Yevhen Konoplyanka

Ok, in this interview journalist asked him "Would you like to play for United without CL or for Dnipro without CL?" - and he answered "Probably I would stay. But who knows what the future holds".
I don't think people yet fully realise the implications of not being in the CL in terms of getting the players in. It's a massive factor for players. Look how Liverpool struggled to get top players, with the exception of Suarez (discipline issues)

Seems it was United without CL, or Dnipro with CL.

Enough to make scousers that laughed look silly.

Completely agree. Didn't know that he had such a poor mindset. Really sounds like Arshavin/Zhrikov II

Nonsense. There's a large Russian and Ukranian ex-pat community in London and there's probably barely a single person from either of those countries in Manchester or Liverpool. Totally understandable that he would prefer to move there.

Have you ever even been to Manchester? I was talking to a recent Ukrainian immigrant at work just this morning. My brother's ex girlfriend was born in England to Ukranian parents. There are Ukrainian churches all over Greater Manchester. He wants to move to London because it is one of the worlds great cities and a great place to live, well, if you are rich anyway. And he is rich!

I lived in Manchester for 22 years! I gotta be honest, never seen so much as a bliny there at any stage ever

There's no reason to say he'd go to United. He'd look like a git if for some reason transfer fell through.

What he said was fine and diplomatic enough, shows nothing about his mindset.

Depay 12 goals and 8 assists in the dutch Competition at PSV (a team that even had a more horrible season than us, not functioning at all). He is dutch, highly rated by LVG (they will work brilliantly together, communction with RVP and other players will also be beter, he already speaks english whereas with yeheven I seriously doubt that and communiction could be a problem). A player, that excelled this year in a team where it was very difficult to excell in (with beter players around him and a beter coach he could make serious progress). Most importantly he is 20 years old, hasn't reached his top yet, 5 years left of development time (compared to Yehven) this guy I think it is fair to say has the looking of a potential wordclass winger like Robben. A little bit of patience and alot of good guidance and opportunities and he could develop into a fantastic player, couldn't think of a beter coach than LVG to accomplish it aswell.

Rather we spend that £15m on bringing in Depay than on waisting it on a mediocre player that is destined for failure like Yeheven, let him go to Liverpool and let him fail right there, build a wordlcass player ourselves with Depay and together with Januzaj watch us having 2 worldbeaters on the flanks within a couple of years.
I don't even advocate buying Konoplyanka, just had a quick look at his stats. I haven't seen enough of his performances, in fact I've seen about 5-10, to form an opinion one way or another.

No, it was "MU or Dnipro in Europa league". That is assuming they lose the qualification round.

Interview posted on previous page says "...stay with Dnipro and playing in Champions League."

"---или остаться в Днепре и сыграть в Лиге чемпионов---"

It would be kinda insulting and awkward to ask him about scenario where they lose the qualifications.

Well on the official page of the news outlet, that is cited by their site, it says:
"or Dnipro in Europa League":

Although it's a possibility that the player actually meant Champions League. Maybe reporter just got it mixed up, or maybe editor did.

It makes little sense that they said Europa League, as first, as I said, it would be insulting, and second, you have Konoplyanka in next sentence saying he'll cheer on Dnipro in Champions League if he does gets transferred.

Yet, it's exactly what has been said. I speak russian, so i am sure. It's not a google translate mistake.

And in the other interview, it says Champions League.

I'll give them the benefit of a doubt that they do have some common sense, and believe it really was CL what was said.

Liverpool have been struggling to get top players for years, in in CL years. Carroll for 35M? Having LVG as manager is a big plus.

Do one Yevhen, the only thing that you have going for you is that you are cheap!

With that name, a move to Dortmund is just waiting to happen.

Fcuks sake. Going into pitiful denial over a player like Konoplyanka is just not worth it.

Dripro are in next season's Champions League so I can see him staying one more season with them. Same goes for William Carvalho.

Will probably end up one of those players who's linked and linked for years, but never actually makes that move.

Well top local talents in Ukraine and Russia for example are paid a lot. Many players from Belgium, Holland go to the top leagues to develop and play on a high level, that's true, but it is also true that they earn like 4-5 times more in England at least. So there is also a very strong financial incentive. When you talk about top, rich Ukraine clubs they offer similar wages actually, and considering all the tax stuff, costs of living etc, you can say that it works out even as a slightly better salary sometimes.

Dnipro CEO: "Officially, there's a specific amount for which we don't have the right to not release Konoplyanka" #mufc

Dnipro CEO: "If #mufc offer favorable conditions and agree terms with Konoplyanka and pay us the same compensation, no one can do anything''
