Yann M’Vila

Song
M'Vila
Wilshere

would be an excellent midfield. M'Vila is a very talented midfielder.

Hope it's not true.

Potentially very good.

If he is going for 17mil it would be madness for us not to try and get him.

If this deal is true I'm hearing Song might be on his way out.

We don't need a midfielder, we're very happy with our current squad and M'Vila doesn't represent value.

If this deal is true I'm hearing Song might be on his way out.

He's a very similar player so it'd be like for like replacement. Who'd Song go to though? City could buy him as they've wanted another defensivr/box to box midfielder for a while, so they're probably the best call. Perhaps Real Madrid who'd pair him with Alonso and let either Khedira or Diarra go with the other going to bench.

If this deal is true I'm hearing Song might be on his way out.

Huh? Nonsense. He's been fantastic for Arsenal and has set up loads of RVP's goals. Song - M'Vila - Arteta will be their #1 midfield, if the rumours about Wilshere are true.

Fletcher and Anderson(again) will be like new signings

Also, Tunnicliffe, Petrucci and Pogba will be huge in the future and we cannot harm their development by having good midfielders.

If this deal is true I'm hearing Song might be on his way out.

What really? I like others was going to say a midfield of M'Vlia, Song and Wilshere (or Arteta if the Wilshere is still injured) has the look one of the best midfields in the league.

I swear with Arsenal it always feels like one step forward and then one step back.

feck sake, can you idiots wait till the transfer window is closed before you complain about how shite we are.

Arsenal have lost 10 league games this year. They're miles behind us. M'vila won't change that, but good luck to Arsenal.

We might sign about 20 midfielders this summer, stop getting worried because of one other signing.

Yeah I am. Arteta is a good player but I think M'Vila is a better fit for them than him. It'll free Wilshire up to run riot. He's potentially a lot better than Song too in the future. He's an excellent signing for them. Would've been my 2nd choice to get here after Martinez. In fact we need a player like him more than Arsenal do, funnily enough.

Anyway, there's still nothing concrete in this is there?

Julien Laurens, a French journo on Twitter reckons the deal is "99% done. 22 million euros, 4 years." and that he rejected Inter. Am I right in saying Wiltord is still their highest transfer fee paid? Or is it Arshavin?

Song plays like a box to box midfielder and we don't need a box to box player. We need someone who will first screen the back four and then get forward when there is a opportunity. We can't defend leads and we can't just keep blaming the back four, the midfield needs to be better and when Arteta hasn't been around imo Song gets himself caught up field far too often
when he should be staying back as Ramsay or Rosicky aren't really defensive players at all.

But his job is to defend not to set up goals. It is like having a ropey CB and then pointing out he has scored 10 goals in a season as justification for his place in the team. Song for all his qualities going forward simply hasn't been good enough as a DM for us, so if this rumour is true it is a step in the right direction.

What rumours about Jack are you hearing?

There were rumours last summer about Song maybe leave and I've heard the same again this time. I don't think it would be a step back to bring M'Vila in, have been crying out for a player like him. Obviously would like to keep Song but if he wants to leave anyway then we are doing the right thing.

I should say my preferred option is of course holding onto Song as well as you can never have enough options and having him with M'Vila might come in handy for tricky away days in particular!

How do you rate Wilshere compared to Song? I think Song has been one of your best players this season.

A bit like Vermaelen then! Could see Song fitting in pretty nicely at Madrid, he's certainly an upgrade on Khedira.

Not going to get too carried away with this one, not really any solid sources behind this one but would be a good addition if true

What is your opinion on him and the season he has had? Desailly seems to think he might become better than Vieira!

Give them a better chance to find a replacement (if they haven't already and want to seal that deal before the euros) and also if we are prepared to get close to their valuation then it could back fire if he doesn't have a great Euros. A defensive midfielder's value is probably not likely to sky rocket after a good tournament

Desailly is always enthusiastic about youngsters but I would take his words with caution.M'Vila has a very good potential, one of the best midfield talent France has developed in recent years.
He needs to leave his very inconsistent club of Rennes, he'd be a good buy for whoever buys because he's already good and he's so young

If he really goes to Arsenal they have a great midfield selection to chose from. Arteta, Song, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky and now M'Villa almost seams a bit much for 3 spots.

I wonder if we were in for him. If not it might raise the question "why the hell not?"

I'm still a bit cautious as nothing more official is out so I don't want to get my hopes up too high just yet.

How do you rate Wilshere compared to Song? I think Song has been one of your best players this season.

Much more potential that is for sure. He is a better dribbler and I do think he has a better range of passing and positioning.

A bit like Vermaelen then! Could see Song fitting in pretty nicely at Madrid, he's certainly an upgrade on Khedira.

Vermaelen has had a very ropey second half of the season, first half he was good and his first season he was also very good. Don't know what has got into him since his injury around Feb time

 have you seen him play?

Have you?

I don't think bringing in M'Vila is one step back either. What I did say was that Song leaving and M'Vila coming in means you haven't gone forward and you haven't gone back either. What is clear is that Arsenal needs to improve if it wants to challenge for honours again which means adding to the players already at the club not replacing them.

Why the feck are you watching Rennes football matches?

The same reason I watch La Liga and Bundesliga, because they have players I like to watch. I watch Lille too because I like to see Hazard play.

Also, he has 18 caps for France, I've seen him play for them more than for Lille.

If you haven't seen him play then don't come into the thread making such stupid comments.

For future reference mate, as well as watching United, Lille and Rennes and the Bundesliga, are there any other teams you watch? I'm guessing you've seen Gotze and Kagawa a lot as well, have you got any opinions on Neymar?

Nope, nothing of Neymar other than the little clips of his magic here and there. I've seen the other 2 quite a bit this season cause of Dortmund winning the league therefore being on TV quite a bit, and a few highlight reels of his games for Germany.

Cool.

I see when you've watched Real Madrid, you like Higuain as well

Are you taking the mick?

I'd take him here in a heartbeat. Him and Rooney would be a dream combo. He's wasted at Real.

You've also done well to watch Napoli

Inler would be a very good signing. He's 28 in June though so I couldn't see it happening.

You did mention watching Dortmund, but you left out Athletic:

Yeah pretty much this. I said a while ago that one really good midfielder like Martinez would be enough but given this season I think we need 2, hopefully Kagawa too, and an established full back.

The key is having players capable of playing 4-3-3 effectively again, we don't have that anymore, haven't had it for nearly 2 seasons.

Basically this, though Muniain is probably the most talented of them all. He'll be amazing in a few years.

As well as that, you like Eriksen as well, I wish I could watch more of Ajax, I don't have the time
You never know, his talent is great but I'm not sure he can reach the heights of Messi or Ronnie!

I think him and Sanchez will be dominating Europe in a few years.

But you sell yourself short by not mentioning the premierleague games you've watched. It's a good job we didn't sign Rodwell!

In terms of the position he plays he's not really any different to Jones, who is clearly a better young talent, so I'm not really bothered.

Though I guess he veers more towards the middle of the field than Jones has so far.

I'm just impressed you manage to watch Dortmund, Rennes, Lille, Bayern, Ajax, Napoli, Athletic, Real and Barcelona games, as well as watching games related to United in the prem. Honestly mate, sorry for being sceptical about you posting about up and coming players, I just thought you'd have watched a few youtube clips and then decided he was good.

Slightly annoying signing if they sign him. Think he would be just ideal for us.

What the feck are you on about Twigg?

Actually my Erikssen one is over the top, I've only really seen Ajax properly in the Europa, not sure why I'm mentioning him alongside Sanchez.

I'm being a dick but basically the point I am trying to make is that it's very unlikely anyone on this forum (unless they're French) has watched m Vila enough to know how well he'd do at arsenal.

Each transfer is a gamble yet people are already in this thread making the same old complaints about value etc etc. claiming arsenal are going to har a very good midfield and comparing him to Song.

I just don't get it. I doubt anyone can make their mind up on this guy without FM or FIFA having an effect on how they judge him.

I'm inclined to agree. Unless all a person does with their lives is sit in and watch football matches, then it's very unlikely they have seen enough of these players to make a solid opinion on their ability/potential.

Unless, of course, they play a lot of Football Manager, then that's a different story all together.

He watches alot of football, so what? I watch alot of football when i have the chance, mainly about 4 prem games a weekend, 3 la liga and a couple of others. Dont forget international football.

I expectwe will here there is no value in the market then splurge £25m plus on a Jorge Mendes signing.

We dont seem to have £10m odd for midfielders but have £16m odd for wingers and defenders.

When is the last quality central midfielder Fergie signed?
Don't say Scholes!!

You know Match of The Day? Believe it or not, other leagues have shows like that too fellas! Shocking, right? There's also these things called international matches which are on INSTEAD of the PL and La Liga, sometimes the players play in them too. Oh and this whole 'Champions League' thing that's on midweek that some of Europe's bigger clubs (which some of these players happen to be in) play in.

I'm starting to understand why Twigg doesn't think we need to sign anyone, it's because he hasn't actually ever seen any player outside of Utd play football before.
