I hope that Jose will end this experiment with Lingard on right wing and play with Mata or Rashford. Personally i am huge pessimist in this match. I hate them and their manager as anybody else but i must admit that they look powerfull. On top of that they play quicker in attack and are good in corners. feck, how to beat those feckers?

Sorry guys for negativity( i always think that we will win) but this time can't help it

Think it will be a similar approach to the Juve game. Hope we don't gift them stupid goals.

I predicted 433 lineup but i have a feeling that Jose will try something new for this match. 361 or 4321. So with lots of midfielders.

I really do hope we have a go at them. I'd accept defeat, begrudgingly, if it was say 3-2 and we had a real go at them. If we start like we have of late and go a few behind, then it would be really frustrating if we lost without having a go. I doubt City will miss the chances Juve did in the second half.
Work will be fecking horrendous if we get beat without having a shot on target, or some similar stat that makes the gulf between the sides even more evident.

On paper, they should thrash us. They took a fair few points off us back in the 2000's though when we were one of the best in europe & they were shit. Anything can happen in a derby, as last year proved.

Hmmm. Someone other than me, hates Pep and MCFC?
I thought that I was the only one who refuses to worship at the alter of St Pep, but it seems there is another.
So, there is some positive to be drawn from that. ;)

You probably thought that Wednesday night too

They hit the woodwork twice and missed two sitters. We’re looking better going forward but every game we’re giving away massive chances, and City are in red hot scoring form. It’s a derby so you never know, but I cannot imagine City will be anywhere near as wasteful as Juve and Bournemouth have been. I’m not looking forward to it at all and think we’re going to get a pasting.

I like you can see a rout for City. I respect fans though that somehow will be posting in the match day thread how awful we are, even if its still 0-0, like the Juve game. Because for those fans they can put all our averageness aside, the fact our defence is one of the worst in the league, or the fact our midfield doesn't exist.....and think we should win every game as if this season and our defence....never happened.

Not feeling confident about this game. Just hope we give it a real good go. Defensively, we need to be disciplined and not gift them easy chances otherwise, they will annihilate us. Offensively, be brave and just have a go. When chances open up for us, got to take them.

Head says City will win this comfortably, heart says we can get something from this game.

It's not one of the worst in the league though, we've had one of the best defensive records 3-4 seasons running, now of course you can say that's due to being defensive / De Gea but the defence is certainly top 6 material.
Is it really worse than Arsenals defence?
Midfield on paper is one of the best in the league but if we go based on how they've been playing it's not even better than championship teams? really?

As much as it was nice to beat Juve, I consider them inferior to City almost in every department. I expect City to take us on a merry ride round the Etihad from minute one and with our incredibly disjointed non-system, I wonder how we are going to counter that. I expect City to be far more clinical than Juve too.
Every department? I would consider Man City inferior in every department bar goalie and I'd have Mahrez over Cuadrado.

You’d be wrong. They’ve conceded 4 and scored 35 in their last 11 games, or something ridiculous.

    Stronger team, superior manager.

Juventus are an inferior team compared to City. I'm not talking about the squad.

The same Juve that has been to 2 of the last 4 UCL finals.....

So they have a better defence? Which is where we struggled (and eventually overcame) against Juve. De Bruyne Is out. Juve's forward line has Ronaldo and Dybala. The managers are totally different, I feel we'll create more chances against city.

You are basing your argument on names: Juve have bigger names in defence and attack, so they must have better defence and attack.

The argument might have something to it but the actual numbers suggest a different picture. City are outscoring Juve by far (45 vs 31 combined in the league and the CL) while conceding fewer goals despite having already played away several top teams in England (7-10). xG supports that picture too.

Of course, Juve are more economical and pragmatic in their approach. The interesting thing is that they still concede more goals and chances than City. Maybe the latter's pressing is better.

    I'm optimistic of a 1-1 or maybe even a 1-0 for us.

    Why? I don't know - blind faith.

On paper - we get steamrolled like most teams that come up against city.

Confidence can do wonders - we're on a good run and beating Juve away should help us kick on again.

My main worry is leaving it too late. I don't think we can nick a win so late against City, we have to perform better from the start.

We are guilty so often of poor decision making, individual errors. Each player needs to have a 7/8 out of 10 with no mistakes for us to remain in the game, yet alone win it.

    Massive game

I think that the environment will help us, the team morale is up due to the comeback against Juve and still we are the underdogs by far. No one expects something from us, and that can play to our advantage, if the minutes keep running and City do not score the pressure will be on them.

We are entering the match as dead man, nothing to lose and a lot to win. So let's hope we can take advatange of that.

It's a derby, everything's possible. A red card for City could help. They are likely to dominate. They are comparable to Juve in class but will be seriously fired up for the game. The pressing, especially in the first half, will be intense. It's important to avoid mistakes in the build-up.

I think they're around the same level of team. I think there is some serious over rating of Man City going on, they are probably as good as Juve, I'm sure Juve were undefeated this season until us as well.

The number of goals is impressive, but that doesn't make them better than Juve, football doesn't work that way, there are successful teams who run rampant and score 3 a game, but equally, there are successful teams who don't. It's just about the style of football. Doesn't mean when the two great teams come together, the high scoring team will knock 3 past the more pragmatic team.

I think we'll get a result on Sunday.

Those who think they are much better than Juve quite overrate them for sure while those who think that they might be a little bit better right now might be right. It's a moot question anyway. Both teams are not going to play any time soon and in 5 months things may be quite different. Juve are a great team.

The derby will have little in common with the game in Turin, it will be much more dynamic, intense and emotional. It is virtually guaranteed that City will run and press way more than Juventus did in Turin, we should up our work-rate too to match their effort.

Ironically I always had more hope in this game more than the Juve one, since we seem to always do well in big games in England ever since LVG was here. It's European matches that always seemed the problem. Can still lose this though, doesn't mean anything.

They're capable of taking this United team apart.

Can't see anything for us and would be happy to simply not get thrashed. 2-0 City

One of the reporters asked Jose if we were back in contention for title if we defeat them as the gap is only 6 pts. Jose replied something of the sort one match at a time.
The folks on MUTV were not happy and were convinced a win means we are back on. And then proceeded to ask our captain marvel the same thing. He was like "No!! Man City and Liverpool are very very strong and we are nowhere near it as of now. We are not contenders sadly. City has put a benchmark for rest of the clubs and it is up to us to respond"

All we can do is attack them fiercely. Teams have been able to score against them and so we have a chance to score. But the only problem is that we need to be clinical. We won't get too many chances. So we need to be really good with the ones we get.

Do people still hold this ridiculous opinion?

Not for me. Structurely they are well ahead. Their recruitment has been significantly better.

While I like Jose, Pep is on balance the better coach.
I have taken a lot of flak for saying that I have some respect of them and I fully understand how people dislike the way they are owned.

It is a derby and (hopefully) we can get some form of result.
I am apprehensive yes, but more optimistic than pessimistic. Fingers crossed.

Juve had a ridiculous amount of chances at our goal and DDG pulled out some naughty saves.

Whilst Mourinho has been a party pooper in the big games and has the ability to go against the odds I just feel we will lose easily in this match.

    3-1 City.
