaku's expense. He looked decent against Juve without

Think there was a bit on reddit saying Sanchez is supposedly injured (knock vs. Juventus) and he's questionable for City game.

Absolutely must win clash. Would throw everything at these guys, kitchen sink, long balls, hard tackles and unleash the Martial

    De Gea
Young (pains me to say it) Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera
    Pogba Fred
    Rashford Sanchez Martial
If Sanchez isnt fit, throw Greenwood in

Would people seriously like to see Greenwood and Pereira play against this City side?

If Pogba is out could see us having Fellaini and Lukaku start and going hard with longballs. Can't however see us engineering any 2nd half comebacks without him

We've sadly put ourselves in a position where just beating small teams won't get us top 4. Pogba needs to be on the pitch for this one

Greenwood is not ready but Pereira is, he held his own against Barca and Madrid when he was on loan in Spain.

Didn't he play on the wing most of the time when he was at Valencia? He has also played less than 45 minutes since August, unless you count in the few minutes for Brazil.

Yes - Pereira is a good technical player he's the 2nd best passer in this team. Fred and Fellani won't give you the same creativity he can.

Based on what? You can't just make sweeping conclusions from a player who has barely made significant appearances for the first team.

Mourinho confirmed in his press conference that there were no injuries post Juventus game. Not to mention Sanchez was seen in the training pics.

Whenever he's played he's shown good technical level and quality to pass both short and long. We could switch the play from side to side very effectively with periera in the team but there's no chance of that happening anyway. He hardly makes the benches with mctominay the preferred option.

Perreira has played 2 full seasons in Spain, so yeah he can actually draw an educated decision.

He's made 4 Premier league apps there. It's too early to claim he's suddenly superior. Very bizzare.

He played vast number of appearances on the wing and in another league. So yeah, you can't claim he's suddenly a superior passer in Central midfield in the Premier League from that. Would be pretty daft to suggest that over someone like say, Fred who has always operated centrally and comes off the back of a standout year in the position.

Periera is a good player, but severely overrated by some of our fans like the rest of our youngsters tbh.

I think Fred won't bad at all in Pogba's position if he's absent. I will keep Fellaini as impact sub and play Matic-Fred-Herrera.

Exactly. Because he's an academy player with a handful of apps people want to bone him as this superior midfielder. There is a reason Jose doesn't trust him just yet and there's a reason Valencia opted to use him out wide on many occasions rather than operate purely centrally.

No one is overrating him - he has a very expansive passing range that only Pogba has. If Pereira isn't the 2nd best passer in the team then who is? Mata, Herrera and Matic don't have an expansive passing range.

You don't just chuck a player in midfield only because they have an "expansive passing range" alone. So much more gets considered
And I'd argue Matic and Mata are generally able to pass better than most.

You must have been sniffing those loveheart sweets. Pereira has not created a single chance this season, on the other hand Fred has created 9 chances this season with an average of 1.5 per 90 minutes.

How many games have we seen him play for us to evaluate him as second best passer in the team. Definitely Mata and Herrera are ahead by a long shot. Herrera has some sublime through balls and we have seen it many times here.

What does playing in another league has to do with someone's ability to pass the ball. Do people seriously still go on about these arguments about different leagues and use them as reasons why certain players wouldn't hack it in the PL?

La liga is one of the top league alongside PL and he's played there for 2 years. If he was able to show his passing there, then there is no reason why he wouldn't be able to do so in England.

It's also funny how you bring up Fred yet you're basing your argument entirely on what he did in another league.

Apparently his passing should be ignored because he's shown it in Spain hence it doesn't count. The usual he did it in some other league therefore he can't do it in the bestest of best league that is the unmatched PL.

Whoever wins, at least MU are a team worth watching now. If we can mix it with their midfield, with Fellaini, herrera and pogba then we may get lucky.

We beat the favourites for the Champions League midweek, in their backyard. I know we’ve been so so but have a bit more confidence than this man !

City are a better than Juve and snatching a win from a couple of set pieces against a Juve side who are clearly better than us isn’t really grounds for confidence.

Oh man, just not looking forward to this at all :(

We don't know if he's superior yet but he showed enough in pre season that he should be part of the team and get more chances because we saw that he developed in all aspects. Fred should be part of the midfield anyway because he's strong box to box and creative as well. Imo Herrera and Matic should compete for one role and then you choose from Fred, Periera for the second role and Pogba the third when fit with Fellaini taking the impact sub role.
