We were always to get a tight competitive game away to Brighton and the kind of mistake Maguire made simply isn’t acceptable. You boot it the feck out for a corner, don’t gamble on the attacker not reaching it with such a half hearted clearance.

Up front Rashford and Amad are both poor, but the latter has been on the ball a lot more. We’ve been offside like 4 times this half in promising situation including the disallowed goal, that’s unacceptable.

    Changes need to be made.

We've actually not been bad. Other than the goal, Brighton pretty much created nothing. Unfortunately, our attacking players haven't been good enough to cause them problems in the final third.

Overall, we actually played well, without the finishing touch.

Maguire is a liability to the team. Too inconsistent. He can be a hero one week and the devil the next. His loss of focus is very worrying and will lose you a game at any time.

Amad has played poorly. One clear sight on goal and missed wildly. Several good positions including a 3 vs 2 and he screws up his pass.

Rashford could have done alot better. I think it's a lack of confidence on his part but frankly, he isn't playing as poorly as amad is.

Been solid. Pressing has been very good. Our wingers have both been awful. We've been wasteful in front of goal which is now a recurring theme. The first few games this season have made me quite concerned about not signing a reliable goal scorer. I don't have much confidence in our ability to score 2 goals right now.

Amad and Maguire off for Garnacho and De Ligt at half time please. I was surprised Garnacho didn't start anyway tbh.

Stating the bleedin’ obvious, that you win games by scoring more goals than the opposition.

Our ongoing problem is we can’t score goals and this game doesn’t look any different.
No CF or natural strikers and wayward finishing from the attacking players and others.

We’ll need at least 3 goals to secure this game and it doesn’t look likely at the half way point.

We have been good. Just lacked a bit of cutting edge this half.

We move the ball quite well from the back to front thanks to Martinez, Dalot, Mainoo and Bruno dropping back to make some great combination play. We still lack the ability to pin a team back in their half though

And so, for the 2nd game in a row, the obvious changes are Garnacho and Zirkzee on. With Ten Hag as coach we are winning zip.

They’ve been shite and we’re losing.
That's because we have completed stifled them with our set-up and press from the front.

I can take losing games like this because it shows promise for what might be achieved when we have our best XI out and they have had a bit more time to get familiar with one another.

I'd almost rather see us lose games but play well than win games but play appallingly, because what we need now is signs of tactical development and structure

Half of Sunday league deals with that cross better than Maguire did there. What the feck was he doing?

How does Amad survive this half? He’s been utter shite.
Because Rashford has been brutal as well, and quite frankly I trust the young kid to keep having a go over him. But either one can be subbed off with no complaints.

The bigger issue is this system is so static in possession, that any winger that isn't completely on top of his game will find it difficult. The Brighton CB's have very little threat to worry about through the middle, and it allows them to squeeze space on the attackers out wide. I said it last week, it's all well and good to jerk ourselves off to some good pressing stats but you are relying a TON on Bruno/Mount to be at the top of their game in the final third otherwise we'll struggle even more than we already do to score.

We’ve had more possession but Brighton have played us perfectly. Need to sub off Maguire and Amad for De Ligt and Garnacho. Rashford has been disappointing but let’s stick with him for the second half.

We were doing so well. Our press was good, we had one great chance and were one pass away from making more. But Amad and Maguire fecking up in attack and defense has lead us to be down. It's doubly frustrating knowing that our press will soon evaporate as our legs tire. I only hope the team has faith in themselves to keep going. We deserves something from this game.

Amad head is clearly not in it this first half, but people suggesting this is his normal level is taking the piss. First time he has been remotely this bad, very unlike him

I don’t understand our tactics. Brighton play a high line. We want Rashford and Amad to get in behind. Yet, we play our only player capable of finding them consistently (Bruno) as a false nine. No wonder our attack looks toothless.

Mainoo has been awful. Losing ball after ball. When he’s bad he’s really bad.

    That’s bollox

He’s offered more then Amad, worked hard and has shown moments of danger. Completely different body language from last season
Disagree, Amad has gone at his man on a couple of occasions and but for some bad decision making and a final pass he’d have created a goal already. Rashford on the other hand is worse than having 10 men since he insists on ending our attacks with the offside flag when he bothers to get involved. He isn’t good enough and anyone still backing the lad is sentimental at best.

Such a frustrating half. We’ve been decent and somehow we’re losing with the only mistake we’ve made.

Very frustrating game, comfortably the better side yet still behind. Mount has been terrific, Dalot and Mazraoui also positive. Get Garnacho and Zirkzee on for Rashford and Amad and we can turn this around.

Largely played well and don’t deserve to be losing this so far. We’ve just been a bit too wasteful when we get the ball in good positions. I can see Amad coming off for Garnacho early.
