Put 7 past Palace and I’ll be impressed.

Realistically a banana skin, would take the draw.

I expected 9 points from our first 5 matches.

    Fulham: Win
    Brighton & Hove: Draw
    Liverpool: Draw
    Southampton: Win
    Crystal Palace: Draw

So we must win tomorrow :p

Really tough test at a ground where we got spanked 4-0 five months ago. Under the lights again, they’ll be up for it. Players need to prove a point from last season.

    2-2.

There's always a good reason to worry about the next opponent -- there was even some bedwetting here about facing Barnsley -- but we really should be crushing this Palace side tomorrow. I only have us down for a 0-2 win, but it really should be closer to 0-4.

I had totally forgotten about this . Some of the hammerings we’ve received under Ten Hag have been an embarrassment to the club.

Fluid front three of Garnacho, Rashford and Amad. All three can easily switch into any of the front three roles. That's how I'd start it myself.

    I do like Zirksee though.

Thought of the same might not happen but it’s in my line up prediction. Zirkzee off the bench if needed worth a try

Need to win this tricky away game. 2-0 to United would be genuine progress.

I'd like to see a continuation of the front 3 that started against Southampton of Amad-Zirkzee-Rashford, with Garnacho to come on. I don't like a front 3 with Rashford as the front man, plus I think at the moment Garnacho is going through another phase where he's more effective coming off the bench than starting.

Palace haven't started the season in great form but at home, this will be an acid test of whether the last 2 performances from the attack, and the team as a whole, indicate an genuine uptick in form, or was it flat track bullying against weak opposition.

After 2 straight wins, I'm way too overconfident we gonna trash Palace today. I need an Amad goal, another streak for Rashy and I don't know maybe a screamer from Mainoo.

Palace haven't looked good , I don't think they've even won a league game have they? I'm oddly hopeful we'll win actually, but it is the sort of match for them to kick start their season.

    Really looking forward to this.

First 30minutes against Southampton we weren’t great, but then took a hold of the game and looked comfortable.

We beat Barnsley 7-0, and albeit it league 1 standard, it surely must be a confidence booster to some of the lads.

But what matters now is today, we need to take these positives and have another good performance today. Come away with a comfortable victory and maybe things are coming together.

Worth noting just how geniunely terrible the lineup was we trotted out for that 4-0 game. This was the starting 11:

    Onana
    Dalot - Casemiro - Evans - AWB
    Mount - Eriksen
    Antony - Mainoo - Garnacho
    Holjund

    Subs: Amrabat, Wheatley, Amad

We should be better at say 6 positions? Both CBs, LB, DM, CM, RW. Along with better subs.

It's not an easy game, but one we should be very competitive in. Betting markets are giving us a 43% chance to win, vs 35% for Palace (22% chance of a draw).

Yeah that wouldn't be so bad considering the usual unprepared start to the season

The Ice man is back! Perfectly timed to take our performance levels up a few notches.

If he's travelled, who is making way for him in the starting 11? No one across the defence and midfield is safe as some players are just built to be starters.

    @golden_blunder

Will be a bit of a small statement if we win. Would mean we can at least string some performances together.

I'm sensing just a pinch of sarcasm here

You say that like he didn't have to play a squad he wouldn't even play against a league one side in the league cup

    Screenshot-20240921-034113-Chrome.jpg

    Amad for Antony
    Bruno for Mount
    Ugarte for Eriksen
    Mazraoui for Wan-Bissaka
    Martinez for Evans
    de Ligt for Casemiro

Not saying we can just show up and expect to win and we'll have to play well but we will be fielding a much better squad

2 draws and 2 defeats. They've looked poor and we really need to be winning this.

They have but worth noting they are adapting slowly without Olise and Anderson. Chalobah and Nketiah are now more integrated and I think theyl start clicking into gear soon enough. Looks like they're tweaking a bit with Nketiah and Mateta as options for two up top. Nketiah has already gotten off the mark with a goal for them.

Palace at their own ground is a particularly tricky test. They have always been game raisers. That stadium for me is the best atmosphere in London with fans making it a couldron.

Being without a win (despite only one game at home, which was a draw), only means theyl go for it more at Selhurst today. Theyl certainly be a handful and a strong test.

You make some good points. Palace won't just hand us the game on a plate. The atmosphere will be hostile, they have a decent coach and some good players, contrary to what their early season results indicate.

What I'm looking for from us is fight. The players must take responsibility. Both in and out of possession. Do that and should get a chance to show your football. I expect a win and a convincing performance.

    I want to see this...

    Onana
    Mazraoui-De Light-Martinez-Dalot
    Casemiro-Ugarte
Eriksen (Don´t use him in the pivot!)
    Garnacho-Zirkzee-Rashford

Bruno for Eriksen at 60-70 min. (Bruno will 99% start though, which is also fine.)
Højlund for Zirkzee (Let´s get Rasmus back with a goal)
Amad for Garnacho or Rashford (Amad could also start instead of Garnacho.)
Mainoo for Casemiro (Mainoo should not be run into the the ground so early in the season.)

It finally begins to look like a United squad....

    Onana

Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot

    Ugarte - Mainoo

    Amad - B.Fernandes - Rashford

    Zirkzee
subs: Bayindir, Maguire, Evans, Casemiro, Eriksen, Mount, Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho

score prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester United

Really important game for the manager. Feel like the result and performance today, be it good or bad, can define the rest of the season honestly.

Horrible match. I feel like away at Palace is the most hostile atmosphere we encounter in the league every season.

    Onana

Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot

    Ugarte - Mainoo

    Amad - B.Fernandes - Rashford

    Zirkzee
subs: Bayindir, Maguire, Evans, Casemiro, Eriksen, Mount, Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho

score prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester United
    He’ll start Eriksen or Casemiro, Ugarte will be on the bench but soon we will have the 9 options to play the 4 attacking positions ;
Number 10; Bruno/Mount/C Eriksen, Right Wing left footed Striker; Amad/Anthony, Left Wing Striker right footed ; Marcus Rashford/A Garnaucho, Centre Forward; R Hojlund/J Zirkzee.

This alone makes a huge balance as 2 or 3 of your 9 subs will always feature if the other 4 attacking players don’t perform and work hard, this giving the manager serious options.

I recently saw an article where the Chelsea Manager eloquently suggest that he had 8 excellent options for the front 4 positions with ; (CF)N Williams, C Nkunku, (No 10) C Palmer, J Felix, (LWS) J Sancho, M Mudryk, (RWS) Pedro Neto, N Madueke and everyone keeps saying how deep and strong these options are?

United are superior at left wing, superior at CFW, very evenly matched at Number 10 and only inferior at right wing?

So United are currently also superior to Spurs, Villa and Newcastle in terms of squad quality and depth, my point ETH has no more lives left and no more excuses, this is his squad and should he do what’s expected of him by being in top 4/5 at start of the new year, I’m sure the club will back him with another £60-70m to go purchase a left back and another Box to Box Midfielder if he shows interest that United are competing in all competitions again.

    Amad surely starts this?
Should be one of the first 4 or 5 names on the team sheet with current form. I also think Zirkzee will play because of how he influences the game and get the team up the pitch, his link up play is fantastic and as soon as he gets up to speed he’s going to be a beast, I actually think in some games we could play Ugarte/Casemiro and Mainoo/Bruno in Centre midfield as a 2 and have Zirkzee and Rasmus up front together, think they will cause carnage with Amad and Garnaucho or Marcus out wide.

There is no better time to go to Palace, they've been on a horrible run. We should be winning this.
