Don’t get what’s been pushed in here at all. Why do you all think the onus is on this kid to score goals and not Rashford and Bruno once they have someone running the line and channels for them? If the kid comes in and drags back lines all over the place, enabling the rest of the attack to take up threatening positions, or work their best angles for shots, he will, and should be praised to high heaven.
Everyone knows his story; he isn’t coming here as some hotshot sniper primed for 25 league goals a season, but he can come in and immediately benefit the team if he’s a determined presser, smart mover and enough of a distraction to optimise others - don’t see why the pressure would be on him and not our proven goalscorers to then step up once all in their preferred positions with a decoy to work behind/around. He’s got the potential to be what Saha was to the ‘06 team, not Ruud, so why isn’t it being seen in that manner more than he himself taking on the burden of scoring the goals?
He’s not a patch on Saha in the air or with hold up, but if he can give us the other things Saha provided his teammates, his first season would surely be seen as a resounding success.
