He's been awful recently and needs to be dropped. Rashford hasn't been great out wide but he deserves a chance up front.

Would like to see Rashford up front and Zlatan given a rest for a bit. I thought he'd be a lethal finisher but he's wasted a fair amount of chances already.

Not a matter of resting. He has had enough rest during the international breaks.
Well, then some time on the bench. Put Marcus or Martial up front. Marcus on the right isn't the best thing. I just hope Micki will get some games soon, maybe as soon as Thursday.

Would be a good player of he had Fellaini spirit. Now he's just big and lazy.

He worked his arse off today, right until the final whistle he put pressure on the back four so they had to play long.

Not a spectacular performance by any means, and he should have done better with the header, but if you think our lacklustre attacking display today can be blamed on him you need to watch the game again

The second he got the ball he was crowded by 2-3 players and had very little in terms of support from Pogba/Rash and Young. The two former having absolute stinkers and Young being Young

Will it be easy to drop him? It's all "zlatan time" when he's playing but I wonder if he will react well to a drop. Rashford/Martial deserve a start ahead of him right now.

Terrible.

Thought his all-around play was coming around, but he showed nothing out there.

Puzzled by what he was trying to do with that header. That should've been the moment that won us the match. Yes, it's unfair to rely on him to convert every chance but he has missed a few lately. He's meant to be the big man for the big occasion.

Meh, hard to judge from todays game because he was so isolated. Didn't take a good chance that came his way, but he was also running away from goal a tad.

I'd just like to see him move about more. Seems flat footed all too often.

He has hardly been that if at all.

When the "big man up front" approach works it's fine. But when we create little and he wastes the few chances we do get, it just makes me wish we had a more skillful and pacey forward in his place like Rashford or Martial.

Played Like how Fellaini would playing up front. I have noticed that his alround play is horrendous now. It has been masked by goals and fair enough, that's what a striker has to do, but when he is not scoring it sticks out.

I've been saying this. He's been poor for us. His best peromance has been against Leicester was his best. But what we usually get is him dropping into midfield to get touches because he can barely beat the cb's to the ball. Poor hold up play. Losing 50/50's. Giving away free kicks with late lunges and on top of all that he's not clinical.

I've been calling for Tony upfront, who won't score as many individually as Zlatan but who will do a better job of making the attack function as a whole. We have no focal point in the final third. It's killing us. Players can't play passes into the channel because he isn't going to get there or give it to him to relieve pressure because he can't hold it up.

Needs to be dropped. He's not had one game for us yet where his goal scoring and link up play have been great. Usually it's one or the other. Today it was neither.

Yeah that was the concern. I bet jose was thinking zlatan would knock the ball down to channels where our younger wingfowards would get the ball to counter.

Zlatan hardly does it here. Funny he does better when our team is building up slowly.

You can't really blame Zlatan much over how our system not seeming to work so far. Jose has missed something here.

So f..g slow and what really annoys me is he waits for the ball when someone tries to pass it to him :wenger:

It's worrying that we had Young and Rooney on the wings with a big man up front. I mean it sounds quite amateurish really, and not what I'd expect from Jose.

As an individual performance, it wasn't that bad of a display from him, I'll agree with that.

The big problem however, is that his qualities and weaknesses are very detrimental to the way we set out to play. As I said in the match day thread during half time, after a pretty solid first half, he isn't mobile enough to find space against a tightly crowded defence, and he's nowhere near quick enough to offer anything at all in behind.

When you're sitting back and your wingers are basically playing as secondary full backs, you need a forward who has the pace and movement to cause some trouble up front, and Zlatan doesn't. Which means that we're left with absolutely no threat at all. Realistically the best you can hope for is that he's able to hold the ball up and wait for the runners to advance past him, but especially in the second half Matip and Lovren picked the ball from him quite easily almost every single time he was involved.

What you're left with then is the hope that he shows some individual brilliance, which he hasn't even been close to showing, and at the very least that he's able to make something out of the limited opportunities he's afforded, but unfortunately it's the story of his season so far that he's squandering them. And at that point, surely it would be better to play someone else up front, like say Rashford, who offers something completely different in an attempt to trouble their defence?

It's becoming a serious problem for us. We need match winners up front, and he's not shown anything to indicate that he's up for the task.

I'm a tad surprised that people expect more from him. Scoring goals for PSG is an entirely different ball game. Cavani is scoring for fun now. Coming at 35 in the PL was always going to be a tough experience for Zlatan. He stil can contribute goals but I'd give chance to Rash/Martial.

Well, Rash and martial should be introduced that role if jose have them in his mind slowly this season since he is not as brave/insane as LVG in that kind of taking risks with younger players.

But, problem is we signed this guy for 2 years and he never got subbed even he is 35 and could be seen utterly useless in the way we want to play in some games.

Which is concerning.

If he wasn't the manager's favourite son, he'd either have started the match on the bench, or been substituted before 60 mins were up, because he was such a poor fit for the way the rest of the team was set up. We were crying out for someone central with enough pace to hurt them on the few occasions we had the ball.

Worrying performance in my opinion because he's been like this for a few games now. Really needs to pick it up asap as we need a goal scorer. The stoke performance especially was particularly bad.

His lack of mobility is making him struggle with the pace of the Premiership. 100% shouldn't see a second year at the club.

Cut a frustrated figure today, but he should've scored that cross from Pogba. Disappointing.

It's funny how now people are having a go at him but when I and a few other a couple of weeks ago raised the questions about his overall game contribution we're labelled as haters! I'm not sure why a United fan would hate a United player, I certainly would never.

Young players need to be protected because they'll inevitably make mistakes, will have ups and downs which will shape up their career. Senior players on the other hand, need to criticized for their performances. Because not only they're expected to produce better performances but also they're at a stage of their career where they've zero to very little room for improvements.

It's not about Ibra's missed chances as he's always been like that but more importantly all STs miss chances. What's concerning is his hold-up which for such a big guy is really poor. But my biggest gripe is the number of times he fails to make simple 2-3 yard passes. It's not his ability, it's just carelessness as I've said before. Today in around 20 minutes in the 1st half, he gave the ball away cheaply which luckily bounced off a Liverpool player and fell into his path again. Guess what he did? He miss passed it again even though he'd 2 of our players close to him.

We talk about Rooney's shocking link-up play and rightly so, but Ibra isn't any better in that aspect. His link-up play is very poor for a player of such stature. This is something Jose needs to talk to him. He can't be so careless when he makes those simple passes which in turn put the team in unnecessary pressure.
