Welbeck's 1st goal for United*, 100th against us. Somethings are inevitable.
*cracker it was too.
*cracker it was too.
We've not been as bad as this thread suggests
Easy nowLordy. I'm starting to miss Antony.
They're controlling the game and certainly the middle of pitch. They might be shite in front of goal but they've scored and they're preventing us from playing. Outplayed.Wouldn’t say outplayed. What game you watching they had half a chance and scored
100% . Have said we need a top winger all summer. Obviously the likes of Antony and Sancho are clogging the squad though in terms of recruitment.Amad is the latest RedCafe darling to become a great player simply by not playing, and therefore not being tarred with the same brush as the others.
He's been really poor today and I can't understand what he's done to justify starting over Garnacho.
Other than that, I think there are actually plenty of positives to take from this performance.
We have defended really well and have been caught-out by an individual error from Maguire, who will be 4th choice when our CBs are all fit.
We still lack goals...you won't get enough from Rashford and Amad...but we know this is a work-in-progress and we've been the better side here and looked largely in control
That's what you get with Harry Maguire every time.
How does Maguire not deal with that
Maguire should have just cleared that
Here we go! Starting Maguire directly related to conceding this goal
Feck off, Erik.
We have, but also not good at the same time.No we have been comfortably the better team.
He's been put in absolutely terrible spots several times, seems like our defenders often just get the ball to him and just expect him to do something magical with a shit pass.Agree. Mainoos been caught on the ball too often. Quite unlike him.
His mother passed away yesterday, maybe give him a bit of a break?Caf experts were telling me Amad passes like a #10
Attack pretty rubbish. One great chance and that came from a long ball from Onana, Dalot winning a header and then making an incredible cross.
Mount is doing great in terms of his pressing but there is clear lack of a reference point for the others up front, Zirkzee coming on should be the move but like last week it might open up the midfield a bit more for Brighton.
Much better shape defensively, soft goal with no-one covering themselves in glory aside. Encouraging because if the right balance can be found up front it could be a decent set up for the season.
I think the context of his mum just dying is probably quite important. Not quite at his sharpest mentally.
I agree. But we wete not good either. Thing which worries me is that Ten Hag's plan for this season is to play cautious football. When we concede first, that plan goes to shit. We've not been as bad as this thread suggests
Still a long way off this happening but if we lose this and then against Liverpool, I think he’s going to be under serious pressureAnd so, for the 2nd game in a row, the obvious changes are Garnacho and Zirkzee on. With Ten Hag as coach we are winning zip.
Don’t know what he contributes except running a lot.Mount needs to play, our midfield will be dominated by a 38yo Milner and Billy fecking Gilmore otherwise.
Clearly Rashford should be coming off.
Better? How, exactly? We’re better than we were last season but there are still glaring problems that need to be fixed.
Amad off I thinkRashford and Mount off for Zirkzee and Garnacho please.
I agree we’ve stifled them. But we need to see more when we have the ball. We’re too pedestrian and are definitely not playing well in that sense. Good off the ball for the most part but really average with it.That's because we have completed stifled them with our set-up and press from the front.
I can take losing games like this because it shows promise for what might be achieved when we have our best XI out and they have had a bit more time to get familiar with one another.
I'd almost rather see us lose games but play well than win games but play appallingly, because what we need now is signs of tactical development and structure
And then is too worried about the cutback rather than the cross across the face of the goal, even though you always cover the latter as you still have time to charge a cutback down.Amad has been very poor. Had one good cross for Rashford who was offside anyways and that was about it. Rashford equally terrible on the other side.
Maguire was pathetic for that goal. Just let's the ball go past him doing feck all.
We are doing okay. If we get a goal back I'd back us to go on and win. Brighton have created feck all.
We're preventing ourselves from playing if anything with the poor choices and playThey're controlling the game and certainly the middle of pitch. They might be shite in front of goal but they've scored and they're preventing us from playing. Outplayed.
If Antony puts in the half Amad just had, people would want him shot.
Shame Maguire shat the bed given two chances to deal with their goal. We've actually been fairly good in general play.
But still behindNo we have been comfortably the better team.
