I hope he is not. Else we're fecked.
We're better equipped to deal with it this time than last season I hope with the addition of Fred to the midfield.
Herrera, Fred, Mata, lingard, periera.. there are options.

They have been putting 4/5 past opponents for fun in recent weeks. For the love of God, hope we defend well.

On the one hand I'm really looking forward to this, on the other, I'm not.

    Thanks.

Honestly I'm just hoping they don't pummel us, it will really derail us again.

We're capable of a victory but even so a draw would be a very good result as it'll keep that sense of momentum going.

I hear that Aidan Barlow has been promoted into the squad, probably with Pogba being a doubt

Why the feck is Pogba seemingly always injured before playing City? The only time I recall him playing against them was the 3-2 at the Etihad and he was a big reason why we won.

This will be anything between 5-0 and 1-2. No way in hell do we keep a clean sheet with players like Lindelof and Young on the pitch for 90 minutes. If City are hungry and motivated, unlike Juve on Wednesday, they can crush us. Important that Herrera plays and harrasses like crazy, hopefully without getting a yellow the first 30 minutes.

    70-20-10

People saying City will pummel us should hang their heads in shame. Ffs such annoying bunch, just want to sound over dramatic and pessimistic just for the hell of it.

So because we’re United-fans we should avoid looking at objective facts and concentrate on overrating mediocre players like Lindelöf instead? City have scored 17 goals in their last three home games, they have scored 2x6 and 1x5 goals at home in the league - they are very capable of pummeling United. It all depends on what team that shows up on Sunday, the defensive approach of the team starting against Newcastle - or the one fighting against Chelsea or Juve. Today the odds are we will do ok and not be embarrassed, after the Newcastle-game I wouldn’t dare to follow this game.

4-3-1-2 for me. Young, Baillie, Lindelof, Shaw, Fred, Pereira, Herrera, Pogba, Martial, Rashford. Mata in for Pogba if unfit.

We may get pummelled in possession stats for a half but not on the scoreline.

Man mark David Silva out of the game and press fernandinho relentlessly that will have them sorted out.

We have all the tools to stop them, being free flowing and hurt them with our strengths , need to put them to good use and be clinical in both boxes.

Regardless we have conceded too many goals, with our lethargic stupidity on the pitch , I think we will be up for this defensively. We struggled against physical and direct sides, while city can be direct, physically we have the edge over them and it won't make it easy for them like any other day.

Although if we do get significantly behind, I don't think we would come back this time as pep will learn from last time and just waste time with the ball to force us to press and open us. The ocassion is too important for us to be lethargic, but we have got to get our tactics and selection right, without pressing we won't have a good time watching the game.

What a glorious time to be hitting a hot streak. Come on Utd, I believe in you.

Was overconfident for Spurs game and we lost. Had zero for Chelsea and Juventus and we did well. The players know we can win there but City are a different team this season. Look better defensively. I would've thought Jose might mention their tactical fouls prematch. They have pace out wide that our fullbacks struggle with. Tricky midfielders to run rings around Matic. If we are going to win every player needs to be put in a solid 8-9/10. Young at RB ran himself into the ground against Juventus and he is a vital player for width and set pieces I hope he is ready. Dont want to see Rashford anywhere near freekicks and corners if he plays. I think Mata should start - we need players who will make the right decision when we get the chance rather than put their head down and run. If we play the classic Jose way Fellaini should start to hold the ball up, or if we go for this more high pressing style then Sanchez should keep his place.

There's a glimmer of hope within me, but I feel much the same to the Juventus game whereby a point would be a great result.

Their movement is ultimately what will undo us I think, there's no way Lindelof and Smalling will be on the ball for a full 90 minutes to stop everything getting through.

On the contrary, the reason they havent conceded much is simply due to the sheer dominance of their possession stats. When they have been pressurised, they have cracked and Ederson has shown some weakness already this year.

I would love for us to come out and press them fully for the first 20 minutes or so, really get in their faces and jump on some mistakes. I would concentrate on Mendy's side (he's prone to fecking up and is a bit stupid, so might stupidly lunge in giving himself a card of either colour) and see if anything happens.

I know they won't pressure though and sit back, likely 2-0 by halftime then push for the remainder of the game clawing a late one back.

    2-1 City for me.

Big Fella gonna enterntain them for good and please don't play Lukaku , City will be 11 , not 10

I still have nightmares from when he assisted the 2 goals for city. That match was the beginning of our implosion last year.

And I am reading reports that Pogba might be out for the derby. Can somebody confirm this? We are absolutely fecked if he is not available.

Stop talking nonsense and sit down to think before writing. City have scored a flurry of goals against mediocre teams, they don't go around and put 5 or 6 against other top teams.

If you can't see that and think sounding pessimistic makes you some objective fan or whatetever than you seriously lack much rationality in your thinking. Like I said some of you need to hang their heads in shame or just stop writing, it's embarrassing.

    Pretty much this.

Wait you were confident about our Spurs game after the results we were having? That's odd.

Liverpool were in the last UCL final and finished 4th in the league in the same season. 25 points behing Man City.

So they got to one final without winning anything vs a team that has got to 2 of the last 4 finals whilst winning thophies. Sure ok

Seems stupid to say about one game but given recent results, if we managed to win this were in a title race. Lose and we absolutely are not. A draw gives keeps things open.

It’s a six pointer but also like the old Trafford game last season a defeat would be pretty disheartening or certainly a defeat where we aren’t competitive

All our rivals face easy fixtures this weekend.
It's actually a must win game.

We need fred and Herrera although mata come in handy as well. Depends on what our game plan should be.

I just hope we wont concede first again. Sit deep and hit them on the counter. Dont allow them too much time on the ball though. I love comebacks but at one point they stop.

in a 38 game season a game in November isn't really is it - particularly when you are away to the best team in the league, better in almost every position, in superb form with revenge on their mind after last year

a draw would be very acceptable

yes I think if we go toe to toe we will struggle badly as they are better technically, our movement still leaves a lot to be desired and we will try and kill the game, restricting them and try and pick them off

wouldn't be surprised to see Fellaini play a part in this

I was watching the sky sports show on youtube and they were debating whether Pep is the greatest ever coach. It left a bitter taste in my mouth. Our team absolutely needs to put in a performance on Sunday. If Jose is this master of defense, he absolutely needs to show it.

Not all. Watford and Bournemouth have it easy, but I don't see how Everton can get a win against Chelsea.

    It's a lame post, I know. I am praying for a 1-0 or 2-1 win.
