Yeah but when i said club captain in the post you replied to i was obviously referring to Wayne Rooney specifically, Rooney's situation and Keanes back in 2005 are totally different.

Keane's behaviour warranted him getting sacked. Rooney is club captain, England captain, soon to be all time club top scorer, 30 years old not 35, still the biggest draw in terms of marketing, has 3 years left on a massive contract not 6 months and has not done anything that would result in him getting sacked and booted out of the club.

So back to my original point it's highly unlikely United will be booting Wayne Rooney out or giving him ultimatums about playing time. Do you disagree?

I actually think it's a load of crap spouted by the papers to be honest. Quite convinient these stories come out just as he is about to play against the noisy neighbours

Really, really hope that we do not sign him. Would rather we spend the money on a younger player.

I'm actually hoping that we do sign him. For one, I think that he's still a class goalscorer but also secondly, we are shorn of top level experience in the team right now, its important for the kids coming in to the team to have someone to look up to and learn from. Look what impact Cantona had on the kids. Beckham said it often enough that when he saw the effort Cantona was putting in on the training ground, after official training had finished, it inspired them to do the same.

We have enough young strikers
Not doubting his class or ability, but I think he would be the wrong move at this time. Depending on how we play, we may not even need a new striker. We need to sort out the supply line first of all. This is the worst attacking football I have seen in 40 years of watching United. There are games where we do not get a shot on target, because nothing is being created for the strikers.

I don't disagree with that, but I also feel that we need a new focal point. Rooney is not up to it anymore and both Martial and Rashford are young, and could benefit from playing off someone else.
Also need a new winger or creative outlet

Have you watched Ibra much? He is not just a finisher, he is also a creator, also yes we should be focusing money on bringing in creative midfield players so if we can get a very good striker on a free then we should.

Seen him plenty of times. Don't want an over the hill prima donna for 1 or 2 seasons.

Aside from a couple of decent (not great) freekick efforts he's been shite tonight. No effort whatsoever.

I think it really goes to show he should stay in a league which allows him to massage his ego (as with Di Maria). We'd be a laughing stock with him upfront and Rooney behind.

Probably not as funny as Ashley Young upfront and Lingard behind that was comic gold.

Well we aren't going to be in the CL anyway next season most likely so it'll hardly matter that he goes quiet in the knockout phase
Not too good tonight, though everyone at PSG was beyond shite.

Dont get what all the fuss is about. Tonight shown that against a high intensity team, he does feck all. The French league is a piss poor league.

Rips it up in the french league. Track record of being half the player in the CL. Sign him.

He'll score a few stunners and bully some no mark team in the domestic cup final and be great again on here.

I thought PSG still looked a better team than city despite Zlatan and a few others being poor. Still take him on a free though as he has proven himself in more than just the French league and also for country. Plus we are fecking shite at scoring goals.

Funny player, just nowhere near as good as he and a lot of people seem to think he is. He was embarrassing over these two legs, as the key player he should have been able to produce a few moments and there was nothing. He also appears even more sluggish and static than current Rooney and Berbatov.
Same shit every year with him, his constant failings at this stage of the Cl for whatever club he's playing for, the thing is, you know it's gonna happen, but that doesn't stop the pre-hype every single time.
I really hope we aren't considering signing him, it'd be a seriously bad move.

Even if you look past his lack of involvement, the chances he missed in the first leg were just shocking.

Old, lazy and overrated. A transfer like this can only happen in the current circus we are at the moment.

No thanks. When things aren't going his way, he turns into an utter cnut. The number of times he was knowingly caught offside, casually walking back like he's having a stroll in the park once he's been tackled and he made Eliaquim 'brainless' Mangala look like Alessandro Nesta.

Total mercenary, just like the rest of his team mates. We need a player with pace and movement, Zlatan has neither.

Zlatan is obviously a fine fine player who on his day can do remarkable things but he has in my opinion always been overated and I'm not sure he's ever been in the top 5 attacking players in the world. Said it before and I stick with it that a prime Van Persie was a superior striker.

He would drive me insane

When things are going bad he huffs and moans

I think I would hate him even more than berbatov

Looking at him today and numerous other times when the going gets tough, he'd go mad here. I don't think he could handle the difficult period we are going through and probably would be disruptive. We don't need that.

We need players that won't give up. We've got enough soft players as it is.

Apart from Lucas and Rabiot I thought PSG were lifeless as a whole tonight, but Ibra did look worryingly disinterested.

35 goals/14 assists in 35 appearances is over the hill?

Impressive but you have to bear in mind 30 of those goals came in the French league, which is a bit of a joke.

PSG are nearly 30 points ahead of the 2nd placed team who are in turn actually closer to the relegation spots than they are the title.

Personally i doubt he could rack up those numbers in a top league, certainly not in the creativity vacuum that is this current United side anyway.

Paraphrasing Ibra here.....

He said that they played three at the back today while never practicing or playing that way before. Said it went how it went. Wasnt happy with tactics.
