Woman accuses Cristiano Ronaldo of rape - CR7 case only

Yes it is. There is clear proof in the Greenwood case. Here, there is not. This should be fairly simple to differentiate for anybody with half a brain cell.

To play devil's advocate, the 'proof' in the Greenwood case can be put in to doubt in just the same way the proof in the Ronaldo case is. Anyone defending either of these men, who are doing so based primarily upon their own positive biases, need to give their heads a wobble.

Part of the problem why so few women ever come forward with stories like this is that powerful people are usually well protected by an army of lawyers and usually rabid fans, by now I think there are only rabid fans really, who never believe the victim anything and come up with the biggest mental gymnastics possible to make their client/idol be the real victim here.

It's why there had to be more than 10 women making claims against Weinstein before anything really stuck to him. Why Roman Polanski still isn't in jail and an American President can pay of a porn star and still remain in office. This narrative of oh so poor and powerful men who get accused by these evil women, who are just after the money, is contributing to rape culture remaining a major cultural issue.
No.

Use some common sense. The burden of proof is on the accuser. Reasonable proof has been provided in the case of greenwood. For Ronaldo, it quite clearly hasn't. If an individual cannot understand the distinction between the two then there's no point continuing discussion because they are clearly extremely close-minded and/or stupid.

I will exit this thread now as I can't be bollocksed with all the horrible takes inside. Let's just hope that justice prevails in both cases. I'd also highly suggest to anyone that if they do indeed think the club has two rapists on the team, and they continue to support them, they give their head a wobble too.

Honestly, all you people defending Ronaldo are as bad as the people in the Greenwood thread. This is disgusting.

Nah, I don't think that's right either.

The standard required in a criminal trial doesn't apply to our own personal opinions. But we do each have our own threshold that has to be met before we think someone probably/definitely did something, and different sets of circumstances and facts exceed that threshold more easily than others.

In the case of Ronaldo, I think he likely committed rape. But if we were presented with audio and images like we saw in relation to Greenwood, would I be even more convinced? Of course, it's clearer evidence. Which makes denying it happened even less rational.

Right back at ya

Other (rich and influential) people have also been wrongly accused. It's a non argument.

Anyway, I'm hoping you can answer my question so I know where you stand:

You've refused to give an answer twice now.
No I have no problem in agreeing that Ronaldo would have saved money from the lawsuit (who would receive the money if he won the lawsuit though?) What I don't agree to is if he was completely innocent he would prioritise saving money over clearing his image. So for me, the negligence from his side letting such a direct piece of evidence exist in the open which is in the public domain and pretty much anyone with an iota of interest will access it is enough for me to conclude that he is guilty of what is said in the document and probably worse than that. It is clear cut evidence that has not been refuted, as simple as that.

For the Greenwood accusation we have nothing but the alleged victims' word that Greenwood caused the bruises, and an audio recording that anyone could argue is role play. We have evidence she has no issues with him referring to himself as 'daddy' so we don't know what they get up to in their sex life. On balance I think he's an abusive little rapist.

For the Ronaldo accusation we have a victim's account that is as authentic as any I have ever read, and a transcript in which Ronaldo admits to sexual intercourse but insists was consensual. The alleged victim obviously disagrees because she went to the police/hospital and had a rape kit done that same evening.

What's happening is you are making a judgement call on which person's account you want to believe, and I am saying that is largely because you have a bias towards the alleged perpetrators involved.

Anyway, you are right. This thread is full of horrendous takes and rapist apologists. It's high time it was locked unless something new in the case comes out.
