Zlatan Ibrahimovic

You wouldn't, though.

Barcelona won't rely on Ibrahimovic for their goals in the Champions League knockout stages, because they don't have to.

Neither would we, if he was here.

Just because Barcelona had a goal glut this season doesnt mean they will next season. Like Ronaldo last season - Messi probably wont get as many, perhaps the same with Henry.

Maybe they could have won the trophy this season with Ibrahimovic playing and no Eto'o but we dont know what troubles await them next season.

Chances are they wont score the same amount of goals from the wings and so central strikers who arent going to score in the knockout stages might not be the best idea if they want to go a step further than us and defend the trophy successfully next season.

It's as if Zlatan will never score goals in the knockout stages for you or isn't good enough to score them.
Player who are far worse than him have scored at that level

He lives up to his reputation though, he's been the best player in Italy for at least the last 2 seasons and by really far too

It just so happens to be 2 seasons where Serie A is clearly the 3rd best league. And he only proved himself in that league - as per normal he failed to prove himself on the european stage.

His reputation is as one of the best players in the world. Someone who could best Ronaldo and Messi and win the ballon d'or. Some say the best player in the world.

He hasn't come close to proving he's worthy of that praise though. Not outside of Italy - despite being given lots of chances to.

They are when they're as talented as Ibrahimovic.

And who knows, they might score more goals from the wings next year, with them bringing in a more creative player to play alongside.

That's assuming Eto'o does leave and Ibrahimovic does come in, which I'm not so sure about.

These people are wrong and just because they are it should make others underrate Zlatan

0 goals in 16 matches over 7 seasons from a striker just four months away from their 28th birthday suggests that if he ever does come good and scores a goal in the knockout stages, it wont be one of many.

The man is quite clearly an enigma when it comes to performing in the knockout stages. He has the talent to, he should be able to, but he never does.

Who is under rating him?

I said he hasnt lived up to the repuation he enjoys in Italy. You're agreeing that he hasnt lived up to it. But somehow I'm under rating him and you're not?

Sure, and maybe we'll buy Ribery to replace Ronaldo and he'll score 41 goals.

Its highly unlikely even if its possible.

Most likely there will be a come-down for Barcelona next year and they'll be a bit more human. Playing the way they have this season is bound to take a bit out of them for next season, not least because they just won the treble and they wont have quite as much hunger next season.

Here

These people are wrong

Gosh  You are agreeing that those many in Italy who believe he is as good as Ronaldo and Messi, possibly the best player in the world, are wrong - because he cant live up to that reputation right now.

Admittedly its a huge reputation, but I've never said he isnt a very good footballer who has the potential to be a great footballer. So how am I under rating him exactly?

Once again where ?

I'm not going to keep quoting you, to you Kouroux. If you cant see where you've said that the people who rate him so highly (perhaps best player in the world) in Italy are "wrong" to do that, then there's no point me responding to you here.

Let me clear it up for you, Zlatan is the best player in Italy but not on the same level of Messi (therefore best in the world)and people who believe that (no matter where they come from) are wrong.

Which is what I said that you said

And yes I'd have Ibrahimovic in the top 5 strikers in world football. But he really, really does need to start scoring in the last 16.

Hmm.

No, what I was saying was that if they brought in a more creative player, the players surrounding him might score more goals, even though he'll score less than the player he's replacing.

That would apply to Ribery-Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic-Eto'o.

No idea why you've talked about Ribery scoring 41 goals.

 Witty fecker isn't he? Completely arrogant personality, head up his own arse and all, but I wouldn't say no to having him in the team

Here are some more Zlatan gems.

About the final rounds of Eredivisie, with Ajax in a comfortable lead. (April 2004)

Zlatan: "According to my calculations it is possible to lose nine points in only three games."

Zlatan about the rumour that he bought a super-Porsche. (Aftonbladet, Nov 28, 2002)
- Absolutely not. I have ordered a plane. It is much faster.

What would you name your son? (Chat on Ajax.nl, Aug 26, 2002)
- Zlatan jr.

On humbleness:
"I am like (Muhammad) Ali. When he said he would knock someone out in the fourth round, he did it."

About growing up after five months with Ajax:
"You can't be a clown all the time."

Zlatan aged 18 to Malmö FF coach Michael Andersson during practice:
"Do you think that you are my mother?"

Zlatan after the game against NAC where the Swede scored a wonder goal (August 2004)
Zlatan: "There's only one Zlatan"

Answer to the question "What are you NOT going to say when you meet your teammates in Ajax for the first time?":
"I am Zlatan, who the hell are you?"

Rooney doesnt have the talent of Ibra

That is the single biggest pile of bullshit I've ever, ever seen on this forum

I mean Rooney is the younger player, Rooney is the one with the trophies, Rooney is the one who's been at arguably the best club in the world over the last few years and been a central reason as to why that is...

That has nothing to do with him having as much natural talent as Zlatan. Not even Cristiano Ronaldo has as much natural talent as Zlatan. You seem to think Rooney is being called shit.

Find something more intelligent to say. Because that was bad even for your standards

and to prove my earlier point. Look at Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Or Zizou and Ronaldinho.

Prove what point?

Presumably if Zlatan has more 'natural talent' than Ronaldo, it means he's a shite professional who hasn't worked hard enough on his game and has been overtaken by a fellow professional with a lesser gift

That or you're just spouting meaningless bullshit. Natural talent my arse, you don't even know what you're on about

That's part of it obviously. The same way Zidane did more with his talent than Ronaldinho ever has. Or a Sir Bobby Charlton did more with his talent then Best ever did.

But isn't the whole story. Some players always do more with their talent than others. Keane is a great example. A person like Vieira had more talent than him but wasn't the better player. Yet he was as dedicated a proffesional. Same as Scholes and Giggs.

That or you're just spouting meaningless bullshit. Natural talent my arse, you don't even know what you're on about
Typical you. Always wishing some one is being stupid, simply because they don't see things the way you do.

Both Rooney and Ronaldo are more talented than Ibrahimovic. Naturally, unnaturally doesn't matter what you call it.

No, you're entitled to think that Zlatan is better than Rooney and Ronaldo. You'd be wrong, but I'm not gunna beat you with a stick about it. I'm just gunna tell you my view on an internet forum

But when you start banging on about 'natural talent' guff, no then you're the one being stupid. Meaningless, daft, empty term, using it to make yourself sound like some kind of authority on the game. Typical Rubberman

No, you're entiled to think that Zlatan is better than Rooney and Ronaldo.
 You're entitled to think that bullshit. You'd also be dead wrong as per usual. I said he had more natural talent than them. I never said any where that he was better than either of them. Because he obviously isn't. But that's something you can never grasp.

 Typical. As usual, resorting to your mindless and childish abuse when you have nothing intelligent to say. How laughable:lol:
