Can't claim to know much about him but I am loving the reaction of a large chunk of Liverpool supporters. When they were linked with him in January, he was a fantastic player and really going to improve them. Now he is linked with us, he is suddenly a woeful footballer and will be a laughing stock.
And how many of his games have you seen exactly. I don't think he is that better. Actually his is very much like Young before MU. I could say even a bit worse cause Young at 24 was playing in a top league, ukraine's league is not even middle-class like Holland's, Portugal's. It could be higher in UEFA rating system, but that's just because they have strong top teams, and apart from these 5-6 good clubs, there are nothing there really.

How many exactly? 4? 5? I doubt it's more. You don't know how he plays in a league that is 85% of the time. You just probably seen him in two (or three, the Kiev game was so dull i hardly remember anything about it) matches against England. He played well there, well Young also had 3-4 great matches during his last Villa season. He even had a few good matches for England.
I've been quite sceptical regarding quite afew players we've been linked with recently but Konoplyanka is exactly the kind of signing that I feel would help get us back to competing with the best in the league.
Konoplyanka has very good technique to go along with his searing pace and very good dribbling. He would be an absolute brilliant signing that would scare the living day-lights out of opposition defenders.

I have to admit this would be such an underwhelming signing when we had previously been linked with Reus. Is this the non-CL factor coming home to roost?
I think that the fact that Konoplyanka is an actual winger plays an important part, with Reus, who is unattainable, you have an inside forward.
If we sign him mate, you and a lot of other people who are sceptical will be believers. He would be devastating on the wing for us.
Rues was never coming so it shouldnt really mater.
I hope so. To be honest, I think the fact that Liverpool were after him pre-CL qualification also puts me off - like we are now shopping in that market now, one or two tiers below the top
I understand where you're coming from, but when Liverpool were after him in the last transfer window I was praying the move would break down. Konoplyanka is a fantastic talent who in my opinion would make us much more menacing out wide than we're right now, we're crying out for a player of his ilk on the wing.
£12m seems like a bargain in todays market, id have him for that. He's looked alright when I've seen him he can dribble and he's got a decent shot, he'd be a upgrade on Young, Valencia and Nani anyway.
I think you're giving Champions League football too much importance in this instance.
There are some players who go under the radar (Modric being a great example).
Not to say this guy is potentially at Modric-level. I personally think he'd look quite average here over a season.
But just because other top teams aren't reported to be interested (Arsenal have been actually) doesn't mean too much.

Excellent buy at 12M No hes not the answer to our winger problems, he seems to fall on his arse more than do anything productive but LVG can improve him and at less than Zaha we cant scoff. Quality signing if true, would add great depth, I would like to see us go in for a world class winger.
Konoplyanka is on the cusp of being world class just needs the stage. He has shown against the very best defences including Germany that he can perform against the very best.
Actually shit, I just saw some highlights from when Ukraine played England and I remember saying to my dad "Their number 10 is absolutely brilliant and tearing us a new one, I hope were watching" I had no idea it was THIS guy. He made Walker look like a fool and hes no slouch then we tried doubling up with Gerrard on him as well as Walker but he couldnt handle it so Lampard switched to marking him which was better but he soon gave up and Cahill was on him who seemed to resort to hacking his legs down.

I don't know how you rate blaszczykowski, but in term of level they are in the same bracket not world class but very good players.

Sorry, he is a very good player who likes taking the space, who is very good ball in feet, hug the touchline, can run along the line or come inside.He is a Robben-lite in term of style.
