Imagine if all those players actually did perform better than him. We'd be unstoppable.

It will be incredibly difficult to replace him. He is absolutely fantastic.

I am not sure who is capable of replacing him. The impact. The leadership. The ability to keep scoring goals.
I think Suarez is the only guy who is capable of having the same impact and for him, you'd be looking in the region of £120M+.
Ronaldo could also do it, but I don't know how much he'd cost.
There are other players like Messi or Neymar, but these guys have never been tested in the EPL, which puts question marks over their ability to have instant impact.
I think we have to change the way we play when he goes. Jose has to alter his profile of what a striker should be. If we are looking for someone in the Ibra, Costa etc mould, we will get stuck. IMO, the way forward is a floating front three. With the three players sharing the scoring responsibility.

One more thing that is great about Ibra's time at Manchester United:

Herrera said of Ibrahimovic to Cadena Ser radio: "He appears at crucial times and we needed him in the 86th minute. He scored the goal that gave us the title.

"I'm asked many times about him, and I don't know what to say anymore. He is 35, he has won things in all the countries he has played in.

"He is competitive, he drills us about winning each game in every training session. He is a winner."

Herrera said without Ibrahimovic's famous character he would not be the same player, adding: "You have to put up with how competitive he is."

I was actually a bit peed off he slowed the attack down and i'm sure plenty along with me
 But it was a smart move. He realised it would be useless to run all the way, since the other players were faster than him and since it was more than one player against him. Some players would run and then realise that they're out of options, but Ibra made the "evaluation" that it would be better to slow down and involve more of his teammates. Brilliant!

Pls can someone post Carraghers analysis of Ibra's 2nd goal from MNF. @GifLord ?

Fantastic analysis which shows how Ibra looks behind his shoulder to spot Southampton centre back step out, and so gently moves onto that space. I had thought that the perfect cross was Herrera's genius, but its actually Ibra who creates a huge bullseye for him to aim for.

Boom, goal!
Can also been seen from VDO above.

It is odd that there's no extension made yet.

Is Napoli the only team he's been linked with?

Really hope he stays at least 1 more season.

He won't leave as he wouldn't be able to get the wages he can here.

It's not as if he's in need of money to be fair. Retirement could be a slim possibility, but I'd like to think he's still hungry to carry on for a few more seasons.

Yes, he doesn't need the money so to speak, but with retirement looming there's really no other place for him to go where he can compete in the CL and still get a weekly wage like he does here. I'd imagine the club will bump him up to 300k after this year's performances.

If United win another trophy then I can see him leaving, going out on a high and so forth,
Retirement? What a waste that would be. He looks like he could play to a high level for many more years

Created more chances than any other player in our team. Incredible. How do the other golden boot competitors compare in terms of creativity?
As I remember it, the only one with similar stats to Ibra is Alexis Sanchez, but I don't remember the exact numbers.

With the formation we play, the focal point he is and the number of games/mins he's played, there's been a lot of talk of us being to reliant on him. While to a certain extent this is true I think we have generally created a hatfull of opportunities for him this season. He actually should be around 5-7 goals better off than he is if we're to be ultra critical. His positioning in the box and sense of anticipation has been great but I'd say his finishing has generally been average. Taking away the free kick on Sunday he's hardly created anything out of the blue and so I wouldn't agree he's irreplaceable come next summer. With martial, miki, mata, pogba and potentially griezman next season there's enough creativity in there to feed the main striker a bucket full of goals. He's done remarkably well coming to the premier league and has bought character, a winning mentality and experience to the team, but I wouldn't be too concerned with replacing him as we have improved our attacking and creative output significantly this season.

Here we go again.

He scored goals other strikers might not score and missed chances other strikers might score. You can't assume that there is a hypothetical striker who would score all the goals Ibra has scored and the chances he missed as well.

He has 26 goals and 6 assists. If he was to score the 7 goals you are mentioning, he would have 33 and 6 (directly involved in 39 goals out of 38 games). It is astounding to me that for you to be happy you want him to be as productive as a Messi and Ronaldo whilst playing for a worse team.

His presence is huge. You can't take him out of a team and slot in any other striker and expect the same impact. He has dragged our sorry asses over the line time and time again. That is not just because he is a great striker but he has the confidence and determination that are hard to teach and extremely hard to replace.

He is slowing us down as you obviously can see in that vid, he should also have scored 35ish goals by now, Rashford would have if he'd been our no 1. And hes only 3d in the team in assists, we should have a striker that assists more. Do not keep saying that the rest of the team should start chipping in with goals though, they shouldnt need to because any other striker would have scored atleast 35 goals with the chances we have created, maybe even 40!

Oh.. And if we had a striker with some pace he would have scored 45 by now.. Also, Ibra is like 45 years old he should give someone younger a chance..

...

I think Ibra is waiting for Beckham to get his team in Miami going, then he'll retire from Europe. I do think he will stall to see if CL is guaranteed before signing extension.

Is that a deliberately humorous post?

His goals are all right but you know he doesnt create something out of the blue.:wenger:
And what about those sitters... he should have more goals..

Seriously.. Some people..

Yeah, some will always have a good moan. I remember those who weren't happy with his signing, predicting he'd struggle to score 5 league goals this season! 5!!!

By reading that, I would think, or well, freaking hope it is!

Not to be a dick but that would've have been the typical reaction of all the posters who moan about wanting a speedy striker; and that's a prime example as to why speed isn't everything and why players like Bergkamp have been amongst the best in the World. The simple reaction there is to run full pelt and try to work with Rashford in what would have been a very difficult attack, slowing it down and letting others join was the much better solution and forced Southampton all over the shop.

Anyone worried he won't be here next season?

I am :nervous:

He's replaceable and will have to be replaced at some stage given his age... although finding a replacement will be hard.

I think Zlatan will stay another year, hopefully by then there's someone in the squad to be his successor but we can't have his height or power. No other striker like him out there, just need to change our style of play.

He's a great professional of course, it's a shame we didn't get him when he was at MIlan.

This may sound ridiculous but, if we manage to qualify to CL, which I believe we will by the way, and then make some quality signings, I think we can challenge CL. I am not saying we will be the favourites but where else he will play as a regular starter like he does with us? As long as Real Madrid does not sign him, this might be the best situation for him.

I don't want to see him go. Really enjoy watching him and really enjoy his presence. I wish we could have signed him years ago. Maybe we should have gone to him instead of Berba.

he wants to win the CL and will goto napoli? yeah seems legit

You've got to be in it to win it. Not saying it's true but if he feels he can only have one last top season in Europe then that probably worths a try, it's not like Real or Bayern are going to come calling/

He's already come out and said the Champions League isn't a priority for him. He left a Champions League side to join us when we had no Champions League. He'll stay because he wants a Premier League title as the chances of that is higher than him joining one of the favourites for the next years Champions League.

Also, if we do get Champions League, with Mourinho and whatever additions he makes in the summer, we're likely to be in the Top 8 favourites after Real/Bayern/Barca

oh come on. if your intention is to win the CL or at least come close, you goto a team that could win it. Its like wanting to win the PL and going to arsenal.

Yeah, Alexis has been carrying Arsenals attack just as much as Zlatan has for us.

He's scored two more than Zlatan (17), assisted double the amount of Zlatan and the nearest Arsenal player (8), and is just below Ozil in chances created but has still created more than Zlatan. Incredible, really.
