We won there last year and we just beat Juventus. You are saying you would take a loss before the game even starts .

    Last year :drool::drool::drool:

Gotta admit though, the odds of that are probably lower than us losing by at least 3 goals.

I actually just checked on bet365. 8/1 for us to win, 5/1 for City to win by 3 goals!

For Some crazy reason I think we will knick this too! The players are trying and we do have some top class talent. We are just starting to see it click into gear again... saying all that this will probably be our hardest match this season. Hopefully the Juve match has galvanised us!

Can't believe some people would want us to lose just to get Jose out. I am on the fence with Jose, but I know I want United to win regardless. Come on you Devil!

Wth is with this "luck" being given the credits for SAF's dominating United football teams being lucky teams and now the United under Jose getting good recent results. Less appreciating the works, attitude and huge efforts them all (managers, players, coaches, supporters) have done when they tried to win those many games. When we play terrible in games and still snatch wins from few scoring chances, then we made the most of those chances finishing it well. The opposing teams that dominate and fluffed their many chances to kill the games lose because they don't capitalize on it, rubbish finishing basically. Where's the luck in those two.

    Our hidden player,
    Name: Luke Larke Luckie
    His mother: Lady Luck
    Shirt Number: #777

Guess if we will beat the good form MCity next, some people will say we're lucky to win it.

As much as it was nice to beat Juve, I consider them inferior to City almost in every department. I expect City to take us on a merry ride round the Etihad from minute one and with our incredibly disjointed non-system, I wonder how we are going to counter that. I expect City to be far more clinical than Juve too.

I would agree except for Bailly. Why would you drop Lindelof? I think he’s on a decent run of form.

I think we will be outplayed but find a way to win. Can see us scoring 2 or 3 on the counter with like 30% possession.

I think we'll either pull a result out of one of our orifices ... or they'll absolutely dick us. Like 5-0 or something.

I really hope it's the former.

In the leadup to Juventus I felt mildly in my waters like a Mourinho masterclass. Not sure I get the same feeling for this game, but might be.

Reports that Pogba missed his plain home from Italy (possible disciplinary actions taken?) and Sanchez is a doubt due to that dead leg. We'll need both if we are to get anything out of this game

He missed the plane through no fault of his own, he was picked (one player each CL game) as the obligatory player to be drug tested, the testers were late, and he touched down in Manchester one whole hour(!) after the rest of the squad (travelled with the club execs and fans). Sanchez is a beast, he’ll be ready. ;)

    What for?

I fear we’re gonna get hammered. Too many lucky escapes recently, and City are going to have a field day if we keep defending like we have this season.

Do you have any credible info before raising such inflammatory questions? He had a drug test and that's why he was late. Please make sure you have the correct info before posting such things at least in a forum like this one.

Watch, we're going to stick it to City. 1-0, fluky goal coming off the back off Felaini's afro after riding our luck all game.

Good to know, just saw the headline on my phone so admittedly didn't look into the reason why

    Oh bore off

Yeah, it was a headline the same night on the Scandinavian supporter website, but they have a guy travelling as a ‘journalist’ to every CL game so get good intel quickly most of the time. Luckily there’s a lot of United fans in Scandinavia!

I am more miserable than usual today to be fair but it is mostly because they are so good, the annoying cnuts.

I was at the Emirates, quite by happenstance, and saw their first game of the season v Arsenal. It scared me, really. Their movement, individually and collectively is so far out from what we’re used to, it’s valid to be apprehensive. They deserved to lead by at least three at half time, and besides Ederson gifting Arsenal a big chance at the very end, Arsenal didn’t have any joy. I started to worry about this game instantly.

We did win last season though, so everything’s possible I guess.

Rumours Sanchez had taken a knock and is a doubt?

I'm going for 2-2 - just trying to be optimistic as we are showing some resilience of late.

We will have somebody sent off after putting up a very good resistance and then we will crumble, some of the players looking to be back in the team, IE Ander, will be too fired up for this, maybe Pogba after an emotional but disappointing game midweek.

Apparently Lukaku has a chance of making Sunday. If he does, he should not be starting. The team has looked far more cohesive without him. Let's hope the Sanchez knock wasn't too serious.

Jose Saying Lukaku could be back

“No new injuries,” Mourinho told MUTV. “So from Juventus, we don't bring important injuries. We have 'touches' but I don't think any player that was available for Juventus will be out.

”We have a chance - it is Friday morning now - that Lukaku could be back.“

So hopefully Sanchez will be ok

Lukaku even if fit shouldn't start. We have other options and even Fellaini to use for the direct approach coming from the bench.

It's good that we had Juve a game before, we'll hopefully be more ready for the higher level.

Let's just hope it doesn't go badly and knock our new found confidence.

JM will never drop Smalling but I still consider Bailly are best CB.

Sanchez's knock means I'd go full-bore here. Fellaini up front. Why not? Bypass their pressing, he can flick the ball on/hold it up for Martial and say Rashford to belt either side of him.

    Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw

    Rashford, Fellaini, Martial

SUBS - Sanchez (Rashford), Mata (Herrera), Lingard (Fellaini)
