Ten hag has made a terrible terrible mistake by putting all our eggs in this basket. The kid is only 20 with the pressure to save our season. Should have gone for a cheaper decent second option. Jimenez went to Fulham for 5.5m ffs.

Get Rasmus in the team, the new midfielder ETH is so clearly pining for in, Rashford back out on the wing, and we'll be a different team, just a shame we have to lose ground first to get there.

We already did that.

The pressure on him is building with every game. An inexperienced prospect, signed for £70m, is going to have to not only take the most demanding position in the team, but also carry the team for goals.

If we were unable to sign another experienced striker then we should have signed a new right winger instead.

I really feel for this guy. Those 20 year old shoulders are going to feel some pressure ahead because of the massive hole we've left ourselves at the number 9 position over the last 10 years.

Enjoy the time out while it lasts...

What's worrying is that fans are expecting him to come in and change everything for us, but unfortunately it won't happen. We need to make tweaks in other areas for Hojlund to be a success.

I suspect Greenwood was the other egg in the basket. Terrible planning all round.

Feel bad for him, but there you go.

I personally think he will be a success here, but maybe not necessarily under ETH. He will probably play him on the right wing.

Everything is up in the air with Greenwood, but then we have Amad, who I expect to feature quite a bit this season, especially if Antony continues to put in performances such as today.

Says everything about the clowns if true. Even if you take aside the moral issue, he hasn’t kicked a ball in almost 2 years.

He's seen enough of McFred, so he clearly needs two.

He’s after a midfielder to come here to be a substitute. A midfielder who will cost between 20m and 30m.

I fear expectations need to be managed, we will get nothing more than a bit of depth unless he changes his philosophy, whatever the feck it actually is.

Amad is talented but I think we need more experience in the front line, so we should have signed one on the right winger if we could not get someone for striker.

Going to be pretty rough going with a prospect for a striker along with an average right winger, and a prospect for a back up.

I mean you could blame EtH for only buying a 20 year old CF.

Or you could blame the club and the Glazers for only giving him a 20 year old CF.

Depends how you want to look at it.

ETH knew we dont have 500m to spend. He could have bought a midfielder and a backup striker instead of his primary target Mason Mount. The 80m Antony last season could have been spent better as well, maybe on a winger who is actually good.

The club is at fault for giving him the full control though.

No issues with buying a 20yr old striker. The issue is he should been much more smarter than that and should have gone for a cheaper option too. As i said someone like Jimenez who is clearly good enough to lead the line and take off the burden was available for peanuts.

He's asked to being our savior right now, which is not fair to him. We should have signed another (experienced) striker in addition.

For me a manager has to be able to fail, nobody has a 100% success rate with transfers.

A lot is made of his first choice Mount. It’s only 2 games in and you can see a potion of fans will beat him with that stick regardless.

Sadly the Glazers are parasites…the manager got one CF, zero chance they would give him a second.

Of course, you cannot fail every year with a 60m or 80m transfer plus eventually more. Not good enough.

Pretty sure we could have managed £5.5m if he had pushed but I doubt he had any plans to sign a cheaper alternative. He genuinely sees Rashford as that alternative.

There's going to be so much pressure on this young lad to come in and save us and, realistically, that's not going to happen. I can see patience wearing thin if he doesn't hit the ground running, and that would be very unfair on him.

There is no way he continues with Mount, Bruno, and Casemiro for much longer, the midfielder who comes in will be starting, whether that means Mount still in the team or on bench I don't know, but there we aren't playing with this midfield in most games this season.

And has never looked like a natural number 9 in his time as a senior player. Similar to Rashford, he always looked best with the game in front of him taking on a man usually from the right wing.

Realistically, Rasmus shouldn't need to come in and score a hatful of goals to be a team asset.

Someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play would be good. That seems well within his abilities for a start.

A shame we didn’t bring in both Rasmus and Harry. The pressure on the boy will be immense.

Would it have been insane to spend that much on two players? What’s the price of missing out on top four?

Hope the lad's made of granite mentally speaking because God knows the pressure that's going to be piled on him the moment he steps on the pitch.

If that is to be the case then the profile of midfielder we target would need to be different, otherwise will just be more disappointment. If we are buying someone to come in and be a first XI regular, then that player shouldn’t be a 20m journeyman of the profile of a backup DM.

We should have just kept Fred, who is a better CM than Mount.

The fanbase are gonna put ridiculous pressure on this lad. He's not the finished article. People thinking he's gonna carry our goal threat this season will be disappointed.

Jimenez scored 3 goals last season. 6 the season before. Buying players that aren't good enough isn't going to help us. They're just bodies that we'll be unable to sell when they have proven to be useless.
