Woman accuses Cristiano Ronaldo of rape - CR7 case only

Looks like it was a troll account after all.

Nah, you can't say that. It's disgusting when I see odious attitudes like these in this thread. The fact that she has a history of talking shit or has once more proven to be a troll doesn't mean you shouldn't take this seriously. Calling her a troll is sickening, you are part of the problem, this is why victims don't step forward, etc etc

Maybe advised by lawyers to delete the account.

Maybe hacked.

Maybe bi-polar or otherwise mentally unstable.

Maybe a troll.

None of these outcomes means we should immediately dismiss accusations from women. Nor should we say 'oh he's guilty'. Let them be investigated and verified or rebuffed.

And the blatantly fake voice recordings that she claimed were her proof? This one seems pretty clear imo.
Obviously you should never immediately dismiss it. But there does come a point where you can write it off and I think we've long past it with her.

The problem is that episodes like this one negatively impact the real victims and doesnt help Mayorga's case in the slightest. So they should be called out for their BS because they dont realize the harm they're actually causing by trying to get attention.

feck sake, you lot get too sensitive. It's truly the age of politically correct hypocrites. No offense btw

Thank you.. Suddenly I’m the devil according to HTG!

That's all any of us have said. Just because this appears to have resolved itself quickly is no excuse to dismiss it outright immediately.

They don't, unless one is inclined to dismiss all claims of sexual impropriety immediately.

Each individual case, each accusation should be dealt with on its own merits. If people are keen to dismiss a case outright because of similar fraudulent claims, it’s on them.

It’s not wrong to look into this girl’s past, for instance, and concludes that she isn’t someone you’d want to associate with, going from that to saying she is a troll/bullshitter without any evidence pointing one way or the other is the problematic mindset @HTG was talking about.

But you think it’s perfectly acceptable to laugh at jokes pertaining to a man accused of sexual assaults genitalia, in a thread pertaining to his alleged sexual assault?

Oh Christ. You can laugh at anything you want. About the most serious and inappropriate things as well. Doesn't mean you're condoning rape. There are jokes about 9/11 or Anders Breivik ("What's blond and won't let you camp?"). Some people find them funny, others don't. That doesn't tell you anything about their sentiments towards these tragedies, though.

Grrrrrr.

Anywhere I can listen to these recordings?

I replied to you in a resonable manner then you go ahead and embarrass yourself like this.

Have a nice day!
Claiming I said you were the devil is in no way reasonable.

This was my issue in the first place. Only god and potentially her lawyers know why the account and subsequent tweets were deleted but why on gods earth would you post this shit on twitter? I honestly don't think there could have been anything worse than revealing over the internet that you possibly have incriminating evidence against one of the most popular sporting icons on the planet. It'd have been safer shouting this stuff on the streets.

The internet is a weird place, heck look at us discussing something that (possibly) has no bearing on anyone's lives here - let the law (hopefully) do the right thing and bring about justice. People on reddit make up tragedies about familial deaths to gain karma - it's also very possible, in fact more so than not, that this person made this up to gain followers, likes and retweets such is the state of social media. I didn't hear the voice clip but if it is "fake news" then I'm not at all surprised. I don't see why any sane human being would post this on the internet? I could be wrong but tagging Ronaldo and making him aware (assuming he's guilty) would give him an advantage in proving her wrong?

In fact this illustrates everything wrong with this sorry excuse of a planet. On one end, you have someone being accused of rape and on the other you have someone seemingly looking for attention over this horrendous situation.

I'd love to know why certain human beings spend so much time and effort constantly - almost automatically on instant, defending a sportsperson they've never met and seem to have an unhealthy obsession for.

It's fascinating to watch from the outside.

This is interesting for me as well, as you said, not just Ronaldo, but for athletes on the whole. I never understand how you can be willing to exert so much effort to defend someone you know nothing about and have never met.

When any negative claim comes up against an athlete, the default position by fans of said athlete is almost always “there’s no way he did it. It’s a lie”

Unless people don't like the athlete for whatever reason, then their default position is the total opposite.

Exactly so. I’m fairly sure if the athlete in question was Diego Costa or Luis Suarez for example, the amount of people going out of their way to try and defend them would be much less.

What a disgrace of a post this is

In a thread about a woman potentially being sexually assaulted, you’ve managed to tell a joke about Anders Brevik and say that there are some people who find jokes about 9/11 funny. You’ve then said that people joking about things like this doesn’t tell anything about their sentiments to the tragedy, despite the fact that they joke about it telling you they think tragedies are fair game to be joked about.

Do you see nothing wrong with that, at all?

It was her legit page. Blue tick verified and all. Not that i actually know who she is
That's the thing. I'm not sure it is. Blue tick doesn't always mean verified.

If it is her then her claims are concerning and should not automatically be dismissed.

Of course, but the recording that was posted by her/that profile was definitely not Ronaldo.

Yep, and that's why I'm questioning whether the Twitter account is who it says it is.

Bizarre and sad situation.

.

“Mr. Ronaldo has no specific recollection of meeting Ms. Lennard 10 years ago or at any point,” Ronaldo’s legal team told TMZ. “He has not had a relationship with her and he has not had any contact with her, whether in the last 18 months as Ms Lennard suggests, or otherwise. The voice notes posted by Ms Lennard on social media are not of Mr. Ronaldo. Mr. Ronaldo will take appropriate legal action in due course.

It’s really weird that there was nothing on this for a while, then all of a sudden there’s someone trying to severely discredit Ronaldo by seemingly false means, and now the police want his DNA.

I haven't been following the case but the alleged rape happened ten years or so ago when he first moved to madrid and was not reported at that time? What could they possibly hope to achieve with dna samples.

Standard procedure collecting them if there is a full investigation going on.
