Sure there are local rivalries, but you're discounting just how many childhoods we ruined under Fergie - the United scalp carries more value than the others aiming for top 6, if for nothing other than by virtue of being the biggest and most famous club by a mile.
Ruined the childhood of other top club fans yes, but you are over estimating how much non top fans actually care about who wins the league.

We can’t start without a striker again, but I wouldn’t bet on it. We need to beat these and I have a feeling we will 1-0

They play through that midfield same as teams did last season.
I'd think playing Amad and Mount on the wings would be a lot better. We'd need runners to track back and they both have decent engines on them. Wide backs tuck into the middle to overrun their midfield. Could work. Mount used to play pretty well out left

We definitely need the extra legs Mount brings. That’s the price we have to pay for not sorting out our midfield like in forever. Having to put an extra body in and sacrifice elsewhere.

Probs gonna tie at the charge card stadium.

Onana (new purple kit is nice)
    Maz Maggie Martinez Dalot
    Mainoo Casameiro
    Bruno
Amad Zirks Garnachos (i know it'll be rashy..)

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

    Amad, Bruno, Garnacho

    Zirkzee

No doubt ETH will pick his buddies Rash and Mount though.

Wonder how many months rashford will get. I think the problem is a goal buys his an extra 6 matches of being rubbis, and he can can score 1 every 3-4 matches.

No he wasn't, and Garnacho was worse when he came on. Just hyperbolic nonsense to continue to bash him.

All 3 of the wingers are capable of more but it was only the first game of the season, give them chance.

Its not nonsense. Rashford was really really poor. Garancho was also poor, but has shown so much more in the past 12 months that theres no quesiton of who is the more impactful player. Evidenced again by garnacho assisting while playing poorly (scored by zirkee, another attacker). There's no agenda here, or no big plan to bash him, he was dreadful again it really is that simple. He seems to have lost some pace, his dribbling has somehow gotten worse, he had no goals or assists which is standard now, but no shots, no succesful dribbles, gave the ball away very cheaply twice - on one occasion setting up a perfect counter for fulham. Again, stressing the point that there is simply no 'agenda' - he was dreadful. He offered nothing apart from a miscontrolled dribble breaking kindly for mount, and a sloppy pass for garnachos horrible miss.

If that's anywhere near the standard where taking as acceptable for an attacker at united, then 8th-10th is realistic again.

At this moment in time, I think he'd be much more useful to us as an impact sub against tiring legs.

But surprised that so many suggests Garnacho needs to get in the team. Thought he was rather poor vs Fulham?
He's got 1 goal and 1 assist from two sub appearances.

Amad and Rashford have 0 goals, 0 assists from two starts.

Couple of bits of sloppy play against Fulham but still a big threat and created the winner.

Feel like we'll win. It's coming together under ten hag and Brighton .. don't know how coherent they look under the new coach

We need to stop the Asian guy, if we are to stand any chance.

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

    Amad, Bruno, Garnacho

    Zirkzee

Yeah it should be this lineup but almost certainly gonna be Mount and Rashford

Yeah it should be this lineup but almost certainly gonna be Mount and Rashford

He has to try to get a tune out of Rashford. We all know if he plays to potential he is world class. If he doesn’t spark into action soon, he will be cut but it’s too soon now.

Selection is not about favourites or any other conspiracy.

Neither de ligt or garnacho are match fit enough to be starting

The only way they’ll get match fitness it getting minutes I’d be giving them a start with a view to bringing them off at the 60 minute mark

Also Maguire has done nothing to deserve getting dropped for.

He did well but if nearly all our budget is going on 3 new defenders and the fact we tried to get rid last summer the manager needs to go with his preferred players

Tough for Maguire he did play pretty well but he must have been told he’s not going to be starting when the others are fit.

Personally, I'd drop Mount for Zirkzee and Maguire for De Ligt

I would give Amad and Rashford another game, but not sure how long Rashford survives if his performances do not improve.

Brighton were on fire pre-season and blew away Everton so its going to be a very tough game, would be great if we could bag another 3 points.

Brighton buy so well after selling their best players, at huge profits, mainly to Chelsea. Think they have been the most impressive side so far this first weekend. Massive test for us. A draw would be a great result imo.

Feel like we'll win. It's coming together under ten hag and Brighton .. don't know how coherent they look under the new coach

They were brilliant against Everton at Goodison. That 0-3 win and Villa's win away against West Ham were the games of the weekend in my opinion

What is this supposed to mean?
It means fans act scared of the teams like Brighton and Fulham and it is annoying. The only teams we should ever be concerned about are City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Everybody else we need to be crushing home and away

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

    Amad, Bruno, Garnacho

    Zirkzee

You make it sound like things didn’t go to shit the moment Mount was taken off.

Drop Mount for Zirkzee. Rashford and Amad have done enough to retain places for one more game. Defence as it is.

pleas explain what Rashford has done to retain his place ahead of and in comparison to Garnacho?

There is no way we are keeping a clean sheet here. We were lucky against Fulham to not concede and it was down to their inability rather than our defensive prowess. Brighton will score. It’s a case can we score more than them away from home?

We can’t start without a striker again, but I wouldn’t bet on it. We need to beat these and I have a feeling we will 1-0
Yeah, feck that shit. Zirkzee and De Ligt must start with Brighton

We would need multiple strikers to do that, I think we want to manage the game by putting the striker when we are able to go for the win.

At times their defensive line was incredibly high against Everton. I can see Rashford having success in behind. Garnacho should start as well.

They definitely weren't brilliant, Everton were just really poor.

Everton were energetic but lacked ideas and weren't clinical with the chances presented to them. Brighton were the exact opposite. Welbeck put on a show and led a ruthless and fluid Brighton attack. I thought it was brilliant anyways. We'll need to outperform the Fulham effort to get three points of Brighton away

I doubt ten Hag will bring in De Ligt, especially whilst Maguire is playing the way he is.

He did something similar in his first season with McTominay, who was performing well in the deeper role, which kept Casemiro on the bench for a couple of games.
Yes I agree. Eth has a history of holding his new signings back for a game or two. I think the only signings made under him that started immediately are Eriksen, Antony, and now Mazraoui.

They were brilliant against Everton at Goodison. That 0-3 win and Villa's win away against West Ham were the games of the weekend in my opinion
You watched the game? It was almost all Everton in first half. If they could score Brighton would have been swept away.

Brighton does look dangerous . We should not give them counter opportunities like we gifted to Fulham.

No. The manager should play the best team. If ETH thinks de Ligt is clearly better than Maguire than he should play de Ligt.

I dont want us to drop points because we concede a goal that we might not have conceded with a better player playing instead of Maguire. If the change from Maguire to a better player comes after Maguire made a mistake and points have already been dropped, the change has been made too late.
    Just play all 3

    Zirkzee Amad
    Mount
    Dalot Maino Casemiro Mazrouhi
    Maguire Martinez De Ligt

Just kidding. Sorry guys i always put up a formation like this, just curious how something like that would workout.

A well coached, footballing team vs manchester united. There's only one result here and that's a brighton win. We don't have enough goals in this team and Brighton aren't a team where 1 goal will be enough to beat them.
There’s no way to know this early in the season. I saw their highlights and was worried, still am, but another said they got outplayed first half. (Quoted below)
Watching it back this morning, Everton looked far the better side in the first half. Brighton scored out of nowhere and the game was still pretty even after that. Having seen the scoreline going in I was expecting a mauling.
That’s good to hear, but also not good to hear that they are being clinical. Rather be up against someone who is “better but not as clinical
I don't know why but I am strangely relaxed. We are going to win this.
I am happy for you. I wish i was as well. I was happy for what they were doing considering their structure but the “we are massive” fans and also the smack talk after their begining of season win, Oo it stings. Although i explained to them I’d much rather have that carabao cup win

This will be an open game as it always is against Brighton. We need to make the most of their high line. Rashford will make plenty of runs, we need to pick him out on time.

We will start with the same team we started with against Fulham barring injuries.
