Yann M’Vila

Unless he has an awful tournament, I can't see Arsenal getting out the 20m to buy him if he's not completely necessary. As long as France don't fail miserably, his price will go up.

Yes they do, read the conversation back, it's only about 3 posts long.

So Song, M'Villa....

And who gets dropped was the question, Arteta or Jack. Cesc has already answered and thinks it'll be Arteta who I thought was their best midfielder last season.

My bad. But yes, it has to be Arteta if Wilshere's fit. But I'm sure Arteta will get his fair share of games considering Jack's fitness history.

It's hard to take, but Arsenal don't need him as much as we do. In fact, I would happily take any of their midfielders on.

Which points to the ever-present point: they didn't challenge, it was not the midfield lacking, Arsenal don't need to invest there but elsewhere. Defence and a realistic alternative when RVP can't play (last year was not the norm).

I agree.

Looked like needing a player like this but Song seems to have come on a bit. I can't see them spending £20 plus million on a player who may not even be guaranteed a start.

Centrehalf or two and at least one wide player needed to give strength in depth. If they lose RVP another forward to.

Centrehalf or two, then option other than Chamakh when no RvP, then wing depth, then CM.

Maybe look for a CB who can DM for Song, but never spunking 20M+ on another player to protect the back four.

That doesnt mean we're in for m'vila though

RVP

Podolski--------Arteta----------Walcott

Wishere--------M'Vila

Chamakh

Arshavin--------Rosicky----------Gervinho

Ramsey--------Song

If Arshavin was played in the right position, he'd have had a better career here. Ironically, when he was out on loan the position Rosicky played in often would have been ideal for him. He's not a winger, and he's not a centre-forward.

There seems to be a curse on gooners who score 4 against the scouse.

Got injured, with what looked like an ankle injury when making a pass after 4 minutes. He went over his ankle and tried to play on. Was carried off with help from the physios and was crying on the bench.

I expect his chairman is crying too. That's a potential £10m extra he will miss out on if he's not in the Euro 2012 shop window.

Apparently it was a minor twist, Blanc is optimistic about him playing against England but will wait for the doctors' final verdict after a couple of days

Yann M'Vila will remain with the France squad for Euro 2012 after an MRI scan on Sunday revealed he has a "moderately serious" ankle sprain but with "no complications", according to the French Football Federation (FFF).

The 21-year-old holding midfielder, a key member of Laurent Blanc's side, injured himself in the first minute of France's 2-0 friendly win over Serbia on Thursday and had to leave the pitch moments later.

He will travel to Ukraine with the rest of the France squad on Wednesday, although his chances of featuring in the opening Group D game against England in Donetsk on June 11 appear slim.

"The MRI confirmed that it's a moderately serious sprain, without aggravating factors," read an FFF statement.

"It's running its course, there are no complications."

The FFF also said that goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who had injured a toe on his right foot, was fit to play, but an MRI scan on midfielder Blaise Matuidi revealed that he has sustained "a minor tear to his right hamstring".

France complete their Euro 2012 preparations with a friendly game against Estonia in Le Mans on Tuesday evening.

No way that fella would bench song.

Song is not a good defensive minded midfielder. He can play great through balls, but goes forward way too much. I haven't seen much of M'Vila, but if he is box to box, or defensive minded, he will probably be an upgrade.

Song is just a better player than M'Villa at this moment, he will not be benched at Arsenal.

Done deal to Arsenal, apparently. Rennes have confirmed it on the Stock Exchange as it's over £10m.

Martin Lipton
Arsenal signing of Yann M'Vila effectively confirmed by statement from Rennes on French Stock Exchange. So that's Podolski, M'Vila and Giroud, all heading for the Emirates. If anything can persuade Robin Van Persie to stay at the club, surely these statements of intent will. Three big and important signings, which will surely please Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal fans. Major contrast to last summer when it was all about exits. Onus now on RVP to clarify his position

fecking hell!

If we are signing a cover for Carrick, then it will be Strootman or nothing this summer.

There is no French Stock Exchange. Nor would Rennes have any reason to make a comment to one, if it did exist.

Responsible reporting.

10 mil?

I bet if we were involved it would have been at least double that.

Isn't M'Villa young and very highly rated?

Rather sad we missed out on him, although it doesn't seem as if SAF was truly very interested in him, from what we know.

Am told by both @BFairthorne and the estimable @Darren_Can that M'Vila stock exchange story is hoax. Sorry, all. But will still sign

It's not 10 mil. It says that it was only reported because it was OVER 10 mil.

Next season will be brilliant if this is true though. Hazard, Kagawa and M'vila already

It says it over 10m. Good signing for them if true and is the giroud transfer confirmed as well? Big statement of intent from arsenal if they manage to sign all three of them. Add in RVP resigning and arsenal will be a force next year if they manage to sort out a decent LB.

There isn't even a French stock exchange ;)

This story is false btw......

Lipton has been embarrassing himself a lot recently.

He got torn apart by the female presenter on Chelsea TV (see above video).

He got into a petty twitter spat with Ben Smith of the BBC that made him look like a child.

And now he's fallen for a hoax story about the non-existent French stock exchange.
