Rashford finds form and he's on the bench. Must be an injury

Benching Rashford after the game midweek would be bizarre management.
He’s tactically trying to keep the left side tight and probably thinks Garnaucho will work harder for the team. With Dalot being exposed last week defensively. Clearly wants to keep the game tight and then spring from deep with Eriksen passing.

We will try and play a high line and then try and get on top of the Palace midfield however last time we played them Wharton just dominated our midfield.

We need to take our chances and use at least 3 or 4 players from a very strong bench.

I can just see Eze driving through our midfield, who's stopping him?

If it works out, Erik's a genius

I try to be optimistic but the front 6 is mental. Mainoo and Eriksen aren't very good defensively to start with, playing them together with a front four is asking for trouble.

The strength of the bench does add a bit of comfort.

Inexplicable if not. He's back in some sort of form
Amad/Garnacho/Rashford are all in form, one has to miss out. Loads of games and they'll all rotate with each other throughout the season I'd bet. It's a good problem to have

Ugarte and Rashford would have been in my team, not Erikson or Garnacho. But let's see what happens.I guess the idea is that goalscorers don't get dropped for reputations.

Wow, not much else to say that has been said about the midfield. Can see halftime substitution.

Picking the front 3 was hard, I get that but also would have played Rashford but that is not close to as glaring as the midfield.

Dumb idea to play eriksen for the third time in a week. Will cost us by half time

Don't love Eriksen playing three in a row, but I suppose that's an inevitable consequence of Casemiro being out of favour, Ugarte needing more time and Mount returning from injury.

Hopefully we get away with the light midfield today and look stronger by the time the Spurs game rolls around.

Garnacho is also in form. Garnacho was also on the bench last week. It's just rotation.

Could he be playing Bruno as the 8 and keeping Eriksen in the 10? Give us more legs if Bruno was further back

Midfield is getting overrun without a doubt

It’s one thing against Barnsley and Southampton but Palace away is a different challenge

All our rivals winning comfortably today. Could be a horrid weekend for us if we don't get a result here. Was feeling confident before but seeing that midfield has brought back flashbacks of us getting passed around like a dog toy in the 4-0 game last season.

It's just that the problems with this line up seem really, really obvious.

Eze is going to run through us time and time again.
He was complaining about Rashford. Garnacho and Amad are in very good form and Amad is fresher after being subbed on late vs Barnsley. He's managing the minutes and Rashford coming off the bench vs tired legs would be a good move in theory. But no, he's already an idiot.

Just terrible terrible fans to be honest. Knives out before a ball is kicked. If you wanted to see a clear agenda it's right there.

Villa, Newcastle not winning and West Ham smashed by Chelsea... Not all bad

Europe league on Thursday innit? Guessing that's why Rashford especially is on the bench. Ugarte is being eased in but still, he's a cert to start on Thursday.

Definitely not the lineup I expected, I do find the decision to save Rashford for the Europa game a bit bizarre when his confidence is high and we've literally played him every week for over a year when he's been poor but let's see what happens.

3-3 type of match with this lineup. Eze is going to run rings around Eriksen, and it's going to be torture to watch. Who will be there for the inevitable cut back goals Palace will score?

Also, Wharton's chance to impress as you'll not be stifled by that midfield, as opposed to outplayed.

I don't know who is supposed to pick up Eze, mind. If he's smart and drifts between the lines, it could be a real issue.

Like a lot have said on here, our midfield line up is giving me the fear, no real defensive minded player and their from 3 of Nketiah, mateta and Eze could cause us real grief.

Yeah genuinely strange team selection. You have to feel this way, but let's see, he's a professional manager.
How is it strange? It’s the same team that won convincingly against Soton. Just with Garnacho instead of Rashford.

Eriksen scored 2 goals from the midfield and played one of his best games for us. He was always going to start.
