    Seriously worried about our midfield.

Can see too much space and being over-run.

    Hope I'm wrong.

I would play Ugarte instead of Mainoo and Rashford instead of either Garnacho or Amad. Physically weak midfield. We will have to play possession for this to work. Worried about the pivot defensively.

Well yeah, I just don't fancy it against a better side than Southampton.

Hope you're right and we control the game the same way we did for most of that.

To be fair I was very surprised with it last week, and if we start the same this week they’ll punish us.

I think this has the potential to get ugly. That midfield is asking for trouble. Ten Hag getting carried away with Eriksen against Barnsley.

Agree with this, happy to hopefully be wrong!

I really don’t get the thought behind that midfield for what’s going to be a tricky away match.

Eriksen playing 3 games in a row is asking for trouble… Interesting to bench Rashford

The Ice man is back! Perfectly timed to take our performance levels up a few notches.

If he's travelled, who is making way for him in the starting 11? No one across the defence and midfield is safe as some players are just built to be starters.

    @golden_blunder
Victor Lindelof has often been criticized as a weak link in Manchester United's defense due to several recurring issues in his game. He struggles with physicality, often being outmuscled by stronger forwards, which leads to vulnerability in aerial duels and one-on-one situations. His lack of pace has also been exposed by faster attackers, causing problems in covering spaces behind the defensive line. Additionally, Lindelof’s decision-making under pressure has been inconsistent, sometimes leading to costly mistakes or positional errors that leave the defense exposed. While he possesses good ball-playing ability, his defensive frailties, particularly in high-pressure games, have led many to view him as not being up to the standard required for a title-challenging team like Manchester United. To conclude, @golden_blunder is correct and anyone that says otherwise is a moron

Now he benches Rashford...Ericksen and Mainoo in midfield, I don't get it.

Playing Eriksen in a more physically demanding position against a much better side after he's already played this week is quite confusing, in line with Ten Hag's style of thinking I guess.
He doesn’t help himself that’s for sure.

    Is this from chatgpt?

Either that midfield will easily get outrun or ETH is fecking genius. Place your bet.

Rashford better have a knock or ETH is just plain stupid.

I’d like to see a midfield of Ugarte and Eriksen at some point. Mainoo is still relatively young and we shouldn’t be starting him every game. We got reliant on him towards the end of last season.

so he refuses to bench Rashford through 18 months of terrible form and when he's finally finding some form again he benches him? Make it make sense.

Why isn't Rashford starting, the guys confidence is back up and he's on the bench?
He's either got a niggle as I can't see how he's not starting. Hope eth has got this right

    Nice bench though

Seems odd that neither Ugarte or Casemiro start. As everyone has already said. Midfield looks worryingly lightweight

I'm more concerned by that lightweight midfield than the absence of Rashford.

Yes, huge chance we will get ran over in the middle
I've never played beyond Sunday league and am no expert but it's just feels obvious what the problems will be, as it was with last years tactics.

I'm struggling to believe how the manager of Manchester United can't see it.

It is but we need an inform Rashford if we’re going to have a successful season, I’d have started him today.

I’d guess he’s carrying a small knock, as it doesn’t really make sense otherwise. That said, we have three good quality wingers, so makes sense not to take any chances with any of them and rotate regularly.

Rashford being on the bench is a surprise, but was always going to be an unlucky 4th one who missed out from him, Garnacho, Amad and Zirkzee so didn't mind which combination we went with.

The Eriksen selection isn't great in my opinion. Feels like when we waited for a defeat before bringing in De Ligt, rather than bring him to try and prevent the defeat because he's our first choice. Yes, Eriksen has played well v Southampton and Barnsley - but for Palace away we should have gone in with someone else. Ideally Ugarte. It's not his kind of match and I'm expecting him to be overrun. Would have preferred to use him at home to Twente on Wednesday instead - much more his type of game nowadays.

What a strange lineup. Rashford is finally gaining confidence and finishing…only to get benched? Really hope Eriksen and Mainoo stay disciplined and don’t get pushed around too much.

Nice to have forward options. Amad, Garnacho, Rashford and Zirkzee all done enough to challenge for a starting spot. And Hoyjlund to come back, too.

3 matches for Eriksen in one week, that's not good. We're getting overrun in midfield aren't we?

Seems questionable to bench Rashford as he hits form but we finally have good competition with all 3 in form so it's bound to happen.

Eriksen rewarded with another start, but 3 in a week isn't logical after not getting any minutes for a while. Especially at Palace away. Should've just used him in Europe.

Rashford better have a knock or ETH is just plain stupid.
Funny because a few week ago everyone was calling for him to be dropped. We have options now with everyone in form. It’s good to rotate. Rashford will be lethal of the bench.
