I really dont understand people wanting him subbed off. He should play as much as possible. He is clearly good at managing himself..

His hold up play has been fantastic. Created several chances. Been a bit unlucky himself infront of goal but overall very good contribution today.

haha i almost feel sorry for him today. obviously not his day but he still contributed to a goal.

People seem stunned that a 35 year old who general gets a goal every other week cruisers through a game where we've been comfortable from the opening minute. People using words like "disgraceful" are fecking laughable.

What? He's been crap, that's why we want him taken off.
He is still offering more than anyone else can up top. He also brings others into play better than anyone in that position.

People want a change just for the sake of it. Rashford is better from the left. Rooney is rubbish. Our current game works well with a target man/someone up front. He is the only real option we have.

And its not just that, he hasnt been that bad.

Agreed. It doesn't take much for the muppets to spring into action here.

Frustrating today overall, hopefully he realizes that he needs to step it up again even if he gets a goal or assist here and there.
Not good enough.

Yes. And that's why I defend him more than I should really. I think it's very stupid to call him lazy, disgraceful, fraud and words like that we have seen in this thread. Same in the Pogba thread when so many have a go at him when he's having a bad game.

I know people like Fracture will have a go at me because I defend him all the time, but let it be then. He's 35 and played most minutes in our season so far after De Gea.

If his performance is crap, I'm not sure what to call your assessment of him. Is that seriously your assessment? That he has been crap?

Did you happen to fall asleep when he was pulling defenders out, holding up the play, putting others in great positions, creating chances, and assisting a goal?

Don't even bother :wenger:

He had a few good build up plays and passes but just like with his finishing chances, he wasted shit load of good passes/build up plays too.

People will bring up his 20 goals this season but he generally wastes a lot of things.

What is this stupid obsession with little flicks? He had the easiest headed goal inside the 6 yard box and went for a stupid flick.

Find it hard to understand what he does that makes him undroppable, particularly when the other forwards get hooked off at the drop of a hat. Very much a poor man's rvn
Holding up play, which we need when holding on to a lead.

It's interesting to see how some people describe players. It's the same with Rooney who is called names or gets some seriously condescending remarks even when he's being credited for doing something good. Fellaini is another of course.

I get that Zlatan is a bit of a marmite player but the bitterness from some people is pretty sad.

It tends to be Martial fanboys who are a bit butthurt he's getting game time ahead of him, that overreact.

Could have had a hatrick. Very wasteful in front of goal, particularly with his headed chances.
Oh well, at least the attacking unit functioned well today with him.

I agree with regards to some of the language that's used. Stuff like "disgraceful" is way over the top. I've brought it up with a few different posters.

However it's not reserved just for Zlatan. Every player gets the same treatment.

Thought he was good, not great. Can't look past the fact that he was very much involved in both goals, and generally creates so many opportunities. Want him to score though, I crave the golden boot for him!

Not really, Herrera is a good example.

He's not clinical, especially at old Trafford. His build up play is good at times but then wasteful at other times. He's infuriating to watch at times. His goalscoring record has been good this season but look at the service he gets. He's always on the 90 minutes too regardless of form. I think we really need to buy a good finisher in the summer. He should be used for certain games next year and fazed out. I think Zlatan is a great player but needs too many chances. Can you imagine if we had kane or Costa where we would be?

His finishing wasn't up to scratch today but I thought his general play was good. Nice assist for the Martial goal.

"Poor man's rvn" and "disgraceful". Some brilliant analyses as always in this place. Cant believe some of you aren't coaches or at the very least pundits.

When he's off, he's off. A really hard performance to watch and hopefully not many more to come.

Edit: Is there a stat that shows the amount of times he gave the ball in this match alone somewhere? Just interested to see it in perspective.

I thought second half was much better. He wasn't as lazy as the first half.

His hold up play was good in spells today but his finishing was off and the lack of mobility makes it hard to really pressurize the CB's, thankfully the movement from the 3 M's was very good.

Wished he'd attack the box a few more times with the quality of service coming in from Martial, Valencia and Blind but his hold up play alone is worth playing him. He brings everyone else into the game beautifully.

Most strikers waste a lot of things. It's the most difficult position on the pitch to not be wasteful. At the end of the day he's been one of the best attackers in the league by any metric.

I wanted to talk about how he wasted some of the easy passes by causally passing or underhitting it with almost no pressure.

He is still a very good player on his days. But, he can be very wasteful with everything. In games like this, it is ok.

In tight games, not so much. Probably, it is how he got big game bottler title back in the day.

Ohh lord there won't be enough Xanax and Valium in the whole world to help them Zlatan fanboys when he finally decides to leave us.

I'm a big fan but he wasn't good today. Surprised Rooney or rashford didn't get a cameo up top.
