This thread made me depressed. I think I'll avoid it. Cafe is great sometimes. We win 3:0 and it gets you depressed.

23 goals, 7 assists, 35 games. Our best player in years. Not as good as he once was, but that is an excellent return. He's the least of our problems.

Anybody complaining really has to tell me where all these goals are going to come from if he's not playing.

He drags defenders all over the place, he's a physical presence, creates a lot of chances, and has scored more than half our goals.

You would think that people really believed that if Rashford or Rooney were starting in his place that we'd be better off.

A player who chose to come here, to play in the Europa League, when he could have signed for almost anybody.

Imagine, imagine just for a second, that he plays himself into form.

There are some strange people in here. Zlatan's great and has been great throughout the season.

He scored 3 goals and you said you would give him cred when he deserve it. I defend him very often yes, but mostly when people give him abuse without reason. I don't dislike any of our players and you will see me defend Fellaini too like in his thread tonight but of course that wasn't popular either.

Holly shiit go back and check my comments on him when he performed well, credit always given.

Go back and check your comments when his shiit, never an ounce of criticism.

First goal, dive and the sloppiest free kick ever.

2nd goal, props for that, very good positioning and killer instinct.

3rd goal, dive penalty.

As i said we're lucky he was lucky tonight.

I guess my issues with Zlatan probably just lie with the lack of pace
If he was a mercenary he would have went to China and not come to United.

I guess spending 4-5 years in PSG adds to the mercenary image as well.
I would actually like someone to list all of his so called missed sitters, preferably with a video so everyone can decide. What do you count as a sitter? What does count as a goalkeeper doing a great save and the striker not missing a "sitter"?

And later I would like the same person or someone else to make a list of these missed "sitters" from the other top goalscorers so we can compare. After that we can all see if Ibra really is that bad with these "sitters"...
I'm not looking to sit and criticise here but just off the top of my head: miss against City, 2 really easy chances against Stoke, couple of really easy chances (including the last mintue one) vs Burnley. There have been a lot more where you'd really have expected him to score but I'm not going to sit down and find every single easy chance he's missed.

One less than Lewandowski has this season, and there's a thread in the FF debating whether or not he's the best striker in the world. On a free transfer as well.

Well, to be fair so was Lewandowski, but you get the point.
I'm going to be a C*** here. Lewa is scoring more goals in the champions league than Zlatan in the Europa. I value a CL scorers much more. thats just me

Ruud would get 40 goals a season easily in this team
Christ, Ruud in this team would have peak Messi/Ronaldo/Larsson at Celtic type goal stats. He was so clinical it was phenomenal. More limited than Henry, obviously, but my god he was lethal in the box.

Someone post a gif of where he slipped on his arse. Should cheer up the haters.

You didnt get the memo. We need a striker who complements us more. Get it?

What exactly is he complementing currently? Martial who had all of 17 goals last year as the main man? Mkhi who has been good, but hasn't exactly been clinical in front of goal and skied a chance against Leicester that people would be moaning about Zlatan missing in this thread for weeks? Rashford who hasn't been putting away chances this season and is coping with being a known quantity? Mata who for all his brilliance has also missed sitters this season?

If we had like Bale and Ronaldo or Messi and Suarez or a true pair of in their prime goal scoring attacking wingers I would understand the argument, but we don't have that right now. For the time being Zlatan is the best stop gap solution we could hope for until we improve our attack further through development of players on the roster or in the transfer market.

Yes that is how a player should be rated. You are spot on. Feck qualifications, it is all about how long you stay at one place.
Comical ahaha if you don't my opinion on him and on players loyalty and on hoping from rival club to another rival club, here's an idea for your - don't read it.

You can have an opinion of your own you know, it's free.

Fecking hell that is great. How anyone can look at that and complain is beyond me.

I guess spending 4-5 years in PSG adds to the mercenary image as well.
I get that at one level, given the French league is not the most competitive, but who else was really in for him after Barca? (Genuine question, I have no idea). If you look at it a different way, they had a chance to win the Champion's League, using the oil money, he got paid shedloads and living in Paris rather than say Manchester or Liverpool is probably infinitely preferable to most foreigners tbf.

Well if he keeps going forward like this he will get like 35-40 goals on him. What are our standards from a striker? 50-60 goals a season? Its very hard for one player reaching thoose numbers.

He had 50 last year - so even if we consider the lesser defense quality in France, he should still be able to get 30 in England. At this rate, he may wind up with 30 by mid Feb, so at that point 40 may be possible, although I doubt he will reach Ronny's 42 or Ruud's 44.

Anyway no more posts here for the night. I think he's been a great acquisition for us and a major reason we're in a position to win anything. I guess the point I'm trying to make is how Ruud being replaced by the inferior Saha helped us play better as a team and go to the next level, I think this current attack is also capable of reaching great heights. It's not a criticism or slight on Zlatan. I guess I just want to see us play with even more pace upfront. I've never wanted Muller here and I don't think I'd want Lewa either to replace Zlatan. Maybe it's me being stupid but after years of not any real pace upfront, I just guess I want to see how good a counter attacking team we could be under Jose with some blistering pace upfront.

It's generally a fun thread without the contrarian agenda posters.
It usually is. But I'll avoid not to use ignore option cause maybe some of the posters I want to use it on are usually good posters. :D

I was being sarcastic..

You can have an opinion of your own you know, it's free.

Except yours isn't an opinion. It is a laughable biased, agenda-driven, hatred that makes you look silly.

I'm sure you must have a great striker on FIFA/FM, who is pacey, strong, tall, scores every chance he gets and has been with the club you've been managing for 15 years. Congrats.

Real life is a bit different. Chances are missed sometimes and a striker with 23 goals and 7 assists in 35 games is a fecking great striker. Your opinion on that doesn't matter because it is a quantifiable fact.

Scores a hat trick yet people still try to find fault :wenger:.

Probably the same people who lapped up any contribution from Rooney to try and claim he was still a top player.

Zlatan has shown us exactly what we've been missing the last two seasons.

He's done brilliantly here even if his overall game has been patchy at times. Once he's scoring everything else takes a backseat in my eyes.

This. Looks like he has a personal agenda against Zlatan. Maybe our serbian friend doens't appreciate the half bosnian, half croatian scoring goals for United.

Please correct me if I am wrong...maybe I don't understand football.
I have a few questions:
1, Isn't the main aim of the game to score goals?
2, Isn't that why Ibra was brought in?
3, Isn't that what he is doing?

:lol::lol::lol:

And agenda is?

I don't even play FIFA, haven't played it since that hunchback '98 edition.

True, i'm just saying for all the stick he seems to get in here for not doing enough for the team, a pure number 9 like Lewandowski is lauded despite not being far in front.

Fellaigol

That's the thing, i don't hate him. I don't rate him tho, because I've always considered him to be a mercenary. His switch from Juve to Inter, than ditching Inter to join Barca and subsequent move to Milan and than money move to PSG.

Can you honestly say he was the best man on the pitch tonight?

But leaving Juventus after Calciopoli just when he was starting to be world class wasn't a strange move (don't compare with Buffon, Del Piero since they are Italian and have a different connection to the team). Who wouldn't want to join Barcelona? Milan was the only club that wanted him - should he play in a bad league/club (MLS, Qatar etc) just out of respect for Inter? He didn't want to leave Milan but when they wanted to sell him why shouldn't he join PSG? They wanted to build the team around him.

It's not fair calling him a mercenary when he's from Sweden. By your logic he should have stayed his entire career at Malmö since he the club has a special place in his heart. He just can't have the same "connection" to the teams like the "natives". Those that never leave are already at a big club and some of them has been at the clubs since their youths - Del Piero, Totti, De Rossi, Scholes and the list goes on. Besides, most Italian clubs already switch players between one another - Inter and Milan do this constantly. Ronaldo (Luis Nazario de Lima), Seedorf, Crespo, Pirlo, Vieri. Edgar Davids has played for those two and also Juventus, the same with Patrick Vieira, Roberto Baggio and Giuseppe Meazza. Like I said, normal in Italy.

So negative opinion isn't an opinion?:lol::lol:

Until you tell me how 23 goals and 7 assists from 35 games is not enough to be considered good going, you can put all the smileys in the world and the only joke in here will still be your posts.

Who's being called a hater apart from fracture who's given Zlatan abuse after abuse in this thread? He deserves it if that was meant at me.

Mate look at the posts. There's loads reacting as if Zlatan has been slaughtered tonight. I've really not seen anything particularly wrong.

At worst a few have pointed out what you just said, that he was poor apart from the goals. Somebody put me on ignore(Don't know how I'll cope without a complete stranger reading my posts) for pretty much the same thing. Hysterical stuff.

Edit: It wasn't meant at you.

Be a dear and quote me those messages of mine in which im saying he isn't having a nice stats?

Also be a dear and tell me how many clearcut chances did he miss which would have seen us even higher up the table?
